Planet of Lana News

The lovely cinematic puzzle adventure Planet of Lana will miss its planned 2022 release and will instead arrive during spring 2023.

According to publisher Thunderful and independent studio Wishfully, the delay will provide the development team with extra time to ensure the game meets its full potential.

"We’re sorry that completing development on Planet of Lana will take longer than initially expected, but we promise it will be worth the wait,” said Wishfully director Adam Stjarnljus.

It's Adam again! A lot has been going on since our latest update in early June, and I have some news for you today - both good and ... less good.

Let's start with the "less good" news: Planet of Lana is shifting from a launch in 2022 to Spring 2023. It has been a passion project for us for a long time, so we want to ensure that when it’s finally available that you are getting it in pristine condition!

So, it's time for the good news now: We are going to attend gamescom 2022 in Cologne next week! Means that you can get your hands on the first ever publicly playable demo of Planet of Lana and dive deeper into our beloved puzzle adventure with both Lana and Mui. You find us at the Thunderful booth Hall 8.1 B-021.

A video for the utterly gorgeous Planet of Lana was shown off today, providing us with a look at some new gameplay.

Announced during Summer Game Fest 2021, Planet of Lana is a cinematic puzzle adventure game framed by an epic sci-fi saga stretching across centuries and galaxies. The game stars a young girl and her loyal friend Mui who are on a rescue mission to save the girl's sister.

In a colorful world full of machines and unknown creatures, the story is experienced through the lens of a cinematic side-scrolling gameplay format. From a gameplay perspective, it’s not only an adventure, but contains platforming, puzzles, tense stealth sequences, and a companion mechanic that allows the duo to use their abilities in tandem.

my name is Adam, I am the Creative Director at Wishfully. It's so nice to welcome you all here at the Steam page of Planet of Lana for this very special moment that we love to share with all of you out there: We are very excited to finally be able to reveal the gameplay of Planet of Lana! To do it at Day of the Devs for Summer Game Fest no less, is a tremendous honor and we couldn’t be more happy to be part of such a fantastic event packed with great games!

In addition to the platforming and sneaky stealth, the core of the game revolves around Lana and her little companion Mui. You can think of Mui kind of like a real life dog that you’re able to give commands to. For instance you can tell her to stay or follow you, and send her up to places you can’t reach and into small places you can’t fit.

The creatures of Novo react differently to Lana and Mui, and figuring out how to use this to your advantage is a big part of the fun! Mui also has a mystical hypnotic ability that she can use to control animals of Novo that have the same white eyes as her. This opens up a lot of interesting possibilities.
