Spells in Spades Release Notes

Heroes of Arkesia,

The July “Spells in Spades” Update arrives in Arkesia tomorrow! Downtime for the update will begin on July 20 at 12AM PT (7AM UTC) and is expected to last 4 hours. Spells in Spades includes the Arcanist Advanced Class, the Inferno Difficulty of the Valtan Legion Raid, Challenge Abyssal Dungeons, a new summer event, summer cosmetics, and more! Find the full list of content, updates, and bug fixes below.
Spotlight

New Mage Advanced Class - Arcanist
The Arcanist imbues special cards with her Magick and uses them for a wide variety of effects. From slicing up enemies with a deluge of thrown cards to summoning powerful Magick attacks from the cards themselves, the Arcanist has a trick up her sleeve for every situation. The Arcanist will join the Bard and Sorceress as the third available Mage Advanced Class.

You can find more information in our recent Arcanist Lost Ark Academy to see if the Arcanist makes a good addition to your roster. Learn about the three types of skills, the Specialty Card Meter, and start planning the skills and engravings you’re interested in using to enhance your impact on the battlefield.
Valtan Legion Raid - Inferno Difficulty
The most difficult version of Legion Raids, the Inferno difficulty is all about proving you’re the among the best of the best in Arkesia, and earning the prestige accompanying that feat. Rather than chasing the normal rewards of gear, honing materials, and everything else you’d receive in a Legion Raid, Inferno rewards instead showcase your victory with titles, achievements, Stronghold structures, and more! A new in-game vendor will be added for players to access a variety of prestigious rewards, earned after various numbers of clears.

There are a few key differences between Normal/Hard and Inferno difficulties:
 • ‘Scale of Balance’ is applied, and the raid requires use of the Book of Coordination, so everyone’s gear is normalized against the level of your Legion Commander opponent.
 • The gate progression system will not be active - you can’t make it half-way and come back later in the week.
 • Inferno mode will not count against your weekly attempt limit for Legion Raids, so you can play Valtan on Normal/Hard and Inferno in the same week, and try Inferno as many times as you’d like.

Valtan Inferno difficulty will require item level 1445 for players to participate.
Maharaka Festival & Waterpop Arena
Enjoy pool-party pandemonium in a new time-limited Event! Hop in the Maharaka Paradise pool and compete on teams as you try to push the opposing team out of the arena by firing at them with a Water Pro water gun. As the game progresses, the arena gets smaller and smaller. Try and rack up points as quickly as possible to win. The event occurs every two hours, and players can earn Maharaka Leafs to exchange at an Event Vendor for a variety of valuable rewards. If you’re excited to further embrace the pool-party summer spirit, you’ll definitely want to checkout the Store Updates section below.
Challenge Abyssal Dungeons
Similar to how Challenge Guardian Raids applies Scale of Harmony to equalize your power against your foe in Guardian Raids, Challenge Abyssal Dungeons will use this treatment on Abyssal Dungeons in a new weekly activity. With greater challenge also comes greater rewards. Various honing material selection pouches— like Challenge Guardians, you can pick the offering closest to your item level— will rotate through the rewards, and cards aplenty are available as drops or in the end-of-dungeon loot auction. You can play through each Abyssal Dungeon once (per roster) each week.
General Updates

New Progression Events
This update introduces two new progression events, a Punika Powerpass and a Hyper Express Event that helps accelerate a character from Item Level 1302 to 1370.

Players will receive a Punika Powerpass after completing Punika's quest “Berver's Friend” during the event period. To access this quest, players must first complete all Adventure Quests (marked by purple exclamation marks) on Punika to collect stamps and become a citizen. Once the final quest in this chain, “Honorary Punikan" has been completed, you can talk to Nia in Nia village to start "Berver's Friend."

If you've already finished the quest before the update, you'll get the Powerpass when the event starts! The Punika Powerpass will function like the North Vern Powerpasses available to players in the launch version of Lost Ark— once you’ve completed the storyline through that continent, you can use it to bring an alternate character to that point in the game. With the Punika Powerpass, you'll receive Item Level 1302 gear. This is an event Powerpass that expires on September 28.

Players will be able to designate one character between item Level 1302 and 1370 on their roster to participate in the Hyper Express Event, where they’ll earn honing materials, and level up quickly to Item Level 1370. The designated character will earn rewards upon reaching Item Level 1302, 1310, 1320, and every ten levels until Item Level 1370— which grants a particularly valuable reward.

We’re excited to see the new alternate characters roaming Arkesia as players experience different playstyles or quickly level up a brand new Arcanist. For newer players, we hope the new Mokoko challenges found below help them quickly level up and reach the additional events.
Mokoko Challenge
This update will replace the existing Welcome Challenge series of missions with the new Mokoko Challenge. Functioning similarly to the Welcome Challenge, the Mokoko Challenge layers in additional progression mechanics to help accelerate new players and characters through Tier 1 and 2.
 • Mokoko Buff - Players that have a new account or haven’t played within the past 30 days and have no characters at item level 1370 or higher will receive the Mokoko Buff. Users with the Mokoko Buff will deal 20% more damage to monsters and take 40% less damage. After 90 days pass or a character in your Roster reaches item level 1370, you will no longer be considered a new adventurer and the buff will end.
 • Mokoko Challenge Missions - Players that have the Mokoko Buff active can complete special missions to earn honing and other progression materials, helping them reach item level 1370. When the Mokoko Buff ends, the Mokoko Challenge missions will no longer be available, and unclaimed rewards for completed missions will be sent to Universal Storage.

 • Only 5 Jukebox items can be used at the same time.

Spotlight
Vykas Legion Raid
Vykas follows Valtan as the second Legion Raid arriving into the Western version of Lost Ark. In this raid, you’ll face dangerously beguiling members of the Covetous Legion before battling Legion Commander Vykas in her ‘Garden of Crimson Delight’. No revives are available mid-battle, so be ready to fight for your life. Vykas is an eight-player Legion raid, has 3 gates, and is complete with a swathe of new unique characteristics, abilities, and mechanics. Players will need to be Item Level 1430 to attempt Normal difficulty, and 1460 for Hard.

The Relic Quality gear sets available at Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPCs require materials from both the Valtan and Vykas Legion Raids to craft a complete set. The Vykas Legion Raid introduces two new items that can be crafted into gear; Covetous Fangs for Legendary gear, and Covetous Wings for Relic gear. Players able to vanquish the three gates in the Vykas Legion Raid will be rewarded at each stage with increasingly desirable loot, matching the difficulty of those battles. Clearing each gate will grant Gold, Covetous Fangs and Wings, Relic Accessories and honing materials. The final gate can include additional special items, such as Engraving Recipes, Card Packs, and Honing Books. Additionally, after successfully clearing each gate, a bonus chest can be purchased with some of the Gold just earned, giving additional Gear-crafting and Honing materials, Accessories, and Ability Stones. The final gate of the Legion Raid will also kick off a loot auction when completed, allowing players to bid on a bonus Gear-crafting Material Chest, Engravings, Honing Books, and more.

Players can participate in Legion Raids after completing the guide quest ‘[Guide] Notice: Legion Raid’.
Kungelanium Guardian Raid
A fearsome force of evil in the Chain War, Kungelanium has awoken from his glacial slumber by the re-emergence of the Demon Legions and the Chaos spreading throughout Arkesia. Joining Deskaluda, the frost predator Kungelanium will enter the gauntlet of powerful Level 6 Guardians available to challenge in a Guardian Raid. Kungelanium will be available for players to challenge once they reach item level 1460 or higher. Like other Guardian Raids, you can attempt to vanquish alone, with a party, or matchmake with up to three other heroes.
Thronespire
Arriving in Arkesia with the Demonic invasion after the events in South Vern, The Demon's Tower is connected to Petrania— the world home to Kazeros's Demon Legions. A distorted dimension has been created by the resonance between Petrania and the Tower. The Holy Sacrian Empire has confirmed that Demons are invading through this dimension, and have named it Thronespire. The dimension is growing, and is threatening Arkesia. The priests and knights of the Holy Sacrian Empire are trying to hold their ground, but they're running short on supplies. Defeat the Demons pouring out of the Thronespire and defend Arkesia.

Thronespire is a new single-player dungeon experience in a twisted dimension with 50 levels. In Thronespire, you’ll battle until you run out of time, working to defeat as many levels and enemies as possible before you meet your match and succumb to the Demon Legions. Completing the first 25 levels grant first-time clear rewards (you’ll earn rewards for every level you conquer). The other 25 levels are focused on prestige and completion times— proving you have the solo skills it takes to conquer anything the Demon Legions throw your way. Players will need to be Item Level 1325 to participate.

General Updates
Heartbeat Island
Need some R&R after fighting the Demonic Legions in Arkesia’s hot summer months? Spend some time relaxing on the beach or dancing with your friends on the new event island: Heartbeat Island. You can find Heartbeat Island by speaking to Jollous, the festival expert located in major cities, or by sailing directly to it (located near Anikka). You do not need to complete a quest in a City to enter, and once you've visited, you can use the Ocean Liner to return!

Once you've arrived on Heartbeat Island you can collect Festival Coins through various activities, which can be exchanged for a variety of rewards. There are daily quests where you receive Festival Coins just by relaxing in a designated area, and hourly quests for dancing and defeating Rekiel, the Dancing Queen.

Vykas Academy & New Twitch Events

“I am Vykas, the Covetous Legion Commander. I envy you. I want you. Come to me. I will kill you in ecstasy."

Beware, Heroes of Arkesia. After the tournament in Anikka, Vykas returned to Petrania with her Covetous Legion, eagerly awaiting Kazeros’s next move. When recent events in South Vern led to Chaos Gates opening across the skies of Arkesia, Vykas led the Covetous Legion to consume the world with her twisted, red avarice.

The Covetous Legion Commander Vykas arrives in Arkesia next week, and must be vanquished before she wreaks untold havoc and destruction. Vykas isn’t the only threat releasing in next week’s June 30 update. She’s joined by the colossal frost predator Kungelanium, recently awoken from his glacial slumber by the re-emergence of the Demon Legions and the Chaos spreading throughout Arkesia. To top it off, Thronespire will also open and pose a different type of challenge— a new solo dungeon experience in a twisted dimension teeming with enemies.

VYKAS LEGION RAID

"I am mighty and beautiful. Everyone obeys me."
LEGION RAID OVERVIEW
Vykas follows Valtan as the second Legion Raid arriving into the Western version of Lost Ark. In this raid, you’ll face dangerous and powerful members of the Covetous Legion before battling Legion Commander Vykas in her ‘Garden of Crimson Delight’. No revives are available mid-battle, so players must be ready to fight for their lives. Vykas is an eight-player Legion raid, has 3 gates, and is complete with a swathe of new unique characteristics, abilities, and mechanics. Players will need to be Item Level 1430 to attempt Normal difficulty, and 1460 for Hard.

As Legion Raids are challenging and take time, there are gates (or checkpoints) that will save players' progression as they advance through the Raid. In other activities, gates will save your progression for that session in case you wipe and need to try again, but in Legion Raids the gate save point system will not only let you try again, it also lets you take a break from a Legion Raid without losing out on progress or rewards. You’ll receive a reward whenever you clear a gate in a Legion Raid. Your completed gate information will be saved when you claim your reward, and your group can vote to decide whether you continue to the next gate or not. If your group votes to continue on, you’ll move forward with your current group to challenge the boss, enemies, or Legion Commander guarding the next gate. If you’ve decided to wait on challenging the remaining gates, you can come back later with your group or find a new group until the weekly reset.
NEW SIDEREAL SKILLS
In each Legion Raid, you’ll find Sidereals willing to fight alongside your group, allowing you to enlist their help to unleash powerful skills and attacks at critical moments in the battle. You can fill up the Sidereal Skill meter throughout the raid, and when the meter is full, the raid group leader can use one of the available Sidereal Skills. The Vykas Legion Raid introduces two new Sidereal skills, and brings back Wei— one of the allies found in the Valtan Legion Raid.

"Her avarice will create an insatiable thirst and make you doubt all those around you. Be careful not to be swayed by her!"

Nineveh - Divine Punishment Parkunas
Nineveh fires arrows to precisely strike your foe, inflicting massive Damage and weakpoint damage. It can also partially remove buffs used by the Legion Commander on hit.

Inanna - Elzowin's Grace
Inanna uses magick to create a protective zone, with strong defensive powers; granting immunity to push, absorbing some incoming Damage, and more. The moment the protective zone is disabled, targets within the area recover health.

Wei - Awakened Dochul
Wei summons Dochul to launch 3 powerful attacks. Awakened Dochul inflicts massive Stagger damage whenever he attacks.
GEAR & REWARDS
The Relic Quality sets available at the Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPCs require materials from both the Valtan and Vykas Legion Raids to craft a complete set.

Hard mode will grant additional quantities of these items, and drop additional Covetous Wings instead of both Fangs and Wings. Stones of Chaos can also be earned in Hard mode, which are used to craft or upgrade the quality of Relic gear.
ENTRY
Legion Raids can be entered by any number of characters on your roster each week. Each character can face up to three different Legion Commanders each week - meaning your characters can fight both Valtan and Vykas in the same week. However, Normal and Hard difficulties for the same Legion Raid share a weekly lockout, so you can only attempt one difficulty (per commander) per week.

Players can participate in Legion Raids after completing the guide quest ‘[Guide] Notice: Legion Raid’. As an added step for the new Vykas raid, you’ll need to visit the Lunar Knights NPC in Vern castle and start the quest 'Blooming Again', which tells the Covetous Legion Commander's story. Once unlocked, the Vykas Legion Raid is available to enter through the Legion Raid structure located in major cities. Legion Raids can also be entered through the Party Finder tool (icon found below the mini-map), or through the “Integrated Dungeon” menu found by selecting the Integrated Dungeon icon under the mini-map, or by pressing [ALT] + [Q].

TWITCH DROP

Heroes of Arkesia,

Starting on June 30 at 8AM PT (3PM UTC) and running through July 27, members of the Lost Ark Creator Program will have access to a Pupper Mask & Amethyst Shard Set Twitch Drop to enable on their channels! Viewers will need to accumulate 4 hours of watch time in participating Lost Ark streams to claim this Drop reward. Full instructions can be found on our Twitch Drops page.

VYKAS CHALLENGE

In celebration of the second Legion Commander’s appearance, the Lost Ark Creator Program will be hosting the “Vykas Challenge”, similar to last month’s Valtan Challenge.

Participation in this friendly competition is being offered exclusively members of the Lost Ark Creator Program. Try your hand at being one of the first 10 teams to defeat Vykas (normal or hard) before July 3, 11:59 PM PT. Each qualified Creator Program Member on the team will earn 10 Bronze Founders Packs to distribute to their communities. Please see qualification and submission guidelines below.
RULES, QUALIFICATIONS & SUBMISSION
To qualify for this challenge, all of the following conditions must apply to you:
 • You’re a member of the Lost Ark Creator Program by Vykas’s release on June 30. Members accepted later than June 30 will not qualify for the challenge.
 • For your raid clear to qualify, you must complete Vykas on the Western version of Lost Ark published by Amazon Games.

To validate your submission, you must send the following to the [email protected] email alias:

 • In your submission, provide the email and Twitch account in which you have associated with the Creator Program.

 • Not all team members need to be Content Creators. However, all Creators on your team are eligible to win the Bronze Founder’s Packs. For all Content Creators in your team meeting the qualifications above, provide a list of their in-game names, email associated with the Creator Program, and their Twitch channel URL.
 • The challenge must be completed before July 3, 11:59 PM PT.
