Hello Wardens, have you stayed warm during this cold weather? Luckily there's a lot of volunteers in the prison who can help warm you up, but remember to also stay hydrated! ːkarrynWardenː

The v.1.1.1 update features a few changes to the Waitress Side Job since it's the the most often played side job for most player. The main change is that when Karryn takes a drink order, an icon will now appear below the bar patron for what drink they ordered. Basically, this change removes the stress of memorizing, and for some players, the metagaming of writing down the order on a notepad or other external program. I have always felt doing something that is only not fun, but takes the player out of the immersion.

However! ːkarrynGlassesː For people who do enjoy the immersion of memorizing drink orders while balancing everything else going on in the bar, I have replaced the old waitress Cheat with a new Cheat that disables the order icons. Unlike other Cheats in the ingame Settings, this Cheat during works for all modes so feel free to turn it on if you want to roleplay. ːgoblinInmateː

Another major change with this update is that unless you're in Free Play Mode, you no longer get a choice of how long of shift Karryn has to do for each side job. The original intent of giving players the choice is to gamble if they want to do a shorter, safer shift, or gamble for a potentially more rewarding but longer and harder shift. However once again, min-maxing would mean almost always picking the longest shift even if the player themselves don't think it's the most fun shift.

• The battle log will no longer be restricted during the Waitress Side Job.
  
• Bar Patron orders will now additionally appear as an icon beneath the patron's portrait.
  
• A new Waitress skill, 'Take Orders (Table)' will allow Karryn to ask everyone at the table what their orders are.
  
• Changes to the cooldown on how often a bar patron can harass Karryn (the same person should no longer harass Karryn multiple times in the span of a few ingame seconds).
  
• Instead of doing nothing, horny bar patrons will now harass Karryn if she asks for their order when they're already drinking and didn't ask for Karryn (aka glow yellow).
  
• Added a new Cheat in the Settings for removing the drink ordered icons from the Waitress Side Job.
  
• Removed the old Cheat in the Settings that enabled the battle log during the Waitress Side Job since the battle log is now always enabled.
  
• Removed the ability to choose how many minutes to do a side job for during normal play.

Rem here, I want to thank everyone for supporting us over the years, Karryn's Prison was in development for over three years, and we wouldn't have gotten here with all our great fans ːlovewaveː As mentioned in the previous Steam news and in our posts on our other sites, we're currently on a break and then we'll come back to work on the Gym DLC. My partner, the other half of Remtairy, Sachinama is currently recovering from both eye surgery and Covid-19 but don't worry, his health has been getting better every day! ːlovewaveː

There has been some concerns from people who brought Karryn's Prison on Steam but are now no longer able to access the store page because it has been region blocked for their country. Do not worry, I'm going to make sure the Gym DLC purchased from other websites will still work for your Steam copy of Karryn's Prison. ːsteamthumbsupː

And it has been brought to my attention that there is Steam Awards Nominations going on at the moment! While I personally think Karryn's Prison is the Game of the Year, I don't think our indie fanbase can compete with all those triple AAA big dogs and free-to-play million player games. So how about we all vote Karryn's Prison for Most Innovative Gameplay and see if we can hit the Top 10? Don't worry, I still love you all even if it doesn't. ːkarrynComfyː

Karryn's Prison has now been updated to v.1.1.0!! Details are posted at the end of this post! With the v.1.1.0 includes the long awaited Chinese localizations! We deeply thank you for your patience during all the delays, but we think the wait is worth it to have an official high quality translation that we're happy with! ːkarrynFanː

There was actually suppose to be one more item happening with this update, which was the release of our first DLC, the Gym Trainer DLC, or atleast an announcement of its release date. However, during the beta test that started two days ago, the feedback on it has been way below expectations so we will be delaying the DLC for further review and development. Karryn's Prison has been updated to v.1.0.6b and with it brings the official Korean localization! Much thanks to our Korean translator, beans, and all our Korean fans on Discord who helped out with the alpha test of the Korean localization! ːkarrynFanːːlovewaveː

You can now play Karryn's Prison in Korean by going into the in game settings and changing the language to Korean!

In addition, v.1.0.6b brings an added functionality for mod authors who are using the /mods/ folder and mods.txt to implement their mod, which is the recommended and ideal method to implement a mod instead of just overwriting the files in /js/plugins. Credits to EtchiMan#0903 on our Discord for the code! Mod authors, please take a look at the new Mods.txt for instructions on how to have your mod automatically be added to mods.txt without the end-user having to do it themselves.

Work is continuing on with the Gym Side Job DLC, which hopefully will be completed in the Fall. ːkarrynGlassesː

Hello Wardens, summer fireworks are happening here outside right now, but pay no mind to what's going outside and focus on subjugating those inmates! ːkarrynWardenː

Karryn's Prison has been updated to v.1.0.6a, and with it tentatively brings Steam Workshop access. However, because Karryn's Prison is using the RPGMaker MV engine, with one exception only, workshop mods will NOT automatically activate even after you subscribe to them. Anyone looking to upload to the Workshop will need to provide instructions in their mods for the end users on how to use their mod.

Mod authors who are interested in uploading their mods to the workshop for Karryn's Prison should use these guides from other games as temporary reference until someone writes one for us:

I know our Chinese fans have been waiting for an official localization. It's still being worked on, and it's not finished yet. ːtonkinBulliedː And I know there are some people upset that the Chinese localization is not finished yet, personally I don't think it's justified since our Chinese team have been working hard on it, but I also know that there has been an unofficial fan translation available. So I've contacted the mod author and they've agreed to upload their mod to the Workshop. Since then I've personally spent time implementing part of the mod into the game so that anyone can safely and easily get the Chinese translation mod working for the game with just one click on Steam.

Once again, note that this is an unofficial fan translation, and we are still working on an official version with our Chinese team, but in meantime, I hope that I've made it easier for all our loyal Chinese fans on Steam to be able to enjoy Karryn's Prison in Chinese! ːkarrynComfyː

Once you've subscribed to the Chinese mod and it's downloaded on Steam, you can change the language in the ingame settings to Chinese!

In addition, v.1.0.6a features an experimental code to fix slowdowns that happen in the later waves of Endless Battles. Let me know if they work for you or not! ːkarrynGlassesː
