In recent news, Goblin Stone voice-over narrator, James Smillie received 9 nominations from the One Voice Awards 2021. His nomination on Best Character Performance for Goblin Stone is among others. You may recognize James Smillie's deep baritone and resonant voice all throughout the game.

Dynamic and versatile, James Smillie has had a distinguished career on stage, screen and behind the microphone. James hails from Scotland and honed his consummate skills as a voice artist while working as a fully contracted radio actor, perfecting his wide range of vocal talent in age and accents and characterisation; all of which has led to a stand out career as one of the most sought after voiceovers in the industry.

Weekly Challenge: Ability unlock

We are slowly revamping our Discord community in the past few weeks. Today we are happy to introduce to you a fun new activity for the server: Weekly Challenges

For this week's challenge
  • Name a special ability that will help these young goblins on their long journey.
  • Join our Discord to participate and learn more about the challenge.
  • Deadline for submission is until August 3, 2021, 23:59 (UTC+8)
  • Winning entry will be highlighted on our Social Media pages.




Community highlight

Over the past few weeks, we received incredible works of art from our community. Today's highlight is a fanmade Goblin by Pinkietherat.

The concept: They are small goblinoids with a goblin and an orc as parents, but despite the odd pairing, it didn’t stop them from pursuing their goals. The 'Gorc' picks up everything that isn’t nailed down when it comes to food and throws it into a pot to cook his friend's meals.

Devblog#4: Ability Deck

Our team is currently working on a lot of features for Goblin Stone. This week, we are focused on the ability deck feature. This feature is still in development but let me share with you a bit of our progress.

What is Ability Deck?
[/h2]

Ability Deck enables players to configure their goblin's build. Each class has its own pool of abilities from which the players can choose from. Players must choose only four abilities to equip the class with. The choices made affect each class's playstyle and allow the player to customize according to their battle strategy.

Here's a throwback look at the old design way back when the game only allowed equipping only two abilities per class. The old UI felt very constricting, so we went for a layout that enables players to view all available abilities.



For the re-design, our designer used this primitive mockup as a basis for the Ability deck's design and layout.



Eventually, players will be able to unlock new abilities and even level them up to strengthen the class.
