Slime Rancher 2 News

It's no yolk, Slime Rancher 2 new slimes include rare egg slime

The Slime Rancher 2 Song of the Sabers update brought two new slimes to the early access game, and - just in time for Easter - the new Yolky Slime is egg-actly what the farming game was missing. Disclaimer: Yes, this article contains far too many egg puns.

Slime Rancher 2 is an eggs-quisite management game in which you, as explorer Beatrix LeBeau, wrangle adorable slimes across Rainbow Island. While the game is still in early access (Accegg? Eggess?), its initial sales figures "staggered" dev Monomi Park, and the first huge content update - featuring the very serious yolk slime - was released on February 17, with more to come before the game's full launch.
Song of the Sabers Features Overview

Explore a New Biome
Powderfall Bluffs is a prehistoric frozen island that has mysteriously emerged from the Slime Sea. It’s an icy biome unlike anything ever seen in Slime Rancher, but you’ll need to find it first before enjoying this winter wonderland. Here’s a hint: the entrance to it is located somewhere in Ember Valley…
Wrangle New Slimes
This snowy sanctuary is home to Saber Slimes—a ferocious blast from the past! And this update also includes a new, RARE slime, but we don’t want to make it overly easy for you to find it so that’s all the info you’re getting from us…
Source New Food
Prehistoric Thundercluck chickens roam among the snowdrifts. They’re scary looking! But they just look like dinner to a Saber Slime.
Gather New Resources
Powderfall Bluffs offers many new precious resources from its frigid peaks including impossibly Perfect Snowflakes, rare Sun Sap, and adorable Slime Fossils.
Build New Gadgets
Start an icy dust-up anywhere with the Snowball Machine or put other handy gadgets to use like the Hydro Shower, Location Markers, and new Warp Tech.
Craft Wintery Deco
Craft a giant snowflake just because you can, or a snow globe that plays music to really set the mood, as well as golden slime and chicken statues and earn the admiration (or at least curiosity) of your fellow ranchers.
Walk Upon Auroral Anomalies
Phantom-like flora gleam throughout the landscape and nightfall illuminates bridges that allow you to reach new heights along the icy mountains—but act fast before they vanish with the dawn.
Snowball Fights
Slimes love to play in the snow and won’t hesitate to engage in a snowball fight with you and other slimes!
Beyond the Frozen Horizon
Song of the Sabers is our first major content update for Slime Rancher 2 and aims to deliver more of what you know and love about Slime Rancher, with a few surprises along the way.

Following this update, Monomi Park will be developing new features that build upon the core activities and game systems of Slime Rancher, allowing you to experience Rainbow Island in new ways. We’re excited about this set of features that we think will wiggle, jiggle, and shake up the Slime Rancher formula.

Further out, Beatrix’s adventure will finally take her into the massive and mysterious Grey Labyrinth that blocks her progress across the furthest reaches of the island. And though its purpose and history remain unknown, it's clear that the key to unlocking the secrets of Rainbow Island lies beyond its walls.

All the Days Ahead

Since the Early Access launch of Slime Rancher 2, the development team here at Monomi Park has been hard at work combing through your feedback and reviews, fixing bugs, and developing content updates. We’d like to take a moment to talk about the future of Slime Rancher 2 as well as set expectations for the content and pace of those updates.

Monomi Park is a relatively small studio that prioritizes team health above all else. This means that we will take all the time we need to deliver high-quality updates so that our team can remain happy and healthy, and ready to deliver the updates that follow. This approach allows us to support Slime Rancher 2 long-term, just as we did with the original.

Because of this, our approach to content updates is to make larger updates that have a clear reason for players to revisit the game. So while you’re welcome to wait for updates to ‘build up,’ our objective is that each major content update to Slime Rancher 2 is an update worth returning to Rainbow Island and continuing your experience for a while.

And once you do find yourself running out of steam with the latest update, take a break! We believe it’s healthy for our players and their long-term enjoyment of Slime Rancher 2 to know when it’s time to leave Rainbow Island for a while until the next major update comes along. If you follow Monomi Park or Slime Rancher on social media, subscribe to our newsletter, or watch for news posts on your preferred platform, then you’ll know right away when updates arrive and when it’s time once more to tighten your boots and ready your Vacpack.

So what does the future hold for Beatrix’s new adventure in Slime Rancher 2? Our first major content update will be available in early 2023 and will have Beatrix discovering a mysterious, glacial island off the coast of Ember Valley known as Powderfall Bluffs. As if it were a giant, icy time capsule, Beatrix will discover a thriving community of prehistoric Saber Slimes and Thundercluck chickens within, as well as a treasure trove of new resources for crafting and strange, auroral anomalies scattered about the zone. And keep your head low, because slimes love a good snowball fight!

Following the release of Powderfall Bluffs, the team will be deep into development of new features that build upon a lot of the core activities in Slime Rancher, enriching the experience you know and love. Our plan is to bundle many of these together into the second major content update, allowing players to return to Slime Rancher 2 and experience many parts of the game in new ways. This second major content update will take time to develop, but we feel it will pay huge dividends on the overall experience with Slime Rancher 2 for all updates to come.

Further out, Beatrix’s adventure will finally take her into the massive and mysterious Grey Labyrinth that blocks her progress across the furthest reaches of the island. And though its purpose and history remain unknown, it's clear that the key to unlocking the secrets of Rainbow Island lie beyond its walls.

We hope you’re as excited for the future of Slime Rancher as we all are here at Monomi Park. It has been a pleasure to see you enjoy this world we built and now share with you. We immensely appreciate your feedback, support, and patience as we develop Slime Rancher 2 in a way that is healthy and sustainable for our team, and that produces fun, inspiring, and beautiful updates (with at least a few very silly things in it) for all of you.

Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you out there on Rainbow Island; now, or in all the days ahead.

Slime Rancher 2 - Patch 0.1.2 Notes

Slime Rancher 2 Patch 0.1.2 includes bugfixes, and some balance and quality of life changes. It is not a major content patch. We will be providing an update to the Slime Rancher community in the near future that covers what to expect with Slime Rancher 2’s future content updates. Stay tuned!
Slime Rancher 2 - Patch 0.1.2

Changes:
• New options are available in the Display Settings to adjust gamma and brightness.
 • Mouse sensitivity range has been increased.
 • Slowed down reproduction rates of chickens outside of coops, preventing the chicken uprising.
 • Reduced the animal cull limit in the Conservatory to remove chickens where the uprising has already happened.
 • Made some adjustments to Cotton Slime hopping that will reduce their tendency to hop out of corrals, especially with food nearby. We’ll be keeping an eye on this one and would appreciate your feedback.
 • Many deco gadget costs have been adjusted, increasing in Plort cost but reducing in Slime Science material costs.
 • Adjusted the cost of the Water Tank to allow for it to be crafted earlier in the experience.
Bugfixes:
• Various typos have been corrected, others have been left in intentionally. That’s just how BOb talks, ok?
 • Names in the Credits have been adjusted and corrected. (sorry!)
 • Fixed an issue where Beatrix would sometimes fall through the ground.
 • Fixed an issue where players could not increase the rank of certain vac upgrades despite having the necessary upgrade components.
 • Fixed an issue where certain resources could not be collected after a prolonged game session.
 • Fixed a bug causing Tarr to be more dangerous than intended.

Thank you again for your support in making Slime Rancher 2 a huge success. We are very grateful to our community and excited for the adventure ahead that we will share with you.
