Difficulty Levels Update

In this update we are happy to add difficulty levels to the game! There are now three to choose from: casual, hunter and realistic. Animals in casual mode have weaker senses and it is perfect when you just want to go on a relaxing hunt. It also helps you locate animals by highlighting an animal when you activate their call.

When you want to really push your hunting skills, realistic mode provides a real challenge! Animals have strong senses so getting close leaves very little room for mistakes. Track and carcass highlights are also turned off by default so good shot placement is key since tracking will be more difficult. They can be turned back on from the settings. This mode provides higher rewards. Hunter is the default difficulty that the game has offered so far.

You can change the difficulty when starting the game but it can’t be changed during gameplay. Trophy statues in the trophy room will also display the difficulty level.

We also adjusted vegetation settings so please test and adjust them. More about this change is in the patch notes below.

  • Added three difficulty settings: casual, hunter and realistic
  • Casual has lower animal senses, activating an animal call will highlight the animal, and rewards are smaller
  • Hunter is the default difficulty that the game has been so far. Animal hearing and sight are slightly increased in closer distance.
  • Realistic mode is a real challenge for master hunters! It has strong animal senses, track and carcase highlights are turned off by default but it provides higher rewards.
  • You can change the difficulty at the main menu but it can’t be changed during gameplay


  • Improved far away terrains and their textures
  • Vegetation graphic settings reworked and adjusted*
  • Increased vegetation distance in higher settings**
  • Added reverb zones to forests and mountains to create slight echo for weapons and callers


  • Reworked animal tracks (new highlights, new texture to make it easier to track without highlights)
  • Improved animal pathfinding on steep slopes
  • Improved animal need time behavior and travel distances


  • Added difficulty level info on trophy statues
  • Improved loading time when traveling into the reserve
  • Adjusted droppings’ LODs


  • Fixed an issue where water would render on top of the fog
  • Fixed an issue where animals could only see 90 degrees in front of them
  • Fixed another issue that caused floating tracks on a specific locations of the map
  • Fixed an issue where outpost buttons on quick hunt map didn’t work and the player always ended up on the same outpost
  • Fixed an issue where arrow would keep snapping and unsnapping when realistic bow setting was on
  • Fixed an issue where impact audios were heard beyond the maximum audio distance
  • Fixed an issue where some SFX audios weren’t tied on SFX audio slider
  • Fixed structure colliders on shooting range
  • Fixed an issue where proper sound didn’t play when walking on shooting range
  • Fixed an issue where one shooting range control box changed the distance of another lanes target

* Grass and plant densities were grouped under one button and low density was increased to the previous medium setting. There weren’t much difference in performance between these two and the game looked much worse in low setting before.
** Low and medium distances remain relatively the same but high and ultra settings render vegetation further than before. Ultra setting is much further so we advise you to test these settings yourself.

Optimization & Improvements #2

Hello Hunters!


While working on the next major update, we wanted to put out this small patch with more improvements, changes and bug fixes that the community has reported to us! Most notably a new icon to shelters on Bulgaria map, improved textures to the .303 British rifle, changed how animals walk on slopes and more! Read full notes below and happy hunting!

  • Added more signposts
  • Changed how animals walk on slopes
  • Added a setting to change which eye is shown in the game view
  • Changed Early Access notification text in main menu
  • Added a new icon for shelters on Bulgaria map
  • Improved high quality shadows
  • Improved textures of .303 British rifle
  • Improved bedding textures inside shelters
  • Increased the harvest screen grab areas
  • Adjusted certain LOD’s
  • Hints are now save file specific so each new save shows all hints again by default (Hints can still be turned off from settings. This change will reset all confirmed hints from the current players)
  • Fixed an issue where paralyzed animals didn’t register hits when shot close range
  • Fixed an issue where wounded animals of certain species sometimes got stuck when running far enough from the player
  • Fixed an issue where dead animals body didn’t highlight
  • Fixed an issue where items sometimes end up inside backpack even if the backpack was closed and placed on back or left in the store
  • Fixed an issue where the harvest screen sometimes end up too close to the terrain or even through it
  • Fixed an issue where already confirmed hints activated after launching a game
  • Fixed an issue where .303 and .223 ammo boxes weren’t visible in the store
  • Fixed an issue where the ultra texture quality button was highlighted if high quality was on
  • Fixed back slot locations
  • Fixed floating texts on some signposts

Optimization & Improvements Update

Today we bring you a huge optimization and improvements update! There are significant improvements to cpu, and ram usage and loading times. The update also includes improvements to animals, animations, ragdolls, other changes and of course bug fixes. Read full notes below and happy hunting!

  • Added more environmental details
  • Added more fallen trees
  • Added signposts along paths and roads
  • Added bushes on grasslands
  • Improved leaf tree billboards
  • Added new crossing places on main river


  • Significant animal optimization
  • Improved pathfinding of animals’ flee behavior
  • Improved pathfinding of animals’ wander behavior
  • Improvements on animals’ rest time behavior
  • Improvements on deer species ragdolls
  • Impvements on several animal animations
  • Increased possibility to find eating / resting animals soon after arriving to the reserve


  • Player can no longer walk underwater in lakes, ponds and main river
  • Material changes on items and albino European hare
  • Changed the shape and color of ammo item
  • Reduced the backpack’s return distance
  • Changed the games compression back to normal. This increases the games size on disk but updates are again smaller and faster to download.


  • Massive memory optimization
  • CPU optimization
  • Improved reserve loading speed
  • Added “ultra” texture quality. This uses significantly more RAM but improves most texture quality.
  • Improved door’s usability
  • Digital clock texture rework
  • Shooting range control box texture rework
  • Improved hunting stand textures
  • Adjusted inventory lock button activation angle
  • Inventory lock button’s icon is disabled when it can’t be pressed
  • Added a delay on taxidermy confirm button to prevent accidental taxidermy actions
  • Ammo box UI renders on top of the meshes so it’s always visible
  • Several LOD distance adjustments
  • All outposts except the outpost used in tutorial are locked until the tutorial is completed so players can’t accidentally travel to them during tutorial deer hunting


  • Fixed an issue where animal tracks would sometimes float in the air at certain locations on the map
  • Fixed an issue where pressing the inventory lock button was possible in certain situations even when it shouldn’t be
  • Fixed an issue where the player can “fly” using stance up button when in-game menu was open
  • Fixed an issue where ammo item UI was always on the left side of the box even when the box was placed in the left inventory slot
  • Fixed an issue where the rangefinder snap on face setting didn’t support left handed mode and snapped always on the right eye
  • Fixed an issue where animals might stare at player during fleeing
  • Fixed floating vegetation in certain part of the map
  • Fixed an issue where animal call estimate given by mobile tracker could be negative
  • Fixed an issue where animals were pushing each others too easily when walking past
  • Fixed an issue where animals sometimes teleported short distances during feed time
  • Fixed an issue where some hints were activated on a new play session even when they were confirmed during the last one
  • Fixed an issue were the old map item hint starts flashing yellow after dropping the map and player couldn’t close it
  • Fixed an issue where callers sometimes broke feeding animals
