Optimization & Improvements Update

Greetings Hunters!


Today we bring you a huge optimization and improvements update! There are significant improvements to cpu, and ram usage and loading times. The update also includes improvements to animals, animations, ragdolls, other changes and of course bug fixes. Read full notes below and happy hunting!

  • Added more environmental details
  • Added more fallen trees
  • Added signposts along paths and roads
  • Added bushes on grasslands
  • Improved leaf tree billboards
  • Added new crossing places on main river


  • Significant animal optimization
  • Improved pathfinding of animals’ flee behavior
  • Improved pathfinding of animals’ wander behavior
  • Improvements on animals’ rest time behavior
  • Improvements on deer species ragdolls
  • Impvements on several animal animations
  • Increased possibility to find eating / resting animals soon after arriving to the reserve


  • Player can no longer walk underwater in lakes, ponds and main river
  • Material changes on items and albino European hare
  • Changed the shape and color of ammo item
  • Reduced the backpack’s return distance
  • Changed the games compression back to normal. This increases the games size on disk but updates are again smaller and faster to download.


  • Massive memory optimization
  • CPU optimization
  • Improved reserve loading speed
  • Added “ultra” texture quality. This uses significantly more RAM but improves most texture quality.
  • Improved door’s usability
  • Digital clock texture rework
  • Shooting range control box texture rework
  • Improved hunting stand textures
  • Adjusted inventory lock button activation angle
  • Inventory lock button’s icon is disabled when it can’t be pressed
  • Added a delay on taxidermy confirm button to prevent accidental taxidermy actions
  • Ammo box UI renders on top of the meshes so it’s always visible
  • Several LOD distance adjustments
  • All outposts except the outpost used in tutorial are locked until the tutorial is completed so players can’t accidentally travel to them during tutorial deer hunting


  • Fixed an issue where animal tracks would sometimes float in the air at certain locations on the map
  • Fixed an issue where pressing the inventory lock button was possible in certain situations even when it shouldn’t be
  • Fixed an issue where the player can “fly” using stance up button when in-game menu was open
  • Fixed an issue where ammo item UI was always on the left side of the box even when the box was placed in the left inventory slot
  • Fixed an issue where the rangefinder snap on face setting didn’t support left handed mode and snapped always on the right eye
  • Fixed an issue where animals might stare at player during fleeing
  • Fixed floating vegetation in certain part of the map
  • Fixed an issue where animal call estimate given by mobile tracker could be negative
  • Fixed an issue where animals were pushing each others too easily when walking past
  • Fixed an issue where animals sometimes teleported short distances during feed time
  • Fixed an issue where some hints were activated on a new play session even when they were confirmed during the last one
  • Fixed an issue were the old map item hint starts flashing yellow after dropping the map and player couldn’t close it
  • Fixed an issue where callers sometimes broke feeding animals

Shadow And Lighting Update

Hello Hunters!

We have a new update for you with improvements to the lighting, added soft shadows, improved fog and other environment changes! We heard your feedback about the game being too dark and grey so this update should significantly improve that. We also adjusted the sizes of male/female wild boars to better fit their real life sizes and they are now easier to tell apart by size.

This update also includes more improvements, optimizations, fixes and much more!

  • Added more environmental details
  • Added significantly improved shadows
  • Increased sun intensity
  • Decreased grayness during cloudy weather
  • Added more fog during morning, evening and foggy weather
  • Changed sun disk color to white during morning/evening
  • Adjusted wild boar sizes to better reflect differences between male and female and their weight


  • Removed auto exposure for more consistent lighting
  • Adjusted inventory lock-buttons’ activation angle to prevent accidentally using it (Player must look steeper down until the button can be pressed)
  • Adjusted colliders of fallen trees
  • Changed shelter unlock notification text from "opened" to "unlocked"
  • Adjusted post-processing
  • Adjusted duration of rain and stormy weathers
  • Rain sound will fade out faster


  • Fixed an issue where unlocked shelters didn’t correctly reset on quick hunt map when changing a save in the main menu
  • Fixed an issue where cross and silver fur variants were missing in Trophy manager filters
  • Fixed an issue where silver and cross red fox variants used normal fur when placed on mounts in Trophy lodge
  • Fixed an issue where shadows casted by distant mountains disappeared when looking away from mountains
  • Fixed an issue where animals could go through large rocks and cliffs in certain areas
  • Fixed an issue where correct weather settings didn’t load properly when player traveled to the reserve
  • Fixed an issue where correct weather settings didn’t load properly after changing time in the reserve
  • Fixed an issue where changing time in reserve causes short lag spike
  • Fixed an issue where wooden target button removed the target in shooting range
  • Fixed an issue where a scope placed on .303 British wasn’t correctly centered on the gun when using left hand as a primary hand
  • Fixed an issue where deer species’ run animation speed was too slow
  • Fixed an issue where deers’ hurt walk animation didn’t loop
  • Fixed an issue where red deers’ rare fur trophy images didn’t show in the harvest screen

Discover this vast and open hunting ground that offers a large biome diversity from grasslands to dense forests and rocky mountain sides. With improved landscape and environment details, this over four times bigger map will replace the old one. You can find all of the current animals from the map, enjoying their new territories.

  • Reworked map borders. Instead of a collider, the player receives recommendation to turn around, and eventually will be teleported to latest outpost if they don’t

  • Morning fog will last longer
  • Decreased branch cracking sound possibility

  • Added give up -button on tracking part of the tutorial in case the player can’t find the deer and wants to give up. Task will fail and the player doesn’t get a reward but the mandatory tutorial will be successful. Harvesting part still activates from the first harvest.
  • Fixed an issue where sorting by date didn’t work in Trophy manager
  • Fixed an issue where part of the fallow deers’ spine were missing
  • Fixed an issue where the arrow didn’t function properly with the white bow in left handed mode
  • Fixed an issue where bush rustle sound remains on if the player stood in a bush during fast travel or traveling to the lodge
  • Fixed and issue where silver fallow deer trophy statue didn’t have antlers
  • Fixed an issue where tutorial didn’t completely reset if the player went back to main menu and selected a different save
  • Fixed an issue where the hand got stuck on bolt during tutorial if the player touched it before shooting range section
  • Changed “doe” text to “hind” in tutorial
  • Fixed an issue where the player could change their stance during ladder teleport, and might end up below the terrain because of that
  • Added weather sounds under SFX audio master
  • Added flies sounds under SFX audio master
  • Fixed an issue where flies audio was active on droppings even if there weren’t any flies
  • Fixed an issue where some variants of fallow deer antlers didn’t move with the animal after spawning
  • Fixed an rare issue where damage system of singular animal broke if the player shot certain objects in certain order at certain time frame
  • Fixed an issue where the player could grab the revolver from secondary grab point in certain situations and this causes some visual bugs and two left hands
  • Several fixes on animal behavior to prevent animals getting stuck
  • Fixed an issue where fast travel broke if the player grabbed the map after pressing a fast travel button
  • Fixed an issue where things broke if the player grabbed or ungrabbed rifle with arrow in hand
  • Fixed an issue where dead or spine hit animals didn't change LODs
  • Fixed an issue where river and lake sound volume is low at night and early morning
  • Fixed an issue where hands caused sounds when colliding with items in inventory
  • Fixed an issue where pheasant walking sounds played several times at once
  • Fixed an issue where walking through the vegetation and branches might play
  • Several small fixes to ballistic system
  • Several other smaller fixes
