SingingSwordsman plays new handless roguelike deckbuilder Mori Carta! Come check it out!

Endless Library, Endless Updates

So, yeah... Endless Library, right? We know, we know. We heard you and decided to make it exhaust on the left. Hopefully this will make the card more usable. Experiment with it and see what you can make for yourself.

Also, while we were doing this update, we decided to fix a couple of other things.

  1. There was a bug when using the arrow keys in the swap offering, where you couldn't send the cards up with the up arrow after the first one. This issue has now been resolved and the arrow keys should function properly.
  2. Keyboard and gamepad controls didn't work on the bounty screen at all. How embarrassing! When we implemented that system, we forgot to check for those controls. Well now they should be working properly. Also I should mention here that we don't currently have full keyboard and gamepad controls for the whole game. That will be coming soon in a later update. Stay tuned for that.
  3. There was a super secret card that was updated as well, but I'll leave it to you to figure out which one it was.

That's it for now. Keep the feedback coming and we'll keep the updates coming.

Save File Bug & Recovery

Hey there everybody!

It has come to our attention that the 1.0 build this morning had a bug that would reset a players save file. We patched it within an hour, but if you played before then, your save file was reset.

We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused for our Early Access members.

At this time if you reach out to us through Discord or email we are restoring lost save files. It may not be a perfect recovery, but we will work with you to get back your lost time. We will ask you to provide information about your progress, the more specific you are the better we can recover your progress.

Please don't hesitate to reach out. And again, we apologize if this happened to you. It was our mistake.

Best,
Seth "SingingSwordsman" Cornwall

Update for split swap cards

One more launch update for today. This one is super minor and most of you probably won't even notice the change, but it's important to us that we address the feedback we get from you, our players. Know that we read all of the feedback that you send us. We appreciate all of your support!

- Fixed a bug with swapping a split card. Our formula for comparing cards had some trouble when it came to cards that were split. As a result, half of the time when you swap a card that was split, it would swap the wrong one. But this has now been resolved and cards should be swapped correctly.
- Fixed a minor bug with the archive view. When you open the archive view during a run, it will default to the tab of your current archetype. However, if you clicked on the Scholar's tab, nothing would happen. This has been resolved and you will see the Scholar cards update now.
- There were a few other bug fixes around the visualization of the map nodes.

That's it for now. I hope you all are enjoying the game! Keep the feedback coming!

Mori Carta 1.0

1.0 Patch Notes

Hello to all you Mori Cartians out there, new and old! Welcome to the 1.0 release patch notes! Over the past five years, the team at Nevergreen Games has created a truly new “handless” roguelike deckbuilder. Some of you are very familiar with what Mori Carta has to offer, but many of you have yet to embark on your journey with the Fool, Hau, the Embertree, and all the other characters you’ve yet to meet. We are super excited for you to play Mori Carta!

For the first time ever, players will be able to play the fifth and final class of Mori Carta:

The Possessed!
The Possessed is a tragic figure embodying the vibrant dance between life and death. Their journey is one of sorrow and resilience, marked by the inexorable march towards destiny. They come with a dramatic new special ability, Martyrdom! They can cast cards by taking damage, drawing strength from the sacrifice of both friend and foe.

To unlock the possessed players will need to beat the "Beast of Change" enemy with each of the other 4 classes.

Huge changes to the Trickster!
Playing at 7 energy is the Trickster's character ability but it was not a huge part of play as getting to 7 and staying there was challenging. We've reworked the Trickster, buffing their starting energy to 5 from 3 and many of their cards now give half their energy cost back. If you're at 7 this half refund becomes a full refund, allowing you to stay at 7! To balance this out, and maintain the Trickster's identity as a daredevil, we are returning to having their doubling ability apply to all cards, not just friendly ones.

Future Support Beyond Launch!
Mori Carta isn’t going up on the shelf just yet. We have a couple features in mind that our small team of 4 couldn’t get in for the 1.0 launch, such as controller support and localization. Support for Mori Carta will continue alongside other projects as we stride into the future of game development.

Besides this we will continue to keep an eye out for bugs and problems in the community and support the game in that way as well.

Tune in to the stream over at https://www.twitch.tv/singingswordsman today and all through this week! SingingSwordsman also plans to continue to stream Mori Carta on Tuesday evenings, so tune in for your weekly fix of Mori Carta.

Thank You!
To all those who supported us, our playtesters, friends, family, and collaborators. It has been an honor to get to share development with you.
