Going by its trailer, Dredge's The Pale Reach DLC is a blend of new and familiar chills


Following boldly in the wake of The Thing, The Terror and, errrr, the experimental artist Ellie Ga, who spent months drawing and sketching aboard a drifting icelocked research vessel, Black Salt and Team 17's Lovecraftian fishing sim Dredge is heading to the Arctic in its first DLC pack, The Pale Reach. One of 2023's best indie games just got a huge expansion

Dredge was unexpectedly one of my favorite games this year. I didn't think it would play poorly or anything like that, I just never thought that I would find such comfort in a horror-aligned experience. I can easily lose hours of my life traversing the game's Lovecraftian waters, and always find myself wishing for more story content. Thankfully, my wish is coming true as Black Salt Games has revealed a shiny new Dredge expansion. The DLC is called The Pale Reach, and it's bringing us to much icier depths.

DREDGE: The Pale Reach

We're happy to share what we've been working on for the last few months - our first official DLC for DREDGE, The Pale Reach!

On November 16th, you'll be able to explore the treacherous ice fields to discover a mystery frozen under the ice. You'll retrace the steps of the last crew that came before you and unearth a story of bitter betrayal. Find some familiar faces and develop new equipment to navigate the area and profit from its inhabitants.

Team17 hit by redundancies - UK firm latest to suffer layoffs

Team 17 has responded to our request for comment with the following statement:

“In response to the reports concerning the departure of Michael Pattison from Team17, we can confirm we have amicably parted ways with Michael. We can also confirm that we have sadly entered into a period of consultation today within Team17 Digital, with Astragon and Storytoys remaining unaffected by the restructuring plans.”

Team 17 - the British developer and publisher behind beloved indies including Dredge, Blasphemous 2, and Moving Out 2 – is facing a wave of layoffs. According to an anonymous source familiar with the situation at the studio, this has resulted in the CEO being let go, as well as "tens of redundancies".
