I didn’t find a single thing I could use for Serum extraction: no flowers, no animals, nothing. The only fume toad I came across today has swiftly jumped over my trap and disappeared into the night. I could barely walk, and I wasn’t thinking straight. The lack of Serum in my body was so apparent, and the pain was so overwhelming that I imagined myself dying in a matter of minutes.

Somehow, I’ve reached the safe house and faced the mysterious machine that was standing in the corner unused since I found this place. I had no idea what it was and what purpose it’s been built for. The only thing I was sure o was that it had a plug that perfectly fitted the socket built into my arm. It could save me or kill me, but right there and then, I had no choice. I had to try it out.

I connected the thick wire to my arm and flicked the switch, and like magic, it worked.

My Serum was critically low. I had to reach the Safe Place, where I stashed one more vial, and hopefully, it was still there. Running through the forest in the middle of the night is never a nice thing to do, but I was lucky to have that extra kick of speed that the Rabbit Serum has given me. I was moving fast, so fast that I didn’t care about the toxic fog going into my lungs and completely ignored the fume toads I was passing on my way.

I knew I was just a few minutes away from the shelter when my right foot caught on something, and I fell face-down on the cold ground. I heard a low-pitched noise, a deep grunt so loud that it made me stay right where I was. A mound in front of me shrugged and moved, revealing two massive tusks and a pair of eyes that were staring right at me.

It was a wild hog a size of a rhino, and it just woke him up…

I needed a weapon, something that would keep those Fume Toads away from me. From the first few scraps of metal I came across in the Safe House and a solid stick I found in the forest, I crafted a Spear that maybe wasn’t looking great, but I wouldn’t want to end up on the sharp end of it. It was time to go outside and try it out.
