'Trenches' Game Update V.1.1.7 - 19/08/21

Hello everybody! I hope you are all doing great.

Game Patch: V1.1.7 is now live!

As always - I would like to thank you all for your support, suggestions and feedback.

Mostly this update contains some bug fixes, and some small changes. We also added points of interests and hiding places in the map layout. This may make things a bit easier to know where you can go to hide from the enemy or where you can find items, if you have a map.

  • Some changes have been made to the map.
  • Points of interests and hiding places were now placed in the map layout and you can see where they are. Hiding places are marked with a red dot.
  • Enemy can now start running at random times if he sense that you are in an area.
  • Added new sounds effects.
  • Added new sounds effects to the enemy.
  • Fixed some randomized jumpscares.
  • Added some new animations.
  • Fixed some new triggers.
  • Fixed some grammar issues.
  • Fixed other minor bugs and issues.
  • Some small changes for better performance was made.
  • The game size is now smaller. (Around 10% smaller then before)
  • All updates apply to both the normal game mode and the no jumpscare game mode.


Also, I forgot to update that we also added rotating to items - so you can rotate items you find in the game now. This was made in update V1.1.7.

'Trenches' Game Update V.1.1.6 (Weapons, New Mode, Enemy & More) - 10/08/21

Hello everybody! I hope you are all doing well.

It's been a very busy week - but finally the update is here! ːsteamhappyː

Game Patch: V.1.1.6 is now live!

As always - I would like to thank you all for your support, suggestions and feedback. Some of the updates were all suggested by you, so thank you so much and keep them coming! I will be more then happy to hear all your suggestions and feedbacks as this helps me to improve 'Trenches'.



'Trenches' has gotten a new bigger update and one of them is the new weapon system and a new game mode. This is something that was requested a lot, especially regarding the jumpscares of the game. Some of them have been changed or toned down in the normal mode, and while I can work on that - I also added a new mode which is called 'No Jumpscare Mode'. Even though it says 'No Jumpscare Mode' - in reality there are still some, but most of them are gone especially the randomized ones.

Apart from that - the enemy also got a new touch. I hope you like the new one! ːsteamhappyː

Major Updates:

* Weapons are now added in the game. You can find a weapon in the Trenches which can make you feel a bit more safer. Weapons will be stored in the Inventory and can be equipped at any time you want. The weapon will also limit you to do certain things.

* New 'game mode' have been added. A new game mode was added which is called 'No Jumpscare Mode' and this decreases the amount of jumpscares in the game. A lot of feedback went into the jumpscares so I decided to add this mode for now till I can slowly work on the other jumpscares. Please note that some jumpscares are still in the game, however mostly are the scripted ones - all the randomized scares are little-to-none. Some loud jumpscares were completely removed.

* New updated, modified enemy with updated animations. The enemy now have been worked on a lot and looks a bit more alive and feels more threatening. A lot of people asked what the enemy will do when he find you and how is he going to attack you - this will now find a solution to that question.


Apart from that there are some other changes in the game.

  • Enemy was reworked on and got a new look and it's been modified to look a bit more alive.
  • Fixed the game winning screen to take more time in order to read the text.
  • Updated the game ending screen that fits with the new enemy.
  • Enemy also now have a new set of animations.
  • Enemy now also includes more sounds for taunting the player.
  • Updated the navigation of the enemy.
  • New animations have been made.
  • Weapons have now been added in the game. Please note this is still a major update and in WIP.
  • Added guns which the player can use with animations. Player can now find and store guns in the inventory.
  • Weapons can be equipped by [1] or any shortcuts of your choice. You can change the shortcut in the Inventory screen.
  • New game-mode called 'No Jumpscare Mode' is now available. You can choose to start a normal game or a No Jumpscare Mode game. No Jumpscare Mode have little-to-no jumpscares instead.
  • Updated Main Menu - you can now select if you wish to start a normal game, or a No Jumpscare Mode game.
  • Updated some trigger events in the Trenches.
  • Updated sounds effects.
  • Some jumpscares were changed and updated.
  • Added the option which you can turn 'Smooth Look' on or off in the settings menu. (In-Game Only)
  • Camera effects settings have been updated.
  • Updated some notes and pictures around the map.
  • New sound effects have been made.
  • Fixed other minor bugs and issues.
  • Some grammer typo have been fixed.

'Trenches' Game Update V.1.1.5 - 29/07/21

Mostly this update contains minor bug fixes, and some small changes.

  • Made the enemy with a more increased eye-sight.
  • Added new sounds effects.
  • Added new sounds effects to the enemy.
  • Fixed some randomized jumpscares that were appearing too soon.
  • Replaced some jumpscares with older ones.
  • New models have been added.
  • Replaced old skeleton models with newer ones.
  • Added a couple of new minor changes related to models.
  • New triggers have been added around the map.
  • Fixed some grammar issues.
  • Increased the time when the game winning screen appears.
  • Fixed other minor bugs and issues.

'Trenches' Game Update V.1.1.3 - 26/07/21

Hello everybody! I hope you are all doing great.

Game Patch: V.1.1.3 is now live!

As always - I would like to thank you all for your support, suggestions and feedback.

I wish to also take the time to thank you all so much for your support. This really means so much to me! It was my dream to get my horror game out there and I am trying to do my best in continuing that dream with all your help ːsteamhappyː .. so thank you so much! You're all amazing.

As I said on my post about my planned features here - I wanted that the inventory system to play a bigger part in the game. Therefore, I am adding items that can be collected in the Inventory. In the previous update the map was made to be a collectable instead so you can use it from the Inventory. Now the Wire Cutter has been added to the game along with barb wire to block paths and some other changes.

  • Updated the new map system with more signs and some fixes.
  • Wire cutters have been added into the game. You can now find the wire cutters and you can then cut down barb wire that it's on your way.
  • Barb wire now appears in the map which will block your way unless you have a wire cutter.
  • Fixed a glitch where a white box was appearing sometimes in the map.
  • Fixed a bug where the Settings where being disabled/enabled randomly on the start of the game.
  • Camera effects settings have been updated.
  • Updated the enemies navigation.
  • Some map layouts have been changed.
  • Enemy now includes more sounds for taunting the player.
  • Enemy is now more deadlier, with an increased eye-sight and speed.
  • Enemy's footsteps sounds have been decreased.
  • The player can now no longer prone, but only crouch instead.
  • Updated some trigger events.
  • Key bindings have been updated. You can change the keys to anything you like from the Main Menu by going in Controls.
  • Notes, pictures and letters have been scattered around the map. Some letters also tell some stories.
  • More life have been added to the Trenches - insects, ants and other type of critters.
  • New sound effects have been made.
  • Fixed other minor bugs and issues.


The new added update now contains the wire cutter , which will be placed around the map for you to find. Once found, you can put it in your inventory and any Barb Wire* that you come across the map then you can cut it off. If not, then you can not access that area and you need to take a longer path or have to find another way across.

Also the settings on the last updated were glitched, some of them were showing disabled while the effects were indeed enabled. This has also been fixed. The post-processing effects can now be disabled in the main menu, while the other effects (such as camera blinking, rain drops effects and such) can only be disabled/enabled once you started a new game (in the in-game menu) for the moment.

'Trenches' Game Update V.1.1.2 - 22/07/21

Hello everybody!

Game Patch: V.1.1.2 is now live!

As always - I would like to thank you all for your support, suggestions and feedback.

A new map system have been added so now instead of having multiple paper maps scattered around the trenches with the location of where you are, now we have landmarks and signs in the game and in the map itself. The map also can now be picked up and stored into your inventory, so you can always see it when you want.

  • Added a new map system. Now you can pickup the map and store it in your inventory.
  • The game has been updated with landmarks and signs so you can see where you are if you have the map. The map needs to be found in order to have it in your inventory.
  • Fixed a bug where the enemy was going into the player hiding place (mostly putting his butt inside)
  • Added a new option in the settings where you can now disable or enable anti-analising effect.
  • Added a new option in the settings where you can now disable or enable Ambient Occlusion effect.
  • Updated the enemies navigation.
  • Fixes minor bugs and issues.


From your inventory, you can now open up the map and see it while you play the game. The map has been updated with landmarks and signs so you will need to navigate through the Trenches using your map and by seeing the landmarks and signs around you.
