Good Morning, mates! Today I'm proud to say that our first DLC is gonna be released on July 28th!
Yes, I'm aware that the release is a bit later than expected. The main problem is that we underestimated the difficulty of developing the DLC, Policy, Edict and Textbook content while maintaining and updating the main version. And this also led to some other problems, like we still update the game frequently, but we all know that the quality of some of that content isn't up to par. We also worried we could fail to bring new content and new experience to players. But anyway, we will keep updating the game in the future but less frequently. We will focus more on the quality of the updates, and adding more new content to the game.
Getting back to the points, here are some basic info that need to be stated about the DLC:First, the DLC is totally free. Anyone who has bought Settlement Survival can get it for free.
Second, the DLC can be enabled and disabled at any time. But saves that contains the downloadable content cannot be functional if unchecking the DLC.
Third, with the release of the DLC, we will offer a discount for Settlement Survival for a week long. We wanted to start the discount at the time the DLC is released, but being restrained by the discount rules of Steam, we are not able to do so. The special offer will start on August 1st and last for 7 days.
Next, I'll go over the specifics of the DLC update:The tourism pack is actually for a later stage of the game. We still hope our players have enough time to deal with the basic survival problems in the early stages. After your town is stabilized, it is time to try the tourism pack. Tourism is intended to provide wider access to immigrants and more ways to earn Silver Coins.
You can select the attraction structures from the bottom menu bar. After they are built, you can promote your town by using Souvenirs to attract tourists.
When tourists visit, you will obtain Access Points, which can be used to redeem structures and items in the Access Point Shop (
including some rare items).
As more structures are unlocked, you can build more commercial structures to earn more Silver Coins from tourists, which will be a very substantial income as the scenic areas grow.
Satisfying tourists' requests can increase Satisfaction and gain more Access Points. It's also a way to increase Town Attractiveness.
Town Attractiveness is an indicator that determines the number of immigrants from tourists. Besides Satisfaction, it is also affected by the number of commercial structures, decoration structures, pollution structures, and the Health and Happiness of the town. Immigrants who are attracted by your scenic areas are better. They will not carry any diseases and you can accept them without worrying about a thing.
The above is the basic gameplay of the Tourism pack. And it's also worth mentioning that we noticed some players have trouble obtaining Blueprints, so we introduced a more convenient way of obtaining Blueprints in the Access Point Shop, but you have to build your scenic areas first.

In addition to the downloadable content, the update that follows the DLC includes features like policy, edict and school textbooks. These contents do not belong to the DLC but will update in the game itself.
Policy:Policies are ongoing effects that usually bring positive effects along with some negative ones. How to balance this out is up to the players.
The policy system will provide more options and give players an extra edge in a certain direction.
Edict:Edicts are a temporary effect that usually can only last for a certain period of time. Once the limit time of an edict has been reached, you will need to change or continue the edict by using Edict coins. You also use Silver Coins instead of Edict Coins, but it usually costs a lot.
School Textbooks:Schools can assign textbooks for students to transcribe, and this process will need paper. After students learned textbooks, students will have chances to gain an additional buff. More advanced schools can use higher-level textbooks, which can provide higher-level abilities. We have added other technologies correspondingly to choose from, so players can have more benefits when developing and upgrading education in the town in the new system.
Here are some future development contents:Infinite Technology:Some of our old players may have noticed that Infinite Technology was not mentioned in this update. It's still a part of our plan but we didn't put it in this update for some reason. We do notice that Tech Points become pointless in the late stages of the game. Now we've found a way to fix the problem and will update it in the future.
Reset the beginners guide:We realize that there are still shortcomings in the current beginners guide. The next changes to the guide will be in the direction of triggered guides. First, we will consolidate the existing guides and place them in a more proper way. We want players to get into the game faster, rather than spending a lot of time learning how to play.
Revamp Random Events:The random events in the old version consisted of relatively independent events that had little impact on the game and the interaction is also in a relatively shallow level. We are going to deepen the content of this piece so that the random events can cooperate to a certain extent according to the current development stage of the player. Let the form of interaction is more integrated into the game.
For example, there may be a businessman who will approach you to place an order, which you can accept or reject, and there will be corresponding consequences. If accepting it but not being able to deliver on time may bring some consequences. We hope to let the whole random events become more systematic and better correlated. It may bring favorable or harmful results, testing the player's ability even more. Instead of making it like benefits in the current game.
In addition to the above, we'll continue to work on several expansions and additions of some features, nothing very definite to announce yet, and we'll probably roll them out at the right time.
Now we are in the final stage of making the DLC, and it will be available for you soon. Let's look forward to the DLC release on July 28th.
