Horror Tycoon - Major Update ONE - 0.9.9r
Greetings Haunters!
First, thank you for all of your support since early access launched back in October. The game is still evolving and improving thanks to your incredible feedback. I have been working since launch to bring the first major update to Horror Tycoon. This update contains new content, a new level + a tease of the next level location, new music, new sound fx, new gameplay elements, new features, 40+ bug fixes, balancing and more!
As stated in the 2023 Road Map, the goal is to release a new major update every quarter (or so) until the game is ready for release. Each major update will contain new content as well as gameplay improvements and bug fixes. In between quarters, smaller patches and bug fixes will be implemented.
The next update and its features will be announced sometime in Q2 2023. Until then... please see the full patch notes below:
[h2]Gameplay Changes: [/h2]
- In Sandbox mode players can now select the next wave difficulty from the wave details panel (Top Center of the main User Interface)
- Food & Drink items now have their own tab on the main Hud. The Pre-Fab tab has been removed.
- Main HUD "Go" button will now animate when the next wave of guests can enter the haunt.
- When the next wave can be called in a non-sandbox game there is now an audio reminder. The Devil will taunt the player slightly to begin the next wave.
- When a guest encounters a vending machine and obtains food or drink, an icon will now appear to better communicate the guest has received the buff (increases heart attack chance).
- Increase Guest Heart Attack will have a duration so these will need to be placed strategically to ensure guests have this buff when entering the desired scare traps. This buff does not stack, placing multiple vending machines in a row will not further increase the chance for a heart attack.
- The different vending machines will now also advise what percentage they will increase a guest's heart attack chance in the description (the more expensive the vending machine, the higher the heart attack chance).

[h2]Bug Fixes:[/h2]
- Fixed an issue where the guest wave details would still be visible when opening the menu.
- Fixed an issue when closing the guest wave details, the selected guest difficulty level would reset once it was closed.
- ESC Key now takes you to the Menu
- Fixed an issue where the timer would stop counting down to the next wave.
- Load Game will only be enabled if an existing save slot is present.
- Fixed an issue when the game is paused and the player clicks the game speed button to unpause the game, the pause button would not toggle to an off state.
- Fixed an issue where loading a non-sandbox saved game would re-play the intro cinematic and present the contract to be signed again.
- Changed the verbiage for overwriting a save slot. Once you have acknowledged the warning, you may overwrite your existing save slot.
- Fixed an issue where the test guest would pay an entrance fee and add/subtract fear reputation.
- Fixed an issue where being in the first-person camera prevented the player from exiting when accessing the settings.
- Sandbox mode will no longer show how many bones and teeth have been collected as well as the required number of souls.
- Guests take scare damage more consistently.
- Fixed an issue when scaling up decor items scaling would also scale the tile and grid. These 2 items no longer scale.
- Fixed an issue when in build mode the item placement grid would stay on or turn off correctly after placing an item or closing the build menu.
- Saved games will now load items with the correct color if the player has changed their default color.
- Saved games will now load the correct speed for items that have user-controlled speeds (strobe lights/broken lights)
- Saved games will now load the correct bones & teeth.
- Fixed an issue where after saving a game, the main menu will update to allow the player to load instead of having to exit to the main menu to load.
- Dead bodies now leave blood until the body is disposed of and will fade out after the guts have been collected.
- Guest deaths will go into a "Ragdoll" effect which will provide a dynamic, environment driven animation with each guest death.
- Guests that are dead will no longer have an exit sign appear prior to death, this is replaced briefly by skulls.
- Fixed an issue with the body disposal garbage bag, this should now look "full" when carried.
- Enable Tutorial Text re-positioned for better visibility when starting a new game.
- Fixed an issue where guests could have duplicate phobias.
- Fixed an issue with the current upgrade level not displaying correctly.
- When upgrading an item, the proper upgrade level is now visible and will show the next level if the player has sufficient fear reputation points to upgrade.
- Fixed the color of the icon to MOVE and item from light grey to light blue.
- Fixed an issue with the Spike Wall trap that was causing a fatal crash.
- Body Disposal Employees are less creepy and now will blink their eyes.
- Fixed traffic pile ups from preventing the guests from reaching the entrance location. Cars will "de-spawn" if they do not reach the next vehicle checkpoint within 90 seconds.
- Body collectors should path-find better now and get stuck less frequently.
- Body collectors now walk slightly faster.
- Added a [Spacebar to Skip] popup for cinematics/level intros.
- Fixed Bookcase color changing.
- Fixed an issue when raising and lowering decor items, the item would get stuck in place.
- Fixed an issue where Sinister Traps would not work correctly.
- Fixed an issue where the Body Disposal employee would not spawn in at the correct game speed.
- Fixed an issue where Decor Items would get stuck in place when raising or lowering them.
- General Optimization and Performance fixes.
A quick note regarding localization...
Localization is still on course to be added to the game, however, this has been delayed until the game's actual release / launch. More will be available at a later date.
