HUMANITY Community News Vol. 1

Hey everyone! In this first volume of HUMANITY Community News we're celebrating over 5,000 stages shared by the community, the first user to reach Player Level 99 in USER STAGES, and telling you all about our Discord Creator Workshop. Let's get to it!

[h2]Over 5,000 Stages Uploaded[/h2]

In addition to HUMANITY's STORY MODE, there's an ever-growing library of USER STAGES. And we just reached a milestone there: Community members have uploaded five THOUSAND stages. That's an amazing number that continues to increase as more and more players discover HUMANITY.



How do you play all this amazing content? From the title screen, go to USER STAGES. You'll be brought right away to our STAGES WE LOVE playlist, updated twice weekly with a hand-selected batch of levels to invigorate your puzzle-solving skills. Or come back every day for THE DAILY FIVE, a new playlist refreshed daily with five certifiably excellent community-made levels.

[h2]The First To 99[/h2]

Congratulations to knighting, the first of our community members to reach the maximum Player Level. In HUMANITY's USER STAGES, you gain XP as you play and finish stages. You get more XP for completing more difficult ones and collecting Goldy, and the XP threshold required to get to the next level increases as you advance.

For those of you yet to jump into the USER STAGES community, knighting has this to say to you: “There’s a lot of fun, difficult puzzles in USER STAGES. Try checking out the Top Favorites playlist to get a good sample of what you can find, and maybe search for top-rated with some tags of what you liked from STORY MODE.”

[h2]On Our Discord: The Creator Workshop![/h2]

Want to get involved in making stages but not sure where to start? On our Discord we have a creator-workshop channel where creators of all skill levels gather to discuss making levels. And each week (or so) we land on a communal theme, encouraging our community to make stages based on that theme.

This week’s theme is “COMPACT” - creating smaller, focused puzzles. Hop into the Discord to chat about this challenge and stay tuned for the debut of a playlist featuring these stages!

BUG FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS


  • [STEAM] In OPTIONS, fixed a bug where the customized mouse wheel keybinding would not display correctly and could not be changed.
  • [STEAM] In STAGE CREATOR, fixed a bug that prevented the player from moving the cursor position when entering stage name text.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed various collision issues that would occur when Boulders were placed on top of a Conveyor Belt.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed an issue where Pushable Blocks would ignore collision rules when grouped and occasionally become stuck in walls.
  • [ALL] In STORY MODE, fixed a bug where the "Wonderdog" trophy/achievement could not be obtained after successfully completing all seven challenges. Please submit a support ticket if you still experience this bug.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed a bug where not all of a Missile Unit’s red points of impact would be visible to the player before it fired.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed a bug where play stats were not recorded after the player reached Level 99.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed a bug that would cause Motorized Drones placed via the STAGE CREATOR’s COPY command to make random movements.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed a bug that prevented gates from being destroyed when placed in front of Block Lasers.
  • [ALL] In STAGE CREATOR, fixed an issue that prevented players from using Undo.
  • [ALL] In STAGE CREATOR, fixed an issue that caused the Filter to reset after switching between mouse/keyboard and controller input.
  • [ALL] In STAGE CREATOR, fixed a bug that prevented Data Size from updating after adding or deleting the route to a Motorized Block.
  • [ALL] In STAGE CREATOR, fixed a bug where the number of Pushable Blocks/Pushable Laser Blocks per stage would be counted incorrectly and prevent a user from placing more.

More Info On The 1.07 Update, Bringing The Machines To Stage Creator

Hey everyone!

We are super excited about the launch of HUMANITY Patch 1.07 today. It adds the Machines to STAGE CREATOR, allowing you to create and play stages with the mechanics seen in the STORY MODE's Sequence 7.

We initially held these items back as we didn't want to spoil some of the late-game story or mechanics and also give budding stage creators a chance to get familiar with the tools. But now it's time to let you run wild with these!

The question now becomes, what will you make? And, with this new set of tools, what kinds of stages will we all be playing in USER STAGES both this week and in the future? Our team is super excited to see what people do with this—it opens up so many new options. Join our Discord and share your stage with us in the share-a-stage channel.

[h3]STORY MODE REMIX PLAYLIST[/h3]

If you're not a member of our Discord server already, you should definitely join up. In our creator-workshop channel, we've challenged our community to make stages that remix STORY MODE stages into something new. You can find a playlist of these stages live in the game right now, or search for them via the STORY MODE REMIX tag. The community has rethought some of our favorite stages from the campaign, and they are amazing.

Remixing an existing stage is a great way to start with the STAGE CREATOR. If you haven't made a stage yet, you might want to check out this playlist and consider what stage you'd like to rethink!

[h3]COMPACT CHALLENGES RETURN[/h3]

Our community has made so many awesome stages—from huge, sprawling levels that take up the entirety of the STAGE CREATOR canvas to the smallest 5x5 puzzles. The COMPACT CHALLENGES playlist offers smaller-scale puzzles with big challenges that might resemble what you've seen in the STORY MODE. Why not here if you're unsure where to start in USER STAGES? You'll find this playlist in the Library tab of USER STAGES.

HUMANITY PATCH 1.07 (2023-07-12)




NEW STAGE CREATOR FEATURES
  • [ALL] Machines have arrived in the STAGE CREATOR! Now you can create stages that include mechanics from the final Sequence of HUMANITY’s STORY MODE. Navigate to the MACHINES tab of the palette to find Turrets, Drones, Missile Units, and Lasers.
  • [ALL] Machines, Others, and even people (including gates) can be designated as Blue Targets that need to be destroyed to trigger an event(s) in your stage, similar to activating a switch. Select an Others/Human group or Machine and choose CONNECT TARGET in the context menu, then select the item(s) it will activate or connect them to a Tandem-Link Switch. When you play the stage, a blue light will appear above these units.
  • [ALL] The COSMOS environment (seen at the end of HUMANITY’s STORY MODE) is now available as a theme option for your creations.


BUG FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS
  • [PS5] When using the PS5’s built-in sharing features, posts to social media will now have a #HUMANITYgame hashtag.
  • [STEAM] Added additional support for VR MODE on PCs with AMD graphics cards. This should address ghosting issues seen by users with AMD cards, but please submit a support ticket if those issues persist.
  • [ALL] Modified FANS to make it easier to tell if they are on or off.
  • [ALL] Fixed a bug where pushing pushable blocks from the top of a diagonal slope would not cause them to slide down.
  • [ALL] In STORY MODE, fixed a bug preventing players from using the mouse to select stages or swap between Sequences.
  • [ALL] In STORY MODE, fixed a bug where the player’s music selection would be forgotten when retrying a stage.
  • [ALL] In STORY MODE, we believe we have fixed a bug where the "Wonderdog" trophy/achievement could not be obtained after completing all seven challenges. Please submit a support ticket if you still experience this.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed a bug where the Goldy acquisition sound effect would incorrectly play during a loading screen after completing a stage.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, fixed a problem when line breaks were pasted into the search field.
  • [ALL] In USER STAGES, sorting preferences will now be retained when returning to search results after playing a stage.
  • [ALL] In STAGE CREATOR, the cursor will turn into an X when trying to place a block where it cannot be placed.
  • [ALL] In STAGE CREATOR, fixed a phenomenon where a stage’s Data Size wouldn’t update when a switch was deleted.
  • [ALL] In STAGE CREATOR, fixed a bug that prevented a Glass Wall item from being moved when a climbing wall was attached to it.
