My Serum was critically low. I had to reach the Safe Place, where I stashed one more vial, and hopefully, it was still there. Running through the forest in the middle of the night is never a nice thing to do, but I was lucky to have that extra kick of speed that the Rabbit Serum has given me. I was moving fast, so fast that I didn’t care about the toxic fog going into my lungs and completely ignored the fume toads I was passing on my way.

I knew I was just a few minutes away from the shelter when my right foot caught on something, and I fell face-down on the cold ground. I heard a low-pitched noise, a deep grunt so loud that it made me stay right where I was. A mound in front of me shrugged and moved, revealing two massive tusks and a pair of eyes that were staring right at me.

It was a wild hog a size of a rhino, and it just woke him up…

I needed a weapon, something that would keep those Fume Toads away from me. From the first few scraps of metal I came across in the Safe House and a solid stick I found in the forest, I crafted a Spear that maybe wasn’t looking great, but I wouldn’t want to end up on the sharp end of it. It was time to go outside and try it out.

The safe house was a mess. It looked like someone had left it in a hurry, leaving plenty of essential things behind. After I had finished reading the journal, my attention went to the pieces of paper arranged on the wall around a map.



There were locations on it, marked with pins, with strings attached to some of them for reference. Whoever put it together must have searched these lands through and through. I could quickly tell that some of those places indicated where they found Serum-rich flowers or mushrooms or spots where they found some of the items I could find lying around.

But there was a spot on the map, far away from the safe house, marked with a large pin. I had a feeling that this was where I had to go to get the answers. The next day I woke up before the sunrise and started my journey.
