Soul Dossier Version Plan
Firstly, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the investigators for your continuous support of "Soul Dossier" (bow)! Through various channels such as player groups, feedback forms, and YY, we have received a vast number of suggestions from players (over a thousand). Although we cannot reply to each one individually, we have carefully read and recorded every piece of feedback. Regarding the issues you care about, we always adhere to the principle of "listening to advice" and are committed to implementing your feedback into future version optimizations.
This version plan will be divided into three sections. The first part addresses the frequently asked questions, the second part outlines the functional optimization plans, and the third part reveals the update plans for new characters in future versions!
I. Soul Dossier Q&A
Q: When will the Fishing Village return? I'm tired of playing the same few maps over and over.
A: The Fishing Village map has often been criticized for its unclear layers, issues with fighting between floors, and character models getting stuck in map seams. We plan to completely revamp the Fishing Village map and will reopen it to players once the revamp is complete. The exact release date is not yet determined, but we will announce the latest news on social media as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
Q: Please implement ranking level restrictions! New players keep getting knocked down as soon as they enter ranked matches. How are they supposed to play?
A: Ranking level restrictions were updated and launched on February 14th. Currently, players below level 51 are restricted from entering ranked matches. New players can improve their skills through match-made games. We will continue to optimize the level restriction criteria based on your feedback.
Q: Can past Star Diamond skins be re-released? The Star Diamond skins never change.
A: We will revamp the Star Diamond Treasure Box in the future, reintroducing most past Star Diamond skins for players to draw. The drop rate of Star Diamond skins will be increased, but the output of Star Diamonds will be reduced (48% -> 38.4%). Don't worry if you draw duplicate Star Diamond skins; they can be dismantled into Star Diamonds! Past Heaven's Choice skins will also be added to the Star Diamond Treasure Box, and experience cards will be removed. These changes are expected to be implemented in the February version update.
Q: The output from the Good Fortune Treasure Box has decreased. Can we get some high-quality skins in there?
A: After the changes to the Good Fortune Treasure Box, we have been closely monitoring player feedback. To enhance the appeal of the Good Fortune Treasure Box, in the February version update, we will add some Heaven's Choice, Manual, active, and direct-sale type costumes to the Good Fortune Treasure Box. These rewards will be permanent and available for players to draw. They will also be available through other channels.
Q: When will the seasonal skins be updated to the seasonal treasure box? There was no way to get last season's skins.
A: After the current "Floating Life Season" ends, we plan to include all past seasonal skins (including Supreme skins) in the seasonal treasure box and remove the seasonal Supreme treasure box. Please stay tuned to the update announcements for specific adjustment times.
Q: The mentor-apprentice system is just a formality. I've taken my apprentice from level 1 to 50, and the mentor-apprentice coins aren't even enough to exchange for a costume.
A: The level at which apprentices graduate is indeed too easily achieved. In the February update, we will adjust the apprentice graduation level to 80 and add new costumes to the mentor-apprentice store as incentives.
Q: Give us back the ability to exchange hair colors for complete sets! Costumes without hair are soulless!
A: We are gradually reintroducing the exchange of hair colors for complete sets to the treasure scroll page. Since we need to adapt to the treasure scroll page, the previous exchange pages need to be remade, so they cannot all be reintroduced at once. However, we have a plan to add several exchange pages every week in the updates.
Q: There are too many ineffective tricks and props; they just take up backpack space.
A: In the future, we will open the decomposition of tricks, props, and auxiliary stars. You can decompose unused props into currency.
Q: Opening the Ancient Coin Treasure Box is too expensive. The skins inside are rarely updated, and there are no ways to get ancient coins.
A: We will include ancient coins as compensation in daily updates and maintenance. We plan to lower the price of opening the Ancient Coin Treasure Box and add new costumes in the March version update. (Note: Soul Dossier live broadcast events give away a large number of ancient coins!)
II. Functional Optimization Directions
1. Optimization of Match/Ranked Treasure Boxes is on the way!
Since their launch, match/ranked treasure boxes have been the most frequently obtained by players. However, the limited variety and low quality of costumes in the boxes have not been very attractive to players. In future versions, we will add additional golden quality costumes to the match/ranked treasure boxes to encourage players to obtain them. We will also restrict low-settlement-score players from obtaining match/ranked treasure boxes.
2. Optimization of Special Investigator Rewards
We plan to optimize the reward system for Special Investigators. On top of the existing benefits, we will introduce a daily check-in feature. After activating Special Investigator status, players can claim one Good Fortune Treasure Box daily. This feature is currently under development and testing.
3. Newbie Pool is Under Testing and Development!
It's not uncommon for new players to be overwhelmed when matched with experienced players, leading to a poor gaming experience. This is one of the key feedback points, as it affects the growth of new players in Soul Dossier. We plan to introduce a newbie pool in the match mode, targeting players below level 51. Players level 51 and above will not be able to enter the newbie pool, and newbie pool players can only be matched with others in the same pool. We hope this will improve the early-game experience for new players and help them get up to speed quickly. (Note: Experienced players cannot enter the newbie pool even when matching with new players.) We will continue to optimize based on player surveys, so please keep an eye on future in-game surveys!
4. Too Many Dances to Choose From? Dance Wheel to the Rescue!
As of now, the game features nearly 300 dance actions, with almost every character equipped with more than three dance actions. However, players can only select one dance to use during matches. To allow players to switch dances more freely during matches, we are developing a dance wheel feature. Players will be able to bring multiple dances into matches and use them, engaging in "dance-offs" with other players!
5. Finding a Team is Too Hard? Queue Channel on the Way!
We have always been aware of the difficulties players face when forming teams. It can be challenging for solo players to find a team. To provide a smoother teaming experience, we will add a Queue List to the world list. All team invites posted in the world chat will be displayed here. This feature is still under development and testing by the studio team.
6. Decomposition Password Function Restart!
When decomposing items, players sometimes accidentally click and mistakenly decompose high-quality costumes or props, especially with the upcoming decomposition of some Star Diamond costumes (into Star Diamonds). To reduce the frequency of accidental decomposition, we plan to introduce a secondary password verification mechanism. When decomposing items, players will need to enter a secondary password for confirmation. Since the decomposition password function requires mechanisms for password recovery and other verifications, the development workload is significantly increased. Therefore, the studio team is still working on it!
7. Optimization of Intimacy Level Rewards
We plan to add a new reward for character intimacy levels above 100—a character title. This will showcase players' love for their characters.
8. New Moon Spirit Talisman (Monthly Card) Function Optimization
We have been closely monitoring the performance data of the New Moon Spirit Talisman (monthly card) and collecting player feedback. Our investigation revealed that the current monthly card reward collection process is cumbersome: players need to find the monthly card page, select the card type, sign in, and then collect the rewards. This process is clearly not convenient and provides a poor collection experience.
To address this, we will reshape the overall functionality of the New Moon Spirit Talisman (monthly card). The optimized adjustments are as follows:
After purchasing the monthly card, rewards will be automatically distributed upon logging into the game. There will be no need for manual sign-in or collection; rewards will be directly deposited into your account. This feature requires remaking, so we kindly ask for a little more time to fine-tune it.
9. More Practical Functionality Optimizations!
In addition to the popular features you care about, we are also advancing the detail optimizations of the game. For example, the game loading screen now includes a "Tip of the Day." Attentive players may have noticed that the bottom right corner of the match waiting interface now displays a line of text: "Tip of the Day." We have included some interesting Soul Dossier-related trivia, but the number of tips is still far from enough. Recently, we will release a survey on social
III. Character Update Plan
▶ New Spirit Investigator - Tang Mo (Male) ◀
Tang Mo comes from a family of medical practitioners and has been immersed in the study of medicine and music theory since childhood. He is proficient in medical skills and excels in playing musical instruments. As a Spirit Investigator who specializes in control and support, he uses the guzheng (a traditional Chinese zither) as his instrument. By playing different musical scores, he can trigger various effects: enhancing his teammates' mobility and survivability while weakening the threats posed by grudge spirits. He can create a safe environment for the team and control the pace of the match, making him an indispensable core member of the team.
Difficulty Level: ★★★★
New Spirit Investigator - Tang Mo is expected to debut in Season 10! Stay tuned to our official account "Soul Dossier" for more leaks about the new season.
▶ New Grudge Spirit - Yehuo Nüba ◀
Nüba first appeared in the "Book of Songs" as the daughter of the Yellow Emperor. In the "Classic of Mountains and Seas," she is considered the progenitor of zombies. Drought spirits are believed to have clashed with other deities on high mountains, causing droughts and famines. Her body contains the power of a fallen sun, and she possesses an even more intense Yehuo (karmic fire) power.
