Locations: Before and After

Revolutionists! 🔥

It's been a little over a year since Liberte entered Early Access! Time flies by, doesn't it? 😉

We thought it'd be an excellent moment to reflect on how the game has changed. From the very first concepts through raw screenshots to what we've got now. Let's embark on a journey through time together, shall we?

We had shared some of the concept art for characters before, so this time we'll focus on a couple of examples of locations' visuals.
Cafe de Flore
This must be the first calm location the player has a chance to see. You can walk in and enjoy the soothing atmosphere without worrying about being attacked. The huge stained glass window lets in a bit of light through the outside world, which lits up the scene with a grand piano and mixes nicely with moody lights coming from the bar.

But wait! The true crème de la crème awaits you upstairs. It's a small area you might have missed if you ran straight to your next goal. Be sure to check it out next time you visit Cafe de Flore 😉
Map Room
It's a room you'll visit on regular bases. Well, unless you've got some inhuman abilities and simply refuse to let your character die 😂 It's a room with some magical aura about it, despite being simple in its core. As you can see, the ornament has changed its position and gained interaction and, in turn, better visibility.

Many more things have changed since we started developing Liberte. Not only visually – lore and gameplay changed immensely with each update. There's one thing that didn't change, however – our enthusiasm toward developing the best experience possible 😊

What’s next? 😉

Top 5 Tips and Tricks on how to play Liberte Part 2

Revolutionists!

We didn't expect such a wonderful reception of the previous list! After brainstorming for some time we came up with yet another 5 things you should definitely do when playing Liberte. Enjoy! 😊
Do Daily Favors
Every day you have an additional way of earning Influence Points through Daily Favors. These points allow you to unlock new cards and ingredients needed for crafting, as well as playable characters with unique playstyles! Daily Favors reset each day and boost Influence Points - as little as 30 minutes of gameplay a day can raise your influence within each faction by a level.
Unlock Keepsakes
You can unlock special cards called "Keepsakes" in the Rewards section of the game. You’ll earn them in time as a token of appreciation for your accomplishments. Keepsakes will alter your character's abilities, e.g., you can get a 2x damage bonus after dodging or add unused mana to the attack damage. These are game-changers in later stages when the difficulty levels are getting unbearable 😉
Get Inside These Weird Trees
You'll encounter strange trees on your journey through Paris. You can choose to defeat people dancing around it or get inside and face the monstrosity within. If you choose the latter, you’ll get a chance to drop the most powerful cards in the game and you’ll earn a piece of an artifact. If you collect four pieces, you'll be able to craft an item that'll help you build a dream deck and unlock cards that didn't yet drop during your run.
Experiment
As you progress through the game, you'll unlock new skills and various characters with unique abilities. Don't stick to one playstyle! Step out of your comfort zone and try out different playstyles. When (if!) you get to the point when Curses don't scare you anymore, make an additional challenge for yourself and try to beat the game with a different build 😜
Pay Attention to the Environment
Liberte is combat-heavy, but there is more to the game than just fighting. Have a stroll around locations, and be on the lookout for shimmering spots hidden here and there. Vases, barrels, wooden carts, and even some stalls are easy to destroy and will give you silver pieces or other awards.

Talking to people on the street will also give you additional Influence Points and boost your statistics. Please remember we're talking about Liberte; Don't do it IRL 😉

Top 5 Tips and Tricks on how to play Liberte
Hello everyone!
As more and more of you are playing the game, we decided to list some tips that might be handy. Here are the top 5 things you should definitely do when playing Liberte:
Dodge
It might be obvious, but you're probably not using that enough.

Dodge works instantaneously after clicking the button. It cancels upcoming attacks, so smash that button whenever you see fire, enemy, etc., coming your way, and they won't be able to hurt you.

It also cancels animations. You can fight faster if you dodge at the right moment.
Use Skills
If you have skills, use them!

Basic attacks will recharge your skills, and you'll be able to use them again in no time, so don't worry about running out of them. They look more spectacular too! Why stab enemies when you can chop off their limbs?
Heal Between Fights
There are lots of things going on once the fight has begun, and you'll be pressing many buttons (if you don't feel this way, then you're probably not dodging enough 😜). You probably won't have time to heal. Don't panic!

Take your time in between the waves of enemies and find a doctor or use bandages then 😉
Build Your Deck
Skills will change the mechanics of the game. They will allow you to use different attacks, melee or ranged, or boost your armor and durability. Change them whenever you've got the chance to find out what works best for you! Talents, on the other hand, work passively and don't take up a slot, so it's great to always invest in those.
Plan Ahead
Curses will turn your run into a nightmare. Take some time in advance to check what the curse does and think of an approach to neutralize the effect. Curses make the game challenging and force you to adjust your gameplay, especially when they stack, so try to plan ahead. And if it doesn't work out... try a different strategy later! 😉

The Origins of the Tribe
Ethnicities & Origins of the Tribe
In Liberte, we can advocate one of four factions. One of them is Tribe, which, according to many, is the most interesting option for anyone interested in the occult and magic. So let's take a look at the inspiration behind this faction and see what motivates it.

The Tribe constitutes a group of several ethnicities and origins. The mix includes people from the Nordics, Slavic regions, the Caribbean, and many African tribes. Also, due to the changing socio-cultural landscape in the city, poorer Parisians tend to join. This also results in conflict with the Church.

Their religion combines the beliefs of all those origins; therefore, the mythology finds three deities:

Torado is the God of life and death
, and his appearance brings to mind the Caribbean and African descent; Eder rules the sphere of nature (roots in pagan beliefs), meanwhile Grieslund is the God of evil (France).

All the deities are critical to the rituals of the fraction. The Rite of Passage is understood as a kind of funeral. The priest escorts the dead soul through the land of Garcon, all the way to the Gardens of Eder. There, the soul is purified and ascends to Torado's kingdom. Torado sends the cleansed souls back to Earth so that they can watch over their relatives.

The most potent priests can conduct The Ascencion - a massive rite of passage needed during wars or when many dead are not escorted.

Each God has a distinct symbol:

Torado → bones and ornamented skulls (symbols of ancestors watching over their living relatives)

Eder → petals, flowers, and plants (connection with nature)

Garcon → snakes (deceitful animal)
The strive for perfection
The cultists have a solid moral backbone embedded in their religion. They strive for perfection, which means achieving a balance between nature, life, death, and all the other surroundings; the concept of natural evil means that wrongdoing constitutes a part of the life cycle and each individual should diminish the impact of evil but cannot live without its presence; vengeance is an act of pure evil and therefore is not accepted among the believers, as it is as far from the balance as one could be.

Shrines are made in houses. There are no enormous temples, often abundant in symbolism referring to the Gods, and no division between shrines dedicated to a particular deity.

The cult is based on several existing religions, cults, and systems of belief, including Yoruba (West Africa), Santeria (Cuba, South America), Pagan beliefs of Slavic and Nordic cultures, Umbanda (Africa), Haitian Voodoo (Haiti and other Caribbean countries).
