Serum News

The safe house was a mess. It looked like someone had left it in a hurry, leaving plenty of essential things behind. After I had finished reading the journal, my attention went to the pieces of paper arranged on the wall around a map.



There were locations on it, marked with pins, with strings attached to some of them for reference. Whoever put it together must have searched these lands through and through. I could quickly tell that some of those places indicated where they found Serum-rich flowers or mushrooms or spots where they found some of the items I could find lying around.

But there was a spot on the map, far away from the safe house, marked with a large pin. I had a feeling that this was where I had to go to get the answers. The next day I woke up before the sunrise and started my journey.

In the darkest part of the wetlands, there’s an ancient tree. It’s both terrifying and beautiful, just like Serum is. The long branches hide a thousand secrets of a thousand souls that ended their lives there. I don’t know why, but it seems to be calling me every time I walk past it. I can hear the voices loud in my head. They know I can’t resist much longer.

Darwin accumulated evidence showing that evolution on Earth had occurred and that living beings have changed drastically throughout history. He was right, and the place I’m in now is the best example of it. You would think that a highly toxic, poisonous substance like Serum could destroy everything it comes with contact with, but you would be wrong.

I am not sure how long the plants and animals I found here have been exposed to the substance, but it was enough to alternate them in many different ways. The physical mutations are very apparent, and at first, I found them repulsive, but now since I’ve examined them closer, I think they’re unique and beautiful in their way. They have adapted to withstand the power of the chemical and use it to their advantage and produce it for their own needs.




Unfortunately, Serum also alternates the minds of thinking creatures, making them a lot more aggressive and unpredictable in their behavior. The animals here are dangerous. They seem to have lost their sense of security, and most of them are never afraid to attack, even beings that are much larger and more dangerous than them. It feels like everything here is my enemy.

I feel the changes Serum does to my body and my mind. Am I adapting to it? Is it helping me and making me stronger? Or am I just losing my mind?
