No Man’s Sky's Aquarius update brings a touch of Dredge to the cosmos by letting you become an interstellar fisherperson

If you enjoy standing by virtual bodies of water and praying that you've picked the right worm to tempt what dwells within to take a little nibble, the latest update for No Man's Sky is definitely for you. Dubbed Aquarius, it arrives today, September 4, and is all about reeling in alien fish via a bunch of new mechanics.

Following on from the pretty popular Worlds Update part one - which revamped planet biomes with stuff like fresh weather effects and more immersive water - Hello Games has been inspired by a bit of Reddit fan art to give folks the chance to embrace their inner angler.

As outlined in the patch notes and the trailer below, Aquarius adds fishing to the game via new systems that'll let players "explore the universe to find their perfect waterside spot, hopping with fish - sit and relax alone with their thoughts, or with fellow Travelers looking out over alien vistas waiting for a bite."

DREDGE Hotfix v1.5.2

Hey Anglers,

We've just released update 1.5.2 for DREDGE.

This update fixes a handful of bugs and improves a few areas that have been catching players out since our release of The Iron Rig the other week.
Patch Notes:

Adjustments
• Exotic bait no longer requires the correct rod to be equipped in order for it to be placed. You'll still need the correct rod to catch whatever shows up though!
 • The Foreman will make it clearer that you can talk to him if you run out of ooze patches to siphon up.
 • Increased the size of the ooze markers on the map.
 • Added a map marker for the rig's location before you visit it.
 • Added 1-2 nautiloids to each of their spawn locations.
Fixes
• Fixed an item duplication bug.
 • The portal from the Aurous Anchor now visually layers better when placed on ooze.
 • The Leviathan will no longer be able to consume players as they're in the process of docking at the rig.
 • Fixed an issue where one patch of ooze couldn't be fully cleared in Twisted Strand under certain conditions.
 • Fixed an issue where players could mark bait spots on their map, causing a number of flow-on issues with the map and spyglass.
 • A handful of small text fixes.

Additionally, the whole team is incredibly grateful for your support. The reception to The Iron Rig has exceeded our expectations, and we're so happy you've enjoyed diving back into the world of DREDGE.

As if Dredge couldn't get any better, there's some slick new DLC

As a Scottish person, I'm relatively accustomed to seeing oil rigs. They're dotted across the north of Scotland, looming eerily in the distance, often drenched in sea mist and framed by gray skies. Most recently, we saw Still Wakes the Deep transform one of our rigs into a twisted, nightmare-infested hellhole, and Dredge is looking to follow in its footsteps. The fishing game's latest DLC, The Iron Rig, drops today, and I'm far too excited about it.
