DREDGE x Team17

Explore a mysterious archipelago and fish the unfathomable next year on Steam!

Team17 and New Zealand-based developer Black Salt Games have today announced a publishing partnership to bring DREDGE, an upcoming single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent, to Steam and consoles in 2023.

In DREDGE, players will step into the boots of a down-on-their luck fisherman and explore a collection of remote isles while scouring the surrounding depths for a variety of fish and valuable deep-sea curios. Once their trawler is full, they can sell their haul to the peculiar locals while completing quests and unravelling more about each archipelago. They can also reinforce their vessel, skills, and knowledge to dredge deeper and reach more secluded lands.

Beginning in their new home in the remote islands of ‘The Marrows’, players will be able to investigate each area while completing tasks for the yesteryear locals and taking trips to neighbouring regions - each with their own unique fish to find, inhabitants to meet, and secrets to uncover.

Apprentice anglers and associate ichthyologists can enjoy a brand-new announcement trailer below:

Development Update: Sprint 21 Recap

We finish the year off with filling out Gale Cliffs building models and adding in full support for control remapping on PC!

We're now weighing up whether to support control remapping on consoles, what do you all think? One mapping to rule them all, or give players the freedom to choose (and potentially really mess up their play experience)? Drop us a comment below with your thoughts or stop by our Discord: https://discord.gg/DtgjkKvXeP

Development Update: Sprint 19 Recap

A short and sweet update for you all this week -- we've added in Destructible Walls that will allow players to access shortcuts and hidden caches of treasures if they're savvy enough to find them. Golden notches can now also appear on your fishing reel -- you'll have one shot of hitting the golden notch, if you do you instantly catch a trophy sized fish, if you miss it though you'll have to wait for the next big one to come along.

Finally some character concepts and fish art to share with you as well.

Development Update: Sprint 18 Recap

We've been working away building our second area of Dredge; The Gale Cliffs - check out what the zone is going to look like in our video below!

We've also added fish that will only appear at night for those brave souls willing to venture out in the fog, and special fishing spots that are easier to see in the dark and might net you some valuable, if strange, creatures.

+ a few more bits and pieces:
  • Player feedback banners for key events
  • World art update to add ambient fish particles
