Nemesis #4.2 Preview - 2-ya Tamanskaya Gv. MSD

Welcome back, commanders.

We return with another Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence preview. In today’s DevBlog, we’ll look at the Warsaw Pact’s renowned Soviet 2-ya Tamanskaya Gvardeyskaya Motostrelkovaya Diviziya or the 2nd Guards Tamanskaya Motorized Rifle Division tasked with defending the capital of the USSR, Moscow.

Onwards, comrades!
2-ya Tamanskaya Gvardeyskaya Motostrelkovaya Diviziya
We have already modelled the following units for the Warsaw Pact division. More are on the way, but let’s do a sneak peek of what you can expect.
Command & Control
First up is the POTOK-2 command vehicle. A purpose-built C&C vehicle, envisioned to be used in BMP mechanized infantry regiments. The unit features a telescopic antenna mast (which is folded on our model below).
Big Wheels
Remaining in the Logistics lab: one of the division’s new supply units is the big-wheeled 6x6 MAZ-535A SNAB truck.
The Guard Dies but Does Not Surrender!
Although their organization and equipment is similar to a regular Motostrelki squad, the Moscow-based GVARDEITSY differ in two crucial aspects: they all receive the Resolute trait, and the 3D models will feature a mix of TTsKO uniforms (as found in 27-ya GvMSD) and new outfits made specifically for them, including Altyn helmet, 6B3 body armor, leather jackets, etc.
Now I know my A-B-Cs
In Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence’s pitch, our initial research indicated that the division’s organic tank force was mainly composed of T-72A Obr. 83. After some more digging, we found out they appeared to be T-72B1 Obr. 84 (see below). This means ATGM-less, but slightly better performance across the board. Their command tank was the very basic T-72AK.

While the tanks in motorized rifle regiments were T-72B1 Obr. 84, as mentioned above, those in the division’s lone tank regiment will be T-64B, with T-64AK command tanks (which we will duly represent).
Ultimate Boss
Next up is a unit that many of you have been eagerly awaiting: Warsaw Pact’s likely new apex predator, the T-80U Obr. 89. Within our timeframe, the first models of this state-of-the-art main battle tank would likely roll out of the factory as the likelihood for conflict in Europe is at a boiling point, delivered in priority to the politically reliable Moscow garrison. Although it features the same level of protection as the T-80UD, it contains a better motor and drive train, plus fields the brand-new Invar ATGM.

In our initial pitch, we mentioned T-80UD from the sister 4-ya GvMSD being attached to the division. But with an already wide array of organic tank variants (T-72K, T-72B1 Obr.84, T-64AK, T-64B), we have removed those in order to shine a brighter light on the T-80U Obr. 89.
SIGINT
Looking rather innocuous, the RPS-6 VEKTOR can detect even well-camouflaged enemies at a distance. The unit is a GAZ-66 truck filled to the brim with SIGINT equipment.
The Ultimate Fulcrum
And finally, the cherry on the cake, the MIG-29 9.13, a variant with a new livery and improved ECM.
Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence
Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence focuses on two unique battlegroups, tasked to safeguard their respective nation’s capital during the Cold War: NATO’s UK’s Home Defence Region London (or H.D.R. London) and the Warsaw Pact’s Soviet 2-ya Tamanskaya Gvardeyskaya Motostrelkovaya Diviziya or 2nd Guards Tamanskaya Motorized Rifle Division covering Moscow, USSR.

In this Nemesis DLC plenty of new units will be featured: from grey-clad SAS G special forces, state-of-the-art AS.90 155mm self-propelled artillery and heavy BLOODHOUND MK.2 SAMs, to GVARDEITSY infantry, unique T-80U obr. 1989 with Kontakt-5 ERA, and advanced MiG-29 9.13 air defense fighters. Check our presentation here for the full roster of each division.

Nemesis #4 is being prepared for release in the not-too-distant future.

Nemesis #4.1 Preview - Home Defence Region London

Welcome back, commanders!

With WARNO - SOUTHAG now finally out in the wild, we’ll be going to take a little peek into one of several dishes cooking in Eugen’s kitchen: Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence.

So, in today’s DevBlog, we preview some of the new models of NATO’s Home Defence Region London.

Let’s go!
Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence
All righty, Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence was voted into existence (with an overwhelming margin) by the WARNO community earlier this year. You can check out the details of how the ballot unfolded in this DevBlog.

Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence focuses on two unique battlegroups, earmarked to safeguard their respective nation’s capital during the Cold War: NATO’s UK’s Home Defence Region London (or H.D.R. London) and the Warsaw Pact’s Soviet 2-ya Tamanskaya Gvardeyskaya Motostrelkovaya Diviziya or 2nd Guards Taman Motorized Rifle Division covering Moscow, USSR.

A bunch of new units will be featured by the two battlegroups: from grey-clad SAS G special forces, state-of-the-art AS.90 155mm self-propelled artillery and heavy BLOODHOUND MK.2 SAMs, to GVARDEITSY special infantry, unique T-80U obr. 1989 with Kontakt-5 ERA, and advanced MiG-29 9.13 air defense fighters.

We are hard at work prepping Nemesis #4 for release in the not-too-distant future.
Home Defence Region London
The following models for NATO’s battlegroup have already passed through the production line. A little overview:
FV1611 and FV1612
These wheeled armored APCs were a common feature of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The different variants carried a host of colorful names, from HUMBER PIG (unarmed version) and KREMLIN PIG (with cope cage and MG turret), to HUMBER FFR (command variant).
New infantry models
The H.D.R. London battlegroup will feature a wide array of new infantry squads, from iconic GUARDS to elite SAS “G” units, but also new RIFLES PATROL, AIRMOBILE TERRIER, and even new models for the existing “Dad’s Army” HSF units.
World War II Vintage
NATO’s battlegroup did not have access to any organic artillery assets, save for the local Guards battalion’s mortars. They could, however, tap into a verifiable trove of World War II-era storage artillery guns, including the QF 25-Pdr 87.6 mm and the BL 5.5-inch 140mm.
The Last Centurions
In a similar vein to its artillery, the battlegroup could not count on its own tank force, but instead had to rely on War Material Reserve (mostly CENTURION MK.13) to equip its reservists in the Greater London metropolitan area. A few training and demonstration tanks could also be sourced from the Bovington’s training grounds (famous for its excellent Tank Museum!).
Foxhounds
Local Yeomanry territorial units would act as the battlegroup’s eyes, using plenty of FOX vehicles, including some upgraded with the ZB 298 battlefield radar, or the ROVER YEOMAN.
Bloodhounds
Bringing us to H.D.R. London’s heavy air defense assets, namely the massive BLOODHOUND SAM unit, roughly equivalent to the Warsaw Pact’s Krug, but available in a towed capacity and capable of only firing one shot each time.
War Booty
Helicopter support will be limited, but the rotorcraft that can be deployed include some rather unusual specimens: A-109 helos captured from the Argentinians during the Falklands War. These were brought home and later pressed into service with the SAS.
Birds of Prey
Alongside some ubiquitous TORNADO and F-4 fighter-bombers, the RAF will provide air support in the form of improved HARRIER GR.5 and HAWK T.1 trainers.

It should be noted that although not part of our original Nemesis #4 - Capital Defence pitch, a new aircraft has been added: the older CANBERRA bomber in a new HE carpet bombing role and unarmed electronic warfare variant.
