Patch v1.01 released!

PATCH v1.01


Ok, before I continue - here's how it'll work.
  1. Critical patches will be deployed ASAP - and sometimes done without announcements. Please ensure that Starlight: Eye of the Storm is kept under "auto-update"
  2. Serious bugs, when fixed, will be deployed once a week.
  3. If there's no serious bugs, every alternate week, we'll introduce new contents. Be it new weapons, new ships, new features, etc.
  4. Sometimes there'll be a mix of bug fixes and new features - usually we deploy it once every 1-2 weeks. Usually 2 weeks as we need more time to test if the feature is huge.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]

  • Fixed a bug where the game crashes if you try to Publish without any fighters in the Ship Editor
  • Fixed a bug in the Campaign Map where a player using a joystick cannot change device or change fighter despite following the button as indicated.
  • Fixed a bug where a joystick using player cannot open Options Menu inside of Campaign Map. However, this only works for PLAYERS WHO HAS JOINED. For players who hasn't joined, pressing START will cause you to join if there's an empty slot!
  • Fixed a bug where the hints may linger on when exiting from Campaign Map or Ship Editor back into Main Menu


[h2]New Features[/h2]

  • Added a promised feature to the customer - a numeric indicator for shield and hull hit points
  • Added gameplay option to control what can be seen in the indicator. Percentage, Value or Min/Max Values.

Here we go. First week, meaningful bugs fixed, good features implemented. Next week, we'll add a weapon or two!

STARLIGHT: Eye of The Storm - FULL RELEASE LAUNCHED!

FULL RELEASE LAUNCHED


We're proud to announce that Starlight: Eye of the Storm has transitioned from Early Access into Full Release!

We're glad to receive all the feedback we had over the last 8 months. Originally, the Early Access period was set to be only at 3 months. However, we decided to revamp the core Campaign Missions which then set us back by a few months; those precious months are what it took for us to create a proper Campaign, with some storytelling elements as well.

[h2]Early Access Holders[/h2]

Thanks to your support, you'll be automatically upgraded to Full Release without any charge.

[h2]Near Future[/h2]

This is not the end for Starlight: Eye of the Storm. Expect to hear from us on new in-game contents, asset DLCs, bug fixes, and many more. There's already a set of features we want to implement after-release. We'd have put them in but we're required to code freeze as part of the full release procedures.

P.S. Folks who are holding the "Press" key may either unsubscribe from the betas or continue as normal. We'll make sure everyone gets the same update from now on.

Conclusion


We'll be providing more details in a separate announcement as a patch reveal to account fully what we've improved, added or removed over the last 3 months at least after the final Early Access patch.

Full Release Date CONFIRMED!

Dear Starlight fans, thanks for your patience waiting for the Full Release to be launched. Our confirmed launch date will be



30th October 2021, 0000HRS, EST

That'd mean the following timings for a few regions below.

a) US/East Coast - as described.
b) US/West Coast - 29th October, 2100 HRS
c) UK - 30th October, 0500 HRS
d) Europe/Central - 30th October, 0600 HRS
e) Singapore/Malaysia/China - 30th October, 1200 HRS (Noon)
f) Korea/Japan - 30th October, 1300 HRS
g) Australia/Brisbane - 30th October, 1500 HRS

[h2]Price Revision[/h2]

We've revised the price up just $0.99 (from $9.00 to $9.99) for our Full Release. For existing Early Access customers, you do not have to pay anything extra for the Full Release.

[h2]Full Release Summary[/h2]



Starlight: Eye of The Storm - Full Release version will be launched in Windows first, English only for now. There'll be the following modes:

[h3]Campaign Mode[/h3]
Campign Mode - which is the full story telling mission-based form of playing this game. Each mission consists around 2-3 micro-missions known as Areas or Segments. All, except the tutorial mission, will require completion of all areas to complete a mission.



The Campaign Mode comes in a modular format where you can choose to replay previously completed missions with different weapons in an attempt to get a better Star Ratings.

There'll also be side missions which are short segments scenario-based missions that can yield rewards of different kind. Completing them is also a requirement to unlock the Vanquisher - a special fighter that is more powerful than the original 3.

[h3]Arcade Mode[/h3]

Arcade mode is an arcade-format style play mode where you have to complete up to 10 stages. The weapon shop is visited after each stage is completed so that you can buy new weapons or upgrade weapons unlocked for your level.

[h3]Duel Mode[/h3]

This is a special mode where you and your friends can fight it out against each other. You can also use Steam Remote Play to enable online remote play and even friends that aren't using Windows will be able to play!

[h3]Secret Boss[/h3]

There will be a hidden both in both Arcade and Campaign mode and can only be fought if your scores are worthy of the fight.

This boss will be immensely difficult to fight compared to all other bosses in the game.

[h2]DLCs[/h2]

So far there's only 1 confirmed DLC.
- Starlight: Eye of the Storm, Official Sound Track.

This DLC will be released shortly after the Full Release is out. It'll contain all the soundtrack you've come across in the game, mixed and arranged for your listening pleasure!

[h2]Future Contents[/h2]

The full release will not be the end of the road for Starlight: Eye Of The Storm. We'll be adding on contents while fixing any issues reported by you.

Therefore you can expect the following:
** TBA means it's confirmed already, but the details are "To Be Announced" at a later date.
*** TBC means it's possible it might happen, but depends heavily on popularity and scope.

[h2]Widescreen vs Standard[/h2]

- In early access, the default gameplay screen mode is Standard 4:3.
- In Full Release, this will be changed into Widescreen of 16:9.
- Standard screen mode is still available under Options.
- 16:9 gameplay refers to a non-stretched, full support of 16:9 resolutions such as 1920x1080 FHD or 1440p as long as it's supported.
- We also support 144hz resolution but do not recommend it unless you have a very powerful machine; the game was designed around 1080p60 but will work on 144hz if required without timing loss.
- In Full Release, the game will be gated at 40fps. Which means if fps should drop beneath 40 fps, the game will slow down in time rather than to skip frames to compensate. Otherwise, the game runs smoothly at 60fps or higher depending on your selected resolution.
- V-sync is always recommended to maximize your gfx card's efficiency. Turning it off doesn't make the game's controls more sensitive.

With great pleasure, I hereby announce that Starlight: Eye of The Storm Full Release version 1.0 will be out within 1-2 weeks subjected to final testing, qualifications etc. We are very close and the tentative date set for release is 29th September 2021.

[h2]What's new in Full Release?[/h2]

  1. Full Campaign Mode, story mode, 15 missions in total. Available right from start!
  2. 16:9 gameplay! No more black borders unless you really want a 4:3 challenge!
  3. Arcade Mode, 10 stages of mayhem!
  4. Vanquisher Playable Fighter unlockable now!
  5. New weapons
  6. Improved game performance and systems as well as auto LOD adjuster to maintain a smooth gameplay.
  7. New score modifier (which serve more than just hiscores)
  8. New enemy ships, enemy weapons and different patterns and challenges
  9. Hidden end game boss!


[h2]What should existing players expect?[/h2]

1) There's NO NEED to pay another sum to upgrade to the full release. You've supported us during early access and therefore will gain full access to the upcoming full release.

2) There'll be new weapons, a brand new campaign mode with 7 missions. Each mission consists roughly 3 small stages and all missions come with story telling. Skippable of course.



3) Saved games! Unlike Arcade Mode where there's only 1 persistent saved game, in Campaign mode, you'll be afforded 50 + 1 quick save!

4) Unlockable Vanquisher playable fighter! This fighter remained locked in Early Access due to the need to complete all side missions in the campaign mode. With the campaign mode, you can now unlock it! Complete the side missions! They do reward well!

5) If you're an Early Access adopter, congratulations! You'd have earned an achievement that will no longer be available to new players who purchased Starlight from Full Release onwards

[h2]What are the future plans?[/h2]

These are unconfirmed plans that may or may not be fulfilled. They're not listed in order of implementation and may be subjected to changes without notice.

  • More weapons!
  • New Game Modes such as Survival, Boss Rush and even. .. Uber Boss Rush modes!
  • Possible New Campaign
  • Possible Weapons Editor
  • Possible Campaign Editor
  • Possible New Achievements


They'll be announced during our fortnightly build if any. We'll do our best to fix any issues - urgent issues get fixed immediately and deployed immediately. Major issues get into the weekly builds and standard severity issues go into Bi-Weekly builds.

Bugs and issues take precedence over new features. As much as we want to provide new content, bug fixes that causes serious interruptions will be done so first.

It's going to be a huge 8 days ahead of us. Lots of testing to be ticked off before we roll it out. There'll be a private testing session as well on Steam though it's not open to the public.
