Broadcast: PvP Duel - Pre-Recorded

PvP Duel Broadcast

This is a pre-recorded footage of some of our Steam Remote Play sessions we had previously. My voice isn't recorded but some of my friend's voices are.

Therefore, some of the footage may be accelerated or cross-faded to accelerate the plot.

Please sit back, relax and enjoy the chaos!

Jeremy

Watch Devs play - Arcade Mode: Normal Difficulty

Arcade Playthrough

Yes, most if not all broadcasts will be based on Arcade mode playthroughts. We'd have loved to show you the duel PvP but it's just not possible to do it via a broadcast. :(

However, I'd encourage everyone to try Steam Remote Play out! All you need is your friends to be on your steam friends list OR for Steam Remote Play Together event, you can just create a link and send it to your friends even when they may not have Steam installed!

This works even if your friends are using Mac or any unsupported OS as long as they have enough bandwidth to handle streaming.

Conclusion

We hope you'll enjoy the game regardless of whether you own a copy or not! If you can at least give us a wishlist, we'll be just as grateful!

Regards,
Jeremy

Live Streaming Arcade/PvP mode!

Live Stream Session

We'll be online to host a session where any players can join us for a game of Arcade or PvP Duel. I'll personally prefer the latter since it allows for more players to take turns to join in to take a shot at me aka the developer.

Some of us may be hosting a session later as well. This is therefore a general announcement that we'll be live on 25th March 2021, 0900 hrs US Pacific Time.

That'll be 26th March 2021, 0000 hrs Singapore Time. (GMT+8)
AMA and Play Togethers
We encourage everyone to go live or invite their friends to try out Starlight during this period of time. We just want to spread joy even to those who don't have a copy of the game or on platforms that aren't supported now - such as mbp.

We hope to connect with you as the audience to understand your experience with the game and how we can further improve the game before Full Release. Feel free to ask us anything about ourselves, Strides Interactive, the game or any future games we might make!
Conclusion
We look forward to seeing you in-game! Really hope we can get people up to have a duel with us!

Regards,
Jeremy

Early Access v0.76 Released!

Early Access v0.76

This release has come earlier than usual. We'd love to have resolve more issues but we don't want to risk introducing regression errors into the new build.

From March 25th - 29th, we'll have participating in Steam Remote Play Together event! In order to celebrate this event, we've released the Duel PvP mode!

Using Steam Remote Play, you can, for this event, invite your friends via a link to join your game even when they might not have the Steam client! For us, we'll be going live tomorrow to celebrate the event.
What's Duel PvP?
This is a separate game mode that is listed alongside Arcade mode. You'll be able to use any unlocked fighters or custom fighters in this mode. However, you'll need at least 2 PLAYERS to start. There'll be no AI enemies for this mode.

As usual, you'll start in the Fighter Selection Screen first:

Then you'll head into the Weapon Shop immediately! Do your shopping NOW!
You'll be given $500,000 and 250 capsules!

After that the duel begins! It'll be based on Phobos City at several random locations.
 1. Asteroids will also be spawned to help certain weapons that need a surface to deliver its effects.
 2. Drift usage is reduced greatly. Upgrades will add a lot more time than stated.
 3. Power Gauge fills up AUTOMATICALLY over time.
 4. Stage will spawn random bonuses every 30 seconds
 5. Players can shoot each or effect each other like they do against Arcade enemies.
 6. This includes the effects of Star Nova, Kronos and Angelic Assimilation.
Objectives
Kill each other! Each kill adds a kill score rather than a general score.
New Features
- Duel PvP Mode! (as described above)
- Arcade Session and Saved Games will now save previously used fighters and their weapons. That means if you've used Starlight, completed a mission and upgraded the weapons, then you suffer a game over and decided to continue with Hellfire, the weapons on Starlight will persist. This meant that if you game with Hellfire, you can select Starlight and get back all your old weapons!

** thanks to notanymike for his feedback
Changes
- All canonical fighters will now have its hit boxes CENTERED. Canonical fighters refer to:
 1. Starlight
 2. Hellfire
 3. Archangel
 4. Nova
 5. Vendetta
 6. Vanquisher

- All canonical fighters will have a Wormhole Core Generator in the middle of it that as of now, glows in orange.
- The reason for this change is simple; drift mode automatically pivots your fighter to the next target. The last thing we want is when your fighter gets pivoted into a hail of bullets not by your choice. As such, dying this way is seen as punishing and therefore the change.
- Therefore, now you can drift with ease knowing that the center point of pivot will always remain the same and you can now safely navigate enemy bullets without being killed inadvertently by drift mode.

** thanks to notanymike for his feedback
Bug Fixes
1. Corrected an incorrect appearance of a 3D SS Obliterator in Stage 10
 2. Adjusted Stage 10 segment to properly reflect the dangers of certain weapons. Details not mentioned so as not to spoil the game for folks who hasn't played it yet.
 3. Fixed a bug that in a 2 or 3 player game, if one of the players suffers a game over and concedes ie, not rejoining the game, then the game might crash.
 4. Fixed a bug where awarding a player in certain cases causes the entire player's in-game statistics to be reset.
 5. Fixed a bug where in certain cases, player’s warheads do not start based on difficulty level
 6. Fixed a bug where the hull warning doesn’t appear properly for player 2 and player 3. Only the box(es) appear without any text or icon.

Conclusion

This is an update that has some major new features included and will be included in the full release. Early access adopters get to enjoy it first and also enjoy some leverage to help shape the game's final state.

We look forward to seeing you in our live stream! Don't just watch, join us and we can either do a duel or play arcade mode as per normal. Also, devs (ask me anything) is definitely - ON.

See you guys REAL soon!

Regards,
Jeremy

Overview Update

What's up?

As you all might have known, the last few weeks has been about bug fixing, optimizations, better quality of life features and all-round improvements. Some issues still remain that requires solving over time, but those will be addressed in time.

So what's up?
Transitioning to Live Updates
Yes, from v0.76 onwards, we'll no longer call it as patch. Instead, it's a progressive version update that slowly add contents into the game.

Which means, there's a good chance you'll get to see the game grow week in week out till release roughly in June.
What should I expect?
You may gain access to new features such as Campaign game mode after completion of the Arcade mode as well as temporary access to other game modes such as PvP Duel mode.

These modes while accessible, will be limited and may not be as polished as Arcade mode.

Even if Campaign mode missions become accessible, they might still change and your overall experience and impression may differ from now till launch.
What can I do about new contents?
Herein lies the whole point of us doing early access. Obviously, we're not abandoning this game but we'll at the same time need feedback on the new contents. That's where you folks as early access adopters get to shape the direction of where the game will lead to.
Expectation Management
There're however some limitations as to how much we can change; we'll have to be realistic about it.
 1. Core mechanics of the game will not be changed
 2. Control scheme of the game is very unlikely to be changed unless there's a very strong reason to do so. That's because, for every button we add, we'll have to access if it's possible to experience it properly during gameplay with a keyboard AND a joystick.
 3. General plot of the game can have extra twists, but the outcome of the plot will not change. Therefore, the ending of Arcade mode is will be canon.

New features will likely be raw and unpolished until several updates later. This can change very quickly within the week or even days.

If you should encounter a feature or mission that is incomplete, please understand that the game is still on its way to completion and certain points of the game may not be complete or polished enough yet.
Conclusion
This week, we'll be featuring Duel PvP mode played across using Steam Remote Play as a means for different players to fight it out!

Stay tuned for v0.76's release!

Jeremy
