Still Wakes the Deep News

Still Wakes the Deep: Siren's Rest is a surprise bit of submechanophobia-inducing DLC that's washing ashore next week

There are two reasons you shouldn't watch the trailer for Still Wakes the Deep's just announced DLC Siren's Rest. The first is that, well, it'll probably spoil at least some of the events of the base game given that the expansion is set more than a decade on. The other is for the subset of you that have just the worst case of submechanophobia, because the trailer is absolutely full of man-made objects under water. You've been warned, don't come crying to me if you don't heed me, I'll just say I told you so.

Still Wakes the Deep is getting its first DLC, and it's just around the corner

Perhaps I'm slightly biased - I am Scottish, after all - but The Chinese Room's eerie oil rig-set misadventure had its hooks in me from start to finish. As someone who's far too excited about Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, The Chinese Room's most recent outing proved that they can make truly great videogames and, quite honestly, sparked some hope that Bloodlines 2 can be the horror epic I'm hoping for. But, ahead of the vampire RPG's release, Still Wakes the Deep is getting a new DLC, aptly entitled Siren's Rest.

Oil Strike ‘75 is One Year Old!

As you know, Cadal doesn’t celebrate birthdays, but we do! One year ago today, Sumo Digital Academy released their oil rig management game, Oil Strike ‘75, into the world.

Oil Strike ‘75 became a companion title for Still Wakes the Deep - have you tried it yet? You can do so here*. Set before the events on the Beira D, and was secretly released just before the main game. Learn what it takes to be a rig manager like Davey Rennick as you drill deeper into the North Sea for oil and treasure.

The team over at Sumo Digital Academy released four Dev Diaries of how they brought the simulator to life. You can find part one and two here, and three and four here.

*worker safety from terrifying lovecraftian horrors and oil leaks is not guaranteed.
