Get ready! Humanity launches May 16

We have a launch date! Humanity comes to Steam on May 16. Playable on desktop, laptop, Steam Deck, in VR—wherever you're playing your Steam library, we're there.

We wanted to announce Humanity’s launch date with a trailer that truly reflects the game: fun, a bit weird (in a good way!) and starring an adorable lil’ Shiba Inu. Oh, and importantly: clearly, undeniably Japanese.

What better way to do that than to recreate the wild—and brilliant—Japanese PlayStation ad campaigns of the PS1 and PS2 era? We’ve been incredibly flattered to hear Humanity compared to classics of this era like Intelligent Cube, Echochrome, and Devil Dice (among others), even Katamari Damacy and Parappa the Rapper – all fresh and unique designer-led games out of Japan that broke new ground and did it with style. And whether you share that nostalgia or not, or were even gaming back then, we hope you’ll enjoy that same spirit in Humanity: stylish and different, but with a deeply satisfying game at the core.

Please remember to wishlist the game if you haven't yet. And tell everyone you know!

Thank you for playing the HUMANITY Demo

The HUMANITY Demo period has ended. We wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone who downloaded and played during its limited availability. We loved seeing everyone's reactions to the gameplay and are truly amazed by all the levels we saw submitted to User Stages. Hopefully you had a chance to play around with the Stage Creator tools, and maybe share a stage of your own or at least play some User Stages. If you did, thank you!

The full game releases in May 2023 so if you missed the demo or are just excited to play more HUMANITY, you won't have to wait long. Be sure to wishlist the game for news on a release date and more as we head toward launch.

We hosted a stream last week during the demo period where Ducky played levels the community had submitted to User Stages. If you missed out you can catch the replay either on our Store Page or embedded below.

Last weekend to play the HUMANITY Demo

We are in the final weekend of the HUMANITY Demo's availability. Just a quick note to say that If you haven't already played it, you only have until March 6 (12:01 am PT)! Download and play this small taste of what to look forward to in the full version. And of course, don't forget to wishlist HUMANITY so you'll know when the full game is available this May.

Thank you to everyone who has already tried out the demo. We have been so amazed by the reaction to the game and the creativity of everyone who has made and uploaded a stage using the Stage Creator. If you've already played through the demo, you should take some time out this weekend to hop into User Stages and play some of the creations that have been shared. Some truly astounding stuff in there!

Have a great weekend!

Get the most out of the HUMANITY Demo with these tips

HUMANITY is an action-puzzle game that combines traffic flow puzzles with 3D platforming. The demo we just released (you have downloaded it, right?) features 10 stages—a sample of what can be found in the full game. Here are some tips to get you through!

Tell the humans to walk faster
Hold down Shift on the keyboard or R2/right trigger on a controller and make the horde of humans go faster. A must for testing out routes in either the Demo's levels or user-made stages.

Simplify simplify simplify
A lifehack if ever there was one but it also applies in-game to HUMANITY! If you suddenly have a lot of commands littered all over the ground, you're probably making the situation just a little bit more complicated than it needs to be. Try deleting the directions that you know definitely are not the simplest/shortest route and go from there.

Retry to clear your head
Sometimes, we all need a reset button. There is no penalty in retrying stages, and sometimes getting a clear view of the goal can help you create a practical action plan. There we go giving life advice again, but it's worth remembering in the game!

Soul-surfing can be a lifesaver
Some of the jumps in HUMANITY are maybe just a little too far. Remember that the Shiba can soul-surf within the people. Just hit jump, then jump again to join with the stream of people, then navigate amongst them freely. Use that to get to ledges when a standard jump can't quite get you there. Press jump once to exit the people.

A better way to judge jumps
As you frolic and hop around each stage as the Shiba, note the little dot of light shown on the ground below you. This will help you judge long jumps or jumps from high surfaces. If you jump and don't see the marker on a surface, you're not going to make it! Ahhhhhhh!

You can't command the Others
In the demo, you'll meet the Others, a rival group to the humans you're currently leading. Try as you might, you won't be able to influence the Others' path. When your humans wade into a path of Others they can lose their way a bit, and if you're escorting Goldy, they'll run off! Try to clear a path instead.
