Lost Ark Academy - Artist Advanced Class

Heroes of Arkesia,

On March 15 the Artist Class will arrive in Arkesia accompanied by special progression events in the March “Art of War” Update. The Artist is capable of tactical versatility with illusion powers from her brush, and specializes in supporting her team. With her magical brush and flowing ink, the Artist can either choose to attack foes directly or summon holy beasts by painting them. While the Artist's attack power is on the low side, she is capable of providing strong support to allies, and rescuing them from peril with her illusion powers— making her a welcome member of any party. The Artist is the first Advanced Class an entirely new class category; Specialists, who will have more than one appearance in 2023.

Before we dive into the class specifics and details on the progression events, we have a quick note if you missed our original announcement about bringing the Artist to the West.

We know there’s been a lot of speculation in the Lost Ark community on how the Artist Class would arrive in the Western version of Lost Ark, and we want to be transparent with players excited for its release. Previously, we’ve stated that there may be some content in the original version of the game that gets adapted for Western audiences. While our goal is to preserve the authenticity of the original game, we also work with Smilegate RPG to make localization updates to ensure the game feels approachable and representative of our Western players. Nothing gameplay-related will change for the Artist Class, but some skins will be modified to better fit Western norms. Specifically, skins with short skirts will have shorts added underneath the skirt, and other skins will have adjusted pant lengths or tights added. We will be working to preserve the original spirit of the skins when applying these changes to ensure players will have a variety of compelling customization options for this uniquely versatile class.
CLASS IDENTITY
The Artist can fill the Harmony Meter Identity Gauge by landing skills on foes, filling up three Harmony Orbs. Harmony Orbs can be used to cast Moonfall and Sunrise. These two Identity Skills do not have a cooldown.
  • Moonfall - (Uses 2 Orbs) Strike the ground with a powerful stroke. Temporarily increase Outgoing Damage of all party members within 24 meters.
  • Sunrise - (Uses 1 Orb) Focus energy and summon a Sun Marble at the target location within 10 meters, which recovers HP. Up to 3 Sun Marbles can be summoned at once, and each Sun Marble lasts for 60s.
CLASS ENGRAVINGS
As an Advanced Class, the Artist features two unique Class Engravings. Full Bloom improves her support capabilities, while Recurrence bolsters her offense.
FULL BLOOM
When casting Sunrise, the energy spreads to recover the HP of Party Members within 24 meters of the Artist and Sun Marble:
  • Level 1 - Recovers up to 7% of the Artist's Max HP.
  • Level 2 - Recovers up to 11% of the Artist's Max HP.
  • Level 3 - Recovers up to 15% of the Artist's Max HP.
RECURRENCE
Upon using Moonfall or Sunrise, gain an effect that temporarily increases the Artist's Critical Hit Rate and Critical Damage:
  • Level 1 - Increases Critical Hit Rate by 6% and Critical Damage by 20% for 60 seconds.
  • Level 2 - Increases Critical Hit Rate by 9% and Critical Damage by 30% for 60 seconds.
  • Level 3 - Increases Critical Hit Rate by 12% and Critical Damage by 40% for 60 seconds.
SKILLS
• Stroke: Ink Shower - Concentrate dimensional power into the brush and inflict Damage as you spread your energy.
  • Stroke: Sprinkle - Concentrate dimensional energy into the brush and then inflict Damage to foes in a cone-shaped area up to 9 meters away.
  • Stroke: Hopper - Ride the brush and bounce up, draw an arc, and then travel 6 meters. Inflicts Damage to foes around the landing spot before knocking them down. Can be used up to 3 times in a row.
  • Stroke: One Stroke - Channel dimensional power into the brush and unleash it 12 meters forward to inflict Damage and knock down foes.
  • Stroke: Upward Stroke - Lunge 2 meters in the target direction and draw a large circle to inflict Damage and send foes airborne. This skill can be used twice in a row.
  • Paint: Inkrise - Summon an ink swamp within 12 meters of the target location that lasts for 4s. Targets in the swamp receive Damage every 0.5s and suffer Move Speed reduction for 2s.
  • Paint: Butterfly Dream - Draw orchids and butterflies that inflict Damage to foes up to 8 meters ahead of you. After the butterflies fly forward to inflict Damage, draw orchids and butterflies a second time to deal the same amount of Damage again.
  • Paint: Drawing Orchids - Unfold a 14-meter-long Artist's Scroll in front of you and push foes back with Damage, then inflict Damage every 0.5s a total of 6 times.
  • Paint: Pouncing Tiger - Summon a black tiger with the dimensional energy imbued in the ink to inflict Damage and knock foes down.
  • Paint: Moonsketch - Make a drawing on the ground at the target location within 12 meters for 2s, that unleashes an explosion to inflict Damage and lift foes into the air.
  • Paint: Starry Night - Concentrate dimensional power into the brush to change the space and inflict Damage every second for 0.6s on foes within a 6-meter radius up to 5 times.
  • Paint: Door of Illusion - Create a dimensional opening at the target location within 12 meters to teleport one party member to your location. The dimensional opening lasts for 10s, allowing party members to interact with it and travel as far as 32 meters. The transported party member generates a shield that absorbs Damage for 6s.
  • Paint: Ink Well - Leap and smash the ground with the brush for Damage, then create a puddle of ink that lasts for 3.5s. The ink puddle inflicts Damage over 12 hits, then launches foes in the air upon expiration, dealing additional Damage.
  • Paint: Sun Well - Create an Artist's Scroll at the target location within 10 meters. The Artist's Scroll lasts 4s, inflicting Damage every 0.5s. Instantly recovers partial MP for all party members within 24m.
  • Paint: Crane Wing - Draw and summon a crane that attacks foes.
  • Paint: Sunsketch - Gather dimensional energy into the brush and inflict Damage to nearby foes. Incoming Damage is reduced for all party members within 24 meters.
AWAKENING SKILLS
Masterwork: Spectacle - Summon an 8-meter-wide Artist's Scroll and start drawing to deal Damage 5 times. Any foes caught in the attack are then lifted into the air for additional Damage and inflicted with critical resistance reduction and movement speed reduction.
Masterwork: Efflorescence - Levitate in the swirl of flower petals and inflict Damage to foes within 24 meters. Grant a shield (absorbs Damage) to every ally within range. The Artist also gains 2 Harmony Orbs upon use.
PROGRESSION EVENTS
The following Punika Powerpass, Hyper Express Plus, and Story Express progression events will all run from March 15 to June 14. Unlike prior progression events, this update’s character designation and mission periods are the same.
PUNIKA POWERPASS
Players will receive a Punika Powerpass after completing Punika's quest “Berver's Friend” during, or before, the event period. The Punika Powerpass will function like the North Vern Powerpasses available to players in the launch version of Lost Ark— once you’ve completed the storyline through that continent, you can use it to bring an alternate character to that point in the game. With this version of the Punika Powerpass, you'll receive Item Level 1340 gear.
HYPER EXPRESS PLUS
Pairing well with the Punika Powerpass, players will be able to designate one character between item Level 1340 and 1445 on their roster to participate in the Hyper Express Plus Event, where they’ll earn honing materials to quickly level up to Item Level 1445 and beyond. The designated character will earn rewards every 15 Item Levels up to 1445, including a wealth of Silver, honing materials, Gems, Engravings, and even a Legendary Card Selection Pack!
ENGRAVING SUPPORT SYSTEM
As a new feature available with the Hyper Express Plus, the Engraving Support system lets players choose 4 engravings to be in effect at level 3 during the event. Here’s how to get started:
  • After selecting a Hyper Express Plus character, the Engraving Support button will light up.
  • Click the Engraving Support button to open the Engraving Support page and select your 4 desired Engravings.
  • Press the Activate Engraving Support button to start using their effects.

The effects of Engraving Support will also be shown in your Character Profile.
STORY EXPRESS
Clear story missions to level up a character from Item level 1 to Item level 1340 and earn rewards like Item Level 1340 Argos Legendary Gear that will help you progress even further. With progression to Item Level 1340, the Story Express event also sets you up to take advantage of Hyper Express Plus and more easily get any new character up to Item Level 1445.

Any character that has not yet completed the ‘On the Border’ quest from Rethamis can become a designated Story Express character. Select Story Express Character through the ‘Event Quest’ window and clear story missions for valuable progression materials. Story completion rewards include Crystalline Aura (14 days), Epic Class Engraving Recipe Selection Pouch, Epic Combat Engraving Recipe Selection Pouch, and additional honing materials. Skipped quests via a Powerpass or Knowledge Transfer will not offer Story Express completion rewards.

You can only have one designated Story Express character per account. If you delete your Story Express character, you will not be able to designate another one.
NEW & RETURNING LOG-IN BONUSES
This upgraded log-in reward track will support new and returning players with 15 days of rewards to help kickstart their journey through Arkesia. It includes new and improved bonuses including Engraving Recipe Selection Chests (Uncommon to Legendary), a variety of Honing Material Selection Chests, Pheons, and a Legendary - Epic Card Pack.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Artist and the progression events aren’t all we have planned for the March Update— the 48v48 PvP Tulubik Battlefield releases along with quality of life updates, balance changes, new events, cosmetics, and the third Ark Pass! Stay tuned to PlayLostArk.com and our social media channels for the full list of updates in next week's Release Notes. Until then, we'll see you in Arkesia.

Order Vs. Rebellion

Heroes of Arkesia,

Fight for more than just glory when Tulubik Battlefield launches this March. Select your Faction, earn rewards, and determine the fate of Rowen in 96-player (48 v 48) Realm versus Realm matches. It’s time to prepare for war. Will you maintain order or unleash rebellion?
Pick a Faction
Sylmael Crystals once made Rowen a prosperous continent. Now, that same precious resource only brings pandemonium. The war-torn land is divided into two conflicting Factions — Preigelli and Liebertane. The machine-loving mercenaries of Preigelli fight for a society with strict rules, while the pirates and mages of Liebertane pursue a lawless land. Rowen may have temporarily been forgotten from Arkesia’s history, but one of these Factions will always be remembered as the victor at Tulubik Battlefield.
Earn Faction XP & Rewards
Reach item Level 1445 for the chance to start Rowen’s world quest and pick your side. Once you’ve completed the “Cataclysmic Eliyabeck” world quest, you will join the fight for your Faction. Welcome to the seemingly endless stage of strife.

Earn Faction XP through activities like co-op quests, plus taking out opposing Faction’s members, to progress through 15 Faction Ranks for Sylmael Crystals which can be exchanged for valuable rewards like honing materials, card packs, mounts, skins, and more. From Rank 10 on, your XP earned throughout a week (starting at 6 AM local time on maintenance day) will be recorded. Changing Factions after Rank 11 will result in an XP penalty and possibly a lower Rank.

Faction Rank is also reflected in player skins throughout Rowen. Support a side, strive for higher Ranks, and wear your decorated Faction skins with pride.
Determine the Fate of Rowen in Tulubik Battlefield
Capture bases and defeat foes to prove your Faction’s supremacy in 96-player (48 v 48) Realm versus Realm matches. Each base nets your Faction Magick over time. The more bases you conquer, the faster your side’s Magick will increase. Harness more Magick than the opposing Faction to take total control of the battlefield and win.

You can also increase your own contribution level to tip the scales through individual actions like taking down opponents, capturing bases, and even materializing a powerful spirit knight to support your side on the field. How will you make a difference?

After the final sliver of Magick is obtained and the battle has been decided, you’ll earn rewards such as Faction XP and Sylmael Crystals based on your performance.
Schedule
Both Factions will only engage in war during certain times of the week, so keep an eye out for in-game announcements.
Regular Matches
• Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 8:00 PM local time
  • Saturday and Sunday: 3:00 PM local time

When 96-player Regular Matches are unavailable, you can instead join 30 to 96-player Friend Matches. Friend Matches feature the same rules, except teams are randomly assigned and Sylmael Crystals are not be rewarded.
Co-op quests
• Tuesday - Sunday: 8:30 PM local time
  • Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 10:30 PM local time
  • Additional time slot on Saturday and Sunday: 3:30 PM local time
Requirements
You need to be Faction Rank 3 and Item Level 1490 to enter Tulubik Battlefield. To play the new mode, click on the “Rowen Battlefield” icon on the minimap (under Welcome Challenge) or go to the battlefield entrance at either Regarbank Great Plains or Fighter’s Haven. You can also enter from other places like major cities, always available islands, and your Stronghold.
Rewards
• Random Rowen Collectible Chest
  • Kottbulle Dish
  • Sylmael Honing Packs
  • Sylmael Honing Support Material Pack

Anniversary Celebration

Heroes of Arkesia,

What a year it’s been! From the moment the gates opened on February 8, 2022 until now, our teams at Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG have been humbled and honored by the millions of players from around the globe who have joined us on this epic adventure. While we’re ecstatic that Lost Ark has had such an exciting year, it wouldn’t be the same without the passion and support from the community. We want to celebrate the dedication and participation of the millions of community members, and have planned what we hope to be a memorable first birthday party for all those who joined us along the journey.

A Year in Review

From the first Mokoko Seed found to the first Legion Raid clear to DatModz’s Brelshaza cosplay and everything in between, there have been an immeasurable number of adventures in Lost Ark and throughout the Lost Ark community. While we can’t quantify every journey that’s occurred this year, here’s a few fun ones from Lost Ark’s first year in the West!

Along with the events, there are two monthly log-in reward tracks full of birthday gifts, like the Mirror Ball Bubble Mount!

On top of all that, a special Fever-Time Event will run from February 8 - 21, with 6 rewards available to claim. Stop by to celebrate and receive special food items, Pheons, card packs, and more. You can find more details for the anniversary events (and all the other content releasing) in the First Anniversary Celebration Release Notes.

First Anniversary Celebration Release Notes

Heroes of Arkesia,

What a year it’s been! February 8 will mark one year since Lost Ark first launched in the West. We have celebrations and rewards planned throughout the month to thank all of the players who joined us and embarked on adventures in Arkesia. Tomorrow, we’ll have a celebratory news post, but we know players are eager to see what’s in the update before downtime begins.

The February “First Anniversary Celebration” Update arrives in Arkesia tomorrow, bringing the new Rowen Continent and a host of anniversary celebrations with it. Downtime for the update will begin on February 8 at 12AM PDT (8AM UTC) and is expected to last 4 hours. Find the full list of new features, events, cosmetics, and other updates below!

New Continent - Rowen

Embark on new adventures, encounter a new cast of characters, and choose your faction in a new continent; Rowen.

Rowen is a continent located west of Shushire, that’s filled with Sylmael; crimson jewels that are a precious resource in Arkesia. After a prosperous ancient civilization disappeared, Rowen was forgotten from Arkesia's history. However, when rumors about the abundant crimson jewels covering the land spread, factions coveting the jewels have begun mustering their forces in Rowen.

Strange tensions linger between the factions, and the barbaric nomads assault those who have dared to set foot on their lands. Who will succeed and who will perish in this war-torn land? The neutral ground Eliyabeck has lost balance, and now the land is divided into two competing factions: Preigelli and Liebertane.

Preigelli was formed under the belief that the chaos in Rowen was due to its indulgences, and that strict rules are needed in Rowen. They were formed by a group of mercenaries who excel at utilizing machines. "Order defeats Chaos every time."

Liebertane was formed under the belief that the chaos in Rowen was due to overly strict rules and restrictions. This group of pirates and mages values freedom and passion. "We have a simple rule. Take as much as you can."

Where does the fate of Rowen lie? Item Level 1445 is required to begin Rowen's world quest. Once a faction is chosen after completing the “Cataclysmic Eliyabeck” world quest, you will enter a PvP mode against the opposing faction. Ranks for the Factions are divided into 15 tiers and can be earned by participating in activities to get Faction XP, such as killing the opposing faction's members and participating in daily, weekly, and co-op quests. In this update the war between Preigelli and Liebertane will begin— but the competition heats up further in March, when the Tulubik Battlefield releases.

The first 9 faction ranks will be available to progress through in this update. The remaining ranks (with 15 being the max), will unlock alongside the Tulubik Battlefield in March.

First Anniversary Celebration
Anniversary Event
To celebrate Lost Ark’s birthday and thank everyone who’s joined us over the last year on their adventure throughout Arkesia, the February update will include a special event full of epic rewards. We’ve scattered birthday cards around Arkesia. You’ll need to collect them then head to Exchange Merchant Bursery to collect your anniversary gifts. There are three different cards, which can each be redeemed for a variety of weekly and roster level rewards that include skins, honing materials, card packs, and much more!
  • ‘Happy’ Card - Guardian Raids and Chaos Dungeons
  • ‘Birthday’ Card - Abyssal Dungeons, Abyss Raids, and Legion Raids
  • ‘Lost Ark’ Card - New Hot Spring Event

The cards can also be traded for the other types at the vendor.
Hot Spring Event
The Hot Spring Event includes a daily game, where ‘Lost Ark’ cards can be earned for the Anniversary Event. Interacting with the Hot Spring Manager NPC in any major city will guide you to the new event through the “[Event] The Hot Springs Thank You Event Begins” quest. Once completed, the Steaming Hot Spring will be open for a competition on even hours (12PM, 2PM, etc.).

In the competition, two teams will face-off, armed with ducky hammers and vying to collect the rubber duckies. Break the other team's duck toy shield with your hammer to get the “duck toy” buff. Keep the buff and make it to your team's finish line to score points. Protect your teammates who have the duck toy buff, or stop the opposing team's buff to prevent them from getting points. Even if you're losing by a lot, don't give up! You can destroy the opposing team's duck basket (where they keep their duck toys) for a lot of points, but remember, you also need to stop the opposing team from destroying your team's duck basket.

You can compete once per Roster per day. We wish you and your rubber duckies good luck!
Log-in Rewards
Another way we’ll be celebrating Lost Ark’s birthday is with Double Log-in rewards. There will be two monthly log-in reward tracks, full of birthday gifts, like the Mirror Ball Bubble Mount!

On top of the double log-in reward tracks, a special Fever-Time Event will run from February 8 - 21, with 6 rewards available to claim. Stop by to celebrate and receive special food items, Pheons, card packs, and more!

All players who log-in before March 10, 2023 will also receive the “Yearling” anniversary title!
Special Stronghold Structure
Players who logged into Lost Ark every day this year will receive an additional prize— a ‘Trophy’ Stronghold Structure to commemorate the launch year and their adventures in Arkesia! Moving forward, any player who logs-in for 365 consecutive days will also earn this special trophy.

Over the past year, three days with longer than expected maintenances will be exempt from the count - 2/11/22, 9/7/22 and 9/28/22.

General Updates
  • Added the “Twinkle Twinkle Exchange Shop”, an Event Gold Shop where players can exchange Gold for valuable rewards, such as honing materials, legendary engravings, card packs, and more! Some rewards will include a ‘Toad Token’ which can be redeemed at the vendor for additional items.
  • Added two new tracks of daily log-in rewards.
  • One of the three Weekly Una’s Tasks centered around completing Chaos Dungeons has been removed as part of our ongoing bot prevention measures.
  • On February 8, an additional notice on bot prevention measures found in this update will be provided on our official forums.
  • Ended the Festivity Island event. The Witcher x Lost Ark event will continue until February 22, 2023.
  • Decreased the difficulty of the Caliligos Guardian Raid:
    • Disabled the continuous use of dangerous/powerful skills, and slightly increased their cooldown.
    • Disabled the continuous use of movement skills.
    • Prevented continuous shooting skills from occurring while Caliligos was advancing and during taunting.
    • Updated counter cooldown timings. Previously, counter attacks caused by the mechanic did not affect the cooldown of other counterattacks.
    • In the Phase 3 patterns, the counter attack time has been increased to match the Phase 2 counter attack time.
    • Reduced the attack range of the skill where Caliligos would hit by leaping toward the target.
    • If the Weak Point mechanic is successfully destroyed, "Lightning Dragon Jade" and "Great Lightning Dragon Jade" are no longer created when "White Lightning Dragon Jade" appears.
    • Lightning Dragon's Powers 6 Stack Penalty has been removed. 6 stacks or higher now have the same effect as 5 stacks.
    • When lightning detonates, rather than several explosions overlapping and each dealing damage, only one damage instance will now occur.
    • Increased the total skill time of the Underlying Strike Attack to avoid too fast a turnaround.
    • Decreased the attack speed of the default Strike Attack skill.
    • Increased the cooldown of the Strike Attack skill after turning.

Team Update - Upcoming Releases

Heroes of Arkesia,

The February Anniversary Celebration Update arrives next week, on February 8! The February update includes the new continent, Rowen, along with special events to celebrate the anniversary of Lost Ark launching the west. Before we dive into the new content, we wanted to share a roadmap update on the Artist Advanced Class.

Roadmap Update - Artist Class

While we previously announced that the first Specialist Advanced Class, the Artist, would first arrive on Arkesia’s Western shores in April 2023, we’re excited to share that development work preparing the class will finish ahead of schedule, resulting in a March release! The Artist will be accompanied by a Powerpass and progression event similar to previous Express Events to help new Artist mains (or those eyeing another class) quickly prepare for both the Brelshaza Hard Legion Raid & the Hanumatan Guardian Raid arriving in April.

Leading up to the March Update, we’ll share more specifics on the Artist, progression events, and the other content arriving. In the meantime, if you’re interested in learning more about the Artist Class, you can find a description of the class along with our plan for the Artist’s arrival in the West in the 2023 Roadmap - Part 1 article.

The February Anniversary Celebration Update also includes new events with valuable rewards to celebrate Lost Ark’s first birthday in the west, along with other activities like new Twitch Drops. Stay tuned to our website and social channels for the full release notes next week. In the meantime, we’ll see you in Arkesia!
