Sweet little garden simulation The Garden Path currently has a demo on and if you're a member of the Stardewbut fanclub you should really go ahead and download it. From the 30 mintues I've spent with it so far, it's certainly more gardening than farming, and probably shares more with Animal Crossing, really. It's managed to unlock some dusty old memories I have of watching Beatrix Potter animated VHS tapes—partially thanks to its art style and also thanks to characters whose vocabulary includes words like "coppice" and "secateurs".

[h3]Hello gardeners,[/h3]

I hope you're all doing well. This is only a short update from me as I wanted to let you know that this Friday I will be going live with another Art Stream on Twitch and, for the first time, Steam!

I'll be joined with my streaming partner in crime, Crakie, and so I'm sure many art-related shenanigans will be in store (though we can't promise any more banana-related antics this time).



If you've enjoyed watching me work then come along to see some more. There might also be a little more in-game demonstration this time too, you'll get a look at the latest demo update prior to its release.

Hi all, just pushed this latest version which expands mouse support across the game, as well as other bug fixes and stability tunings.

+ Player movement can now be made with the mouse by left clicking and dragging in the direction you want to move. Actions can be made by right clicking
+ New 'Dash' UI element allows opening other UI elements with the mouse, and also provides control reminders.
+ Character dialogue now supports mouse controls.
+ Most system menus and options now support mouse control.
+ Various camera tunes.
+ Inventory stability fixes.
+ Fixed item duplicate/deletion bug when trading with items in the overflow.

Note that the new game screen, stars and quantity selector are yet to support mouse controls.

What a tumultuous couple of weeks we've had.

It's hard to believe the Kickstarter campaign is wrapped up and behind us - but thanks to the earnest support of every backer and follower, there's now plenty more to come.

In case you missed it, during our 30 days on Kickstarter we not only hit full funding but also both of our stretch goals!

And so The Garden Path will be both coming to Nintendo Switch and will offer Local Multiplayer.

Overall 1,097 backers pledged £30,474 to help this game blossom.

It's an incredible achievement that wouldn't have been possible without you, whether or not you were in a position to back the game, you have my thanks.


[h3]See You at the Future Games Show![/h3]

As the title of this update suggests, I am happy to announce that The Garden Path will be featured in The Future Games Show at this year's Gamescom!

With the show back online this year, GamesRadar presents The Future Games Show will be taking place TODAY (Thursday, August 26) at 13:00 PDT / 16:00 EDT / 21:00 BST / 22:00 CEST.

I can't wait to share The Garden Path to a new audience and, hopefully, I'll see you there.

While the Kickstarter is over, the demo continues to live on.

In fact, you'll even be able to access the demo via Steam from the 26th of August.

This will help us get The Garden Path to as many people as possible and will give you a whole new toolset in experiencing the game. You'll be able to share screenshots, chat in the community hub, and more.

So, keep your eyes open for that, and be sure to share your gardening journey!

I am overjoyed to announce that The Garden Path hit full funded over the weekend, and with still some days to spare!

The Garden Path started out as a passion project, but seeing it grow and reach each milestone, it's clear that it's grown beyond just me and its small beginnings.

The support you’ve lent The Garden Path has been endlessly encouraging and it’s been wonderful seeing this community grow and come together. I hope you'll continue to join me along the game's development into the coming months.

I could never have imagined The Garden Path would garner this kind of response, it’s an endless encouragement. At the risk of once again sounding like a broken record - thank you.



[h3]What’s next for The Garden Path?[/h3]

While there are just several days left until The Garden Path leaves Kickstarter, there's still time to take things a little bit further with a stretch goal.

And I think it's one you'll be excited to see: a Nintendo Switch version of The Garden Path!

This stretch goal will be unlocked at £25,000, and will make this cozy game even cozier as you’ll be able to play it tucked up in bed, maybe with your own home-brewed tea to hand.

Just note that I can only guarantee Steam/Itch.io copies of the game as part of backer rewards.

What if this stretch goal isn't met? The Nintendo Switch is a great fit for The Garden Path and I'd love to bring the game to the platform someday. But if (or when) this happens, can't be guaranteed.
