Patch Notes: v0.4.1

We hope you’re all enjoying the plethora of new content we added to the game last week. This week has even more in store, including more in the store! We’ve added 3 new sets of armor, the ability to reset your character, and fixed a number of bugs.
Update Maintenance Time:
Thursday, May 18th
(PST) 00:00-02:00
(CET) 09:00-11:00
(KST) 16:00-18:00

Reset Your Character!

Are you unhappy with your character’s skills? Do you wish you could equip new or different perks? Well now you can!

We’ve added a new feature that allows survivors to redesign your character, reset any equipped perk cards, and even reset your characters skill points for you to redistribute them. Don’t worry, the first reset is free for each server, but subsequent resets will consume more and more TP(terrapoints/lobby currency) each time you reset your character on a given server. The cost will reset to zero after each Terrafire, so feel free to experiment and try different perks and skill stragtegies!

New Legendary Armor: Titanica

We’ve introduced 3 new sets of armor. These sets have strong energy resistance and excellent durability but are susceptible to explosion damage. One set will be craftable by default, another set’s recipe will need to be unlocked through the lobby store, and the third can only be acquired by purchasing it at a terrasite transmitter.

We’re experimenting with implementing new ways to acquire armor types and skins, so let us know what you think on our Discord server!

Terra Shop Update

We simplified the lobby’s Terra Shop interface by combining similar items into respective recipe boxes! We’ve also removed the Orbis Containers, and replaced them with recipe boxes that are sorted by skin-style, but include a variety of other skin recipes. If you like argyle patterns, you can buy an argyle skin recipe, and if you like skull patterns, you can try purchasing a skull skin box.

This will help people purchase what they want without being overwhelmed by a super-long list of items. That’s why we’ve also organized all of the housing decor into a single random box for users to purchase.

Improvements and Bug Fixes:

🔹 TerraShop: Removal of random boxes and addition of new random boxes.
🔹 Orbis Boxes: Removal of Orbis Boxes and addition of skin-themed boxes.
🔹 Discontinuation of individual sale of facility recipes and addition of facility boxes.
🔹 Fixed animation glitches occurring with certain NPCs.
🔹 Adjusted the amount of required materials for crafting 5-Tier equipment helmets and shoes.
🔹 Changed amount of fine titanium required for crafting fine alloy armor helmet from 20 to 10.
🔹 Fixed frame drop issue that occurred near EMP towers.
🔹 Changed description for Steam achievement related to using Terrasite Transmitters in order to reflect their new functionality.
🔹 Fixed issue where vehicle explosions ignore player armor stats. Players should now receive less damage depending on the explosion stat of their equipped armor.

Season 3: Cybernetics Augmented
Get ready for Season 3: Cybernetics Augmented!
If you’ve been following our patch notes for a while, you’d know that we’ve been working on a major update for the game. With new content comes new responsibilities, so we’ve also decided that now is the best time to reset the rankings and start a new season on May 12th!

There’s a lot in this update, but my personal favorite is perks! Dysterra now has a way for players to level up their characters outside of their servers! We’re also introducing uncapped servers, so if the majority of players on a server don’t want to wipe, they can work together to extend the life of the server indefinitely. Keep reading to learn more about what’s new!

Perk up your character

Are you ready to take your gameplay to the next level? Our game's latest feature, "Perks," is here to give you the boost you need! Perks are powerful items that can help you unlock your character's full potential and stand out among other survivors.
Note: Perks are currently only available on official servers. Single-player and Custom Servers will be supported in the near future.
Each perk has two features, one to give you a head start when starting a new server, and another to give you an advantage in the later stages of gameplay. With perks, you can start a new server with a skill point already slotted for a particular skill(eg. Healing Speed) , and you can increase your character's maximum skill level for a specific skill(eg. Rocket launcher reload speed) so you’ll be able to upgrade it 4 times instead of the usual 3.

And the best part is: Perks will be available for purchase in the game lobby’s Terra Shop. So be sure to head over to the lobby after we update on Friday, and get ready to dominate the servers like never before! If you want even better perks, you can get them after your server’s terrafire event. Higher server rankings will result in better perks as a reward, and successfully boarding the escape rocket will result in an extra boost to the quality of the perk you receive.
Learn more about how perks work on our Fandom Wiki.

Skill Changes
Due to the implementation of perks, we’re also making some balancing changes to skills.

Max Skill Level: Lvl. 86 -> Lvl. 70
XP Required for 1st Skill Level: 850 -> 1000
Total XP required to reach Max Level: 484,040 -> 475,810

Faster Farming during Terrafire Countdown

We’ve increased the amount of items you’ll receive during the final countdown. Everything will be gathered at 200% except select items including weapons, armor, quest items, or protocols.
This may cause some issues with inventory management, so anything over your maximum stack size will be discarded.

New Server Type With No Upper Limit

A large number of players have expressed a desire for servers with lifespans that can be extended indefinitely. We’ve been listening and are happy to be releasing “uncapped” servers. They’ll still have a minimum lifespan of 14 days to prevent abuse of facility skills, but the maximum lifespan cap has been removed. With the addition of new servers, we’ve decided to remove South America PvP to keep server populations in the Americas from thinning out across too many servers.

We’ll be including both PvE and PvP versions, so you’ll have plenty of time to build the base of your dreams, no cap.

New Season!

We’re starting a new season with this update. That means all servers will be wiped regardless of the time remaining on the countdown timer.
Rankings will also be set back to zero during our maintenance.

Anyone that logs in after the update will also get one(1) free perk to get them started!

New Area to the Bunker!

We’ve added a third area to the bunker! Inside the new portal, you’ll find unique rare items to help you manage your base, but be sure to give it a visit after you’ve defeated everything else in the bunker’s 2nd section (including the variant), or you just might needlessly die.

New Type of Hacking Box!

The new hacking box is called a ‘Pioneer Cryptex’. And inside it is sealed a very useful endgame item that our more experienced survivors will certainly appreciate: a terrasite crystal that powers your Building Core by 300,000 units. (Fine Terrasite = 5,000 units)

New Enemy : The Marauder!

Be sure to bring a friend when you enter the new deep, dark area of the bunker. The Marauder is the Variant’s bigger, scarier older brother. He’ll tear you apart if you don’t come ready for a fight.

Once you finally manage to defeat a marauder, you’ll get a special item that can be used at the Terrasite Transmitter for a very generous amount of points.

Transmitter Changes 🏃‍♂️

If you’re lonely, look to the skies! Using one of the terrasite transmitters with a pole on top of it will result in a flash of light that will alert other players to your presence. It flashes every time you make a transaction, so be careful and watch your back!

We’re changing transmitters so that you can send regular items to supply the Orbis satellite. The upper-class citizens of Orbis are more than happy to pay extra units for vintage and rare items like the rings you can find on the new Marauder mob.

We’re also changing the transmitter’s item selection to where it will refresh every 24 hours (real-world time).

There are also now some transmitter-use-only items in the game, so be sure to check an item’s description when you find something new.

New Base-parts 🏠

We’ve added ramp walls to the game. You’ll now be able to add slanted roofs to your builds to provide extra coverage from attacks from above, or you can layer them in between two regular walls to create a new type of honeycombing defense. Be creative and let us know what new uses you find for our new wall-types!

Also, you no longer need bolts to repair your base!

Frag Grenades are the new Siege Weapon 💥🏠

Several players have expressed frustration about the inability to eliminate turrets when looting. In our search for balance, we’ve decided that frag grenades are the best option for turret attacks. So don’t forget to bring a stack or two for your next looting run!

Safer PvE! ✌️

Facility skills that cause damage to other players are being removed completely from PvE servers. You should now be able to build your base in peace, and enjoy meeting your neighbors as you level up through the game. (Please note that all skills remain unchanged on PvP servers.)
Affected Skills

Chemochamber - Dust Storm
🔹Will only affect mobs.
Geolab: Seismic Waves
🔹Will not damage player bases.
🔹Mobs will still quake while affected.
Meteocenter: Thermal Cooling
🔹Thermal changes only affect mobs.
Satellite Station: EMP Shockwave
🔹Will only affect mobs.
🔹Player bases will not be affected.
🔹Ability to use energy weapons will not be affected.

Balance & Bugs

We’re also patching a few bugs and rebalancing a few things with this update:
🔹Fixed an error with the key guide HUD regarding housing management.
🔹Fixed doors so they render in a way that doesn’t let you see inside of people’s bases.
🔹Terrasite miners will take a bit longer to mine.
🔹Miners overall will consume more energy.
🔹Terrafire changes to reduce facility skill abuse.
🔹Fixed an exploit that allowed players to peek through roofs.
🔹Optimization changes to the Hyena Dropship event.
