Happy New Year - Here's what's next for Black One Blood Brothers

Hello everyone,

First of all, I wish you all a very Happy New Year! I hope 2025 brings you health, happiness, and success!

I want to thank you for your unwavering support for Black One Blood Brothers. Whether through your feedback, encouragement, or simply by being here, it means the world to me. Developing a game solo is a constant challenge, but you help me move forward every day. Thank you!

Today, I’m sharing my “roadmap” for the game, highlighting the different aspects I’ll be working on to continue enriching and improving Black One Blood Brothers in 2025.

Mocap Suit Acquisition


A significant technical milestone on my end: I’ve acquired a Mocap Suit! This tool will allow me to create much more realistic and varied animations. It will take some time, but the goal is to greatly enhance immersion for operators, enemies, and cinematics.



New Content


New weapons, accessories, outfits, and equipment—exciting content is coming this year!

Western Forces: Inspired by Western special forces, featuring a variety of weapons and equipment.
Eastern Forces: Bringing an Eastern flair, with unique styles and gear.

These additions will provide even more customization options for your squads.



New Operator Customization


I’m also working on improved operator customization. Soon, you’ll be able to modify their body shapes and adjust their facial features. I hope this new feature helps you make your squad even more unique.

New Maps: Psychiatric Asylum and Mountain Region


Two new maps are in the works:
Psychiatric Asylum: A tense, tactical map designed to feel oppressive.
Ancient Temple: A more open area featuring buildings and strategic points.

Gameplay Improvements


This year’s focus will be on refining gameplay!

AI with more precise and adaptive behaviors.
Revised sounds to enhance atmosphere.
A more intuitive user interface for smoother navigation.
And, of course, bug fixes.


Enhanced Immersion


I’m continuing to work on immersion and narrative elements in the game. This includes more polished cinematics, refined animations, and new voiceovers. These are small steps, but I hope they make a big difference for you.

Update 1.52


Before all these updates, here’s what’s coming in the next 1.52 update:

A photo mode to capture your operators in their best moments.
New weapons and accessories.
Even more outfits and equipment.
Resting weapon postures to diversify animations.
Enemies using flashlights during nighttime missions.
New weather options for greater variety.
An improved enemy cover selection system.

- Addition: New game icon
- Improvement: Shot animations
- Improvement: Recoil intensity of firearms
- Improvement: Camera shake movement when firing in first-person view
- Improvement: Soldiers' acceleration speed
- Improvement: Enemy's vision is synchronized with their head rotation
- Fix: Operators might not be displayed in the correct order in the radial menu for switching operators
- Fix: The camera movement while shooting with a weapon could have slight unwanted jitters
- Fix: "VK-18" assault rifle did not have the correct iron sights

Update 1.51c: Improvements and hotfix

- Addition: Bullets passing near the player create a suppression visual effect on the player's camera
- Improvement: Fire mode adjustment for the "V4 Benili" rifle
- Improvement: Recoil system
- Improvement: AI enemies take longer to shoot if their weapon was previously slung on their back
- Improvement: Operator maintains their firing stance when shooting with a bolt-action rifle and a laser while using night vision goggles
- Fix: Reticle selection error when the sight is mounted on a sniper scope
- Fix: Display error with ground markings on the aircraft carrier

Update 1.51b: Improvements and hotfix

- Addition: Floor display in "Battle Plan" mode remains in memory for the next use
- Addition: Invisible walls around the aircraft carrier to prevent accidental falls
- Improvement: Global lighting rendering on the training map
- Improvement: The elevator controls on the aircraft carrier now blink to make them easier to locate
- Improvement: Objectives are less likely to be located in a dynamic campaign based on the campaign's progression
- Improvement: Stats for the "Old School" stock for the "V4 Classic" assault rifle
- Fix: Equipment display error when the player pressed the interaction key too quickly after eliminating an enemy in melee combat
- Fix: Decals on the aircraft carrier may not have displayed correctly
- Fix: Interior of the aircraft carrier was affected by weather conditions
- Fix: Lights inside the aircraft carrier could sometimes display the wrong texture
- Fix: Knives and radios were not accounted for in the inventory weight
- Fix: Enemy corpses could disappear while in the player's line of sight

New Maps


Two new maps are ready for deployment, offering unique tactical challenges. The Carrier Deck is a tight, linear battlefield, perfect for intense close-quarters combat. Its straightforward design keeps the action fast and focused, with little room for error. In contrast, the Stronghold opens up vast strategic possibilities, with a diverse layout featuring ample cover, ambush points, and sniper-friendly zones. It’s an ideal playground for sharpshooters and spotters to outmaneuver the enemy. Both maps demand precision, adaptability, and tactical finesse.

The Campaign Editor


This is your chance to take full command. With the Campaign Editor, you’re no longer just a player—you’re the architect of war. Design every detail of your operation, from the maps to the narratives, crafting missions that expand the lore of Black One Blood Brothers. Once your masterpiece is complete, share it with the community on Steam Workshop and inspire others to join the fight. Your creativity is the key to building a richer, deeper world. Let’s see what you’ve got!

UAV device has never seen before


Air support just got a massive upgrade. The outdated radio kit has been retired and replaced by the advanced UAV Kit, giving you four powerful options for air superiority. Use it to scout the terrain, call in precise artillery strikes, or identify the perfect landing zone for supply drops. Take direct control of the drone, and turn the tides of battle with cutting-edge tactical capabilities. The sky is no longer the limit—it’s your advantage.

A more lively world


The world of Black One Blood Brothers is evolving. Enemies now exhibit more dynamic behaviors, interacting with each other during idle moments to create a more immersive battlefield. Hostages have also been overhauled with greater diversity and more realistic responses to threats, raising the stakes of every rescue mission. Additionally, the mall has been enriched with new furniture and cover options, adding layers of strategy to firefights.

Helios is committed to continually refining the AI and world design. These changes are just the beginning, with more enhancements already in the pipeline.
