[Dev note] Updates on stability test and upcoming schedules

Itโ€™s been a while since Iโ€™ve said hello. ๐Ÿ‘‹

I hope you all enjoyed our CBT and the demo.
I would like to thank you all again for the valuable feedback as well.

For that, Dysterra was able to evolve in many ways. One of the big pillars of the feedback was the server stability and anti-cheat issues, so we still have the โ€˜playtestโ€™ feature up to make it work better.


Stability Test Progress?

We have identified and improved the following major performance bottlenecks:

[h3]๐Ÿ“‹NPC optimization๐Ÿค–[/h3]
Since many NPCs can emerge simultaneously within the game world, we have adjusted the number of active NPCs so that the total quantity is appropriate for server performance. AI for NPCs is also under tuning process, they might feel a little slow, but when the overall server issues become better, AI will become better along with it.

[h3]๐Ÿ“‹Object collision optimization๐Ÿšง[/h3]
Depending on user activities in game, crash handling was one of the big bottlenecks within the server. There have been several optimization related to this issue over the past month.

[h3]๐Ÿ“‹Buildings Optimization๐Ÿข[/h3]
We have found that complexity of the building built by the players put a lot of load within the server. This issue is under process of optimization.

[h3]๐Ÿ“‹Anti-cheat๐Ÿ‘ฎ[/h3]
Since we have first seen cheats being used, a lot of structural loopholes with unauthorized illegal programs have been constantly been filled. Consequently, we are seeing dramatic reduction in number of cheats being used.


It is difficult to disclose all details about the measures we will be taking. Even now, however, we are trying our best to block all unauthorized illegal programs and viewing user activities through various methods.

Aside from these measures being taken through anti-cheat solution and the client itself, our GMs are constantly viewing user activities through in-game monitoring as well. However, we ask for your understanding that it may take some time as the investigation on cheats needs to be carried out in a precise manner to prevent unnecessary banning on wrong players.

What are your future plans for Dysterra?

The stability test that is on-going right now will end soon, and the exact date will be announced 3 days before it ends.
Also, please note that the existing game information (nickname, etc.) will be wiped at the end of the test.

In addition, apart from the stability test, we are working on various new contents and improvements to the existing system. Let me give you a slight glimpse into what we are preparing. These updates include bigger map, female chracters, and new weapons as weโ€™ve announced earlier.

[h3]๐Ÿ“ŒGlobal ranking system๐Ÿ†[/h3]
Some of you may have already realized that we have been constantly strengthening our ranking system. Everything was a stepping stone for this upcoming global ranking system. Every actions that you take in-game will affect the overall ranking. Most importantly, it is crucial to survive till the last in each world. It is only natural to feel proud about being ranked high, but we are also preparing some rewards that can be obtained depending on the rankings. Additional details about the rewards will be released later on.

[h3]๐Ÿ“ŒReinforced item recovery in case of death๐Ÿง[/h3]
Safety slots in the inventory already exists, but to reduce the risk of dying in game. We are going to make the system even easier to re-collect your items.

[h3]๐Ÿ“ŒAdded functions to sleeping bagsโ›บ[/h3]
To reduce the burden of having a building (shelter) for yourself, and to encourage more field action, we will be adding new functions to the sleeping bag. Sleeping bags will now have a storage function as well, Items in the sleeping bag will not be lootable, but sleeping bags will still be vulnerbale to attacks and can be destructed by other players.

We have simplified tutorials related to combat and survival.

[Dev note] Global ranking, Female character, New weapons

Hi Survivors,
we are here to drop news about the updates that are in process.

[h2]Global ranking[/h2]
We will now sum up the fame that youโ€™ve obtained from all servers and combine them all to provide you with a global ranking.

Other than the global ranking, now you will also be able to check rankings in each server.

Later on, players will be rewarded with outgame points and titles that match your fame ranking. With the acquired points, you will be able to purchase decorative items such as skins for characters and other items.

[h2]Female characters [/h2]
Female characters have been finally added.
We will try our best to provide as many face/hair presets as possible. Male character presets will also be added as well.

[h2]New weapons added[/h2]
We will be adding new weapons with special abilities attached to them. In order to use these weapons, you are required to upgrade your guns and grant these weapons with protocols to use these special abilities. Special abilities will look like the followings:
- Guided bullets: If the target has been clearly set, shot that you have fired will be guided to the target for a certain period of time.
- Piercing bullets: This will be useful when you have to pierce through armors and vehicles.

Later on, we will be adding various special abilities such as grenade launchers and chemical ammos to provide various experiences in gun battles.

[Dev note] Preview: New world and new facilities

Hi, survivors
Hereโ€™s our upcoming update. Big time.

[h2]New Area - DELTA[/h2]
[h3]We are introducing Delta area with 5th new facility and boss.[/h3]


The delta area, which originally had the first facility built on Earth, was the place where compressed a large number of terrasites and transmitted to Orbis. Currently the area is turned into a vast volcanic field that burns everything nearby due to small scale of terrafire.


In the past, the facility was burnt down due to the war between Hyenas and Pioneers, and buried terrasites under the ground were activated and triggered a huge explosion of terrafire.

The discovery of terrasite buried underground on the surface is a sign of terrafire, which is why the terrafire count began, isnโ€™t it?

Please look forward to the new story of Delta Area.

[h2]New Boss Magma (undecided)[/h2]
[h3]New facility boss, Magma, is an enhanced version of the โ€œheavy-duty combat robot Juggernautโ€.[/h3]
It is a NPC that has a strong destructive power as Magma destroyed facilities during skirmishes with Pioneers in the past, turning the nearby area into a volcanic field.

Dysterra 2nd Server Stability Test Guide

Hi survivors,
Hereโ€™s a guide for 2nd servere stability test

Current SNF service โ€œ Dysterra Demoโ€app will end on June 22nd 00:30 (PDT), and we are planning on opening the 2nd stability test on June 22nd 02:30 (PDT).

- To increase the validity of the test, we will only open up two servers: One Asia PVP server, One America PVP server.
- Dysterra Demo play save files in Asia PVP1 and America PVP1 server will be synchronised to Dysterra playtest for 2nd Server Stability Test.
- Please understand that network latency differences may occur depending on the access area.
- If an issue occurs during the test, server restart and temporary maintenance may be carried out without any notice.
- Single Player and custom servers are not available for this test.

The end of SNF service and the start of 2nd Stability Test

Hi survivors,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you all for participating in our Steam Next Fest service.

This SNF service will end on the 21st of June (PDT) at 01:00 AM,
and we are planning on opening the 2nd stability test.


The end date for the SNF service has been postponed.
We will sustain the SNF service and servers until we have everything prepared for the next stability test. Please enjoy playing until we begin the next test : )
