Nominate DREDGE for the 2023 Steam Awards!

Hey Anglers,

The 2023 Steam Awards are here! Steam is inviting players to nominate their favourite game within a specific award category. If you’ve enjoyed DREDGE this year, then we’d love it if you could nominate us in the ‘Best Game on Steam Deck’ category.

However, if you’d like to nominate us for a different category, then we think the following categories, in the following order, suit DREDGE best:

  • Best Game on Steam Deck
  • Best Soundtrack
  • Game of the Year
  • Outstanding Visual Style

Whether it's DREDGE or another game, your nomination counts for a lot. There have been a lot of great games released this year, so make sure you consider them for a nomination too if you don't nominate DREDGE.
Why should you vote for DREDGE for ‘Best Game on Steam Deck’?
There's nothing like the feeling of seeing hard work paying off and that is definitely the case with our portable controls! We spent countless hours with our wonderful playtesters trying to create what felt the most intuitive and comfortable for long play sessions, and we have to thank them for their patience and honest feedback, helping us get the positive responses we did.

Players tell us DREDGE is the perfect game for a long flight or a commute, if you feel the same please nominate DREDGE for Best Game on Steam Deck at this year's Steam Awards.

“Dredge continues to run extremely well right out of the box, making it one of our Best on Deck games!” - Steam Deck HQ
Patch Notes:

For owners of The Pale Reach
• Added The Pale Reach area - and all the features and content it contains.
    • Players can check their map to see how to get to this new area.
For all players
•
Features
• Added a “Control Icon Style” setting to the Display tab. This can be used to force the game to use Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo Switch button icons, instead of attempting to detect what’s plugged in.
    • Added a “Heartbeat SFX” setting to the Accessibility tab. This can be disabled to silence in-game SFX that feature a heartbeat. (These SFX are mostly in The Pale Reach)
    • Added Razer Chroma integration for a number of in-game effects.
  •
Adjustments
• The “Quests” and “Messages” screens now have multiple tabs.
    • Increased the size of the Message Detail window, and the text size.
    • Added an “Additional Content” button to the main menu.
    • Slightly rearranged the Encyclopedia layout to show an icon representing the area that a species is found in.
    • Equipment that provides an aberration bonus will now provide it all the time (previously, damaged equipment would not add its bonus to the total).
    • V-sync is now enabled by default for new players.
    • Added and updated some names in the Credits.
  •
Fixes
• The game should no longer silently overwrite a corrupt save when loading from the main menu. It will now show an error message directing players to customer support for recovery assistance.
    • Fixed an issue introduced in 1.3.0 that caused crashes when reading some messages in some languages.
    • Fixed an issue where the dock at Ingfell would disappear if you looked at it from the wrong angle.
    • Fixed an issue where the previous line of dialogue would show for a frame as the new line was loading in, making it look and feel as though you’d accidentally skipped over a line. This issue was more prevalent in Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages.
    • Fixed an issue where restoring settings back to default would cause the game to forget which save to use for the ‘Continue’ button.
    • Fixed an issue where the in-game time would slow or sometimes stop progressing completely for some players. This usually occurred on long-running saves of over 150 days of in-game progress.
    • Fixed an issue where some Red Snapper, Barreleye and Ghost Shark fishing spots were not repopulating correctly.
    • Fixed an issue where a couple of the wildlife encounters could very occasionally breach through islands.
    • Fixed an issue with a collision box on one of the islands in Stellar Basin.

Sea of Stars is one of 2023's stunning nominees for best indie game

Sea of Stars is genuinely one of the most breathtaking little RPG gems I've had the pleasure of playing this year, but Sabotage Studio's pixel-art indie is just one of many brilliant games to come from great independent developers in 2023. The Game Awards revealed its nominees for the Best Independent Game category, including the ever-enchanting Sea of Stars as well as other cozy entries like Mintrocket's Dave the Diver and Black Salt Games' Dredge.

The best indie game of 2023 just hit one million downloads

There are a lot of things to love about Dredge. You've got the relaxing fishing, the absolutely gorgeous art style, and, of course, the creepy, mutated fish that have overtaken the waters surrounding Greater Marrow. Fusing relaxing elements with spine-tingling horror, Dredge is my favorite indie of 2023, and it looks like I'm not alone.
