(re)Announcing Cosmic Raze

A funny thing happened on the way to release...

I was deep into balancing the mid-to-late game for Cosmic Raze and...it just wasn't working. It was too hard, and too chaotic. I tried multiple ways to salvage things, tweaking difficulty here, adding new mechanics there, but it was clear if Cosmic Raze was going to be a great game, I needed to make some tough decisions. This is the result, and it's a whole lotta fun!

What if Plants Vs. Zombies had auto-battler style drafting, and roguelike replayability? If you love tower defense games as much as I do, you're going to love what Cosmic Raze has become.

Originally conceived as a spin-off from Gunlocked, Cosmic Raze has since become its own unique thing, but for fans of Gunlocked, there's a lot that you'll recognize as you upgrade your weapons, select unique augmentations, and unlock powerful synergy bonuses.

The controls are simple and intuitive, and the gameplay is perfect for playing on any device, from Desktop, to Laptop, and especially Steam Deck.
Byte Size Initiative
Cosmic Raze is the first game in what I'm calling my "Byte Size Initiative." Over the years, I have made dozens of prototypes for a huge variety of genres, from tower defense, to deckbuilders, to pinball, and more. But when individual games take 1-2 years to develop, it limits how many of these could ever be completed by a solo developer, and as a creative I hate thinking I'll never get to finish many of these ideas!

So now I want to make the best ones into small, but deep, and replayable experiences, for super affordable prices. With the benefit of years of experience, and months already put into developing many of these prototypes, I'll be able to release 4-5 of these games a year, and possibly more!

If you like the cut of my jib, and want to support this initiative, you can subscribe to my new Patreon for just $2 a month, and as long as you're subscribed, you'll get every new Byte Size game I release, along with some other perks.

If you'd rather take a wait and see approach, then good news! You won't have to wait long for Cosmic Raze, because it's coming out very soon, and for the low price of $2.99! (regional pricing applies)

New Game: Cosmic Raze
Announcing my next game, and a new initiative!
Cosmic Raze is a tower defense game with auto-battler drafting, and a dash of roguelike elements for endless replayability. Take control of advanced weapon systems, build powerful synergies, and then blast away as aliens attempt to conquer Earth.

DLC Patch 1.55

Gunlocked 1.55: One Last Hurrah

Developing Gunlocked was a life-changing event that saw me go from a 15 year career as a freelance illustrator to a full time game developer. It was both scary and fun to come back to this project for one last little update.

Playing it again had me fall in love with it all over. I'd love to make a proper sequel some day, but this game developer life is still a tenuous one, so we'll have to see how things shake out with my current project, Boons & Burdens!

Thanks for everything, and enjoy this last little patch for the 2nd Gunning DLC! And if you still don't have it, grab a copy of the 2nd Gunning DLC here

New Content for DLC owners
 • New Symbionic: Parting Shot
 • New Symbionic: Echo Maker
 • New Symbionic: Triomnilator
 • New Symbionic: Thunder Spark
QoL
 • DLC should now work in offline mode as long as you've played the game once while online after purchase
 • Various optimizations related to in-game events and sounds
 • Electroline no longer says it's luck based in upgrade type
 • Heatseeker shows more burn weapon synergies
Bug Fixes
 • Tabbing out should no longer mess with the resolution
 • Fixed a memory leak related to Ram's augment that could cause progressive slowdown in endless mode
 • Trial scores should no longer be saving when not in a Trial game
 • Codex should properly save and unlock the new symbionics

Beta Patch 1.55
This update is for DLC owners
A wild patch appears!

Long time, no patch. It's hard as a solo dev to come back to an older project while working on a new one. I don't have a team to support me on either project, but I've been wanting to add these new Symbionics for a while, and a recent bug report finally spurred me into action!

This update will sit on the beta test branch for a while because the old code is a bit messy and I want to make sure I didn't break anything going back.

If you want to try it out, you can right click Gunlocked in your Steam library, select "Properties", then "Betas" and enter the following password: 2beta2furious

Key Features:
 • 4 New Symbionic Upgrades to discover: Parting Shot, Echo Maker, Triomnilator, Thunder Spark
 • DLC should now work in offline mode as long as you've played the game once while online after purchase
 • Various optimizations to game and sound elements (affects the base game as well)

Let me know if you have any major issues with the new update, and thanks for all the support over the years!

Boons & Burdens goes Gunlocked and on sale!

Patch 0.20 of Boons & Burdens just launched and it brings with it a whole new way to play called Arena. This mode is heavily inspired by Gunlocked, so if you were hoping for more Gunlocked style action, this is the update for you! Turn on auto-aim in the options, and you almost wouldn't know the difference (almost, lol).

If you've been waiting to grab a copy until more content and features were in, now's the time!

I'm currently re-running the previous launch week sale for all of my games, including the bonus discounts on the bundles. Buy Boons & Burdens Here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2646120/Boons__Burdens/

With last week's Rings of Power and this Arena update, there's plenty of bang for your buck (shameless promotion over).
Arena Mode Features
• Survive for 15 minutes in a single arena
 • No burdens, sacrifices, or portals
 • 6 new potion powerups can show up in chests (see GIF above)
 • Special combat events can trigger periodically, spawning unique enemy configurations and special hazards
 • Collecting gems levels you up, allowing you to pick one new upgrade each time
 • You get 1 reroll per level up, but the Ring of Rerolls can extend this
 • Upgrade beacons appear, and allow you to choose boons when charged up. These favor upgrades for abilities you already own when possible.
 • Enemies do not drop Infernicite in this mode, instead you're awarded Infernicite based on every minute you survive, with a +10 bonus for victory.
 • Certain rings behave differently in Arena. You can toggle between arena/classic descriptions in the equipment menu.
