Best Forklift Operator gets bigger and bigger!

Dear masters of forklifts, (you have been playing our title so intensely that we can call you this way), we have more good news and a big update for you.

Each subsequent week in Early Access is a big and exciting challenge for us. We keep in touch with you all the time and learn what you would like from a title like BFO.

Therefore, after previous updates, which brought a lot of improvements related to the comfort of the game, a number of supported steering wheels, and VR goggles - now is the time for new, juicy content!

Yupitergrad 2: The Lost Station is coming to Steam!



During the development of Yupitergrad we wanted to bring a real breakthrough to the world of Virtual Reality.

It was a challenge on which we focused all our strengths and resources and worked for months without rest. We finished the game, but it didn't quite feel like our entire, huge vision managed to find its way into (virtual) reality.


The changes we dreamed about for a long time, made us return to the drawing board, and we realized that we cannot limit ourselves to creating only new additions to something that already exists.
Because our dreams outgrew their container.

Here’s why, instead of reshaping the original, we began working on Yupitergrad 2: The Lost Station, a true sequel that will allow us to boldly stand next to such important titles for Virtual Reality as Superhot, HL: Alyx or Population: One.
We want our new title to prove that Virtual Reality is ready for real action-adventure games.


So what's changing? First of all, an extensive space base, with its own secrets to discover and robots that, for some reason, decided to attack us. During our journey, we will be accompanied by AIsha, a wonderful artificial intelligence whose voice and abilities will aid us during our exploration and traverse of the mysterious space station.


We have thrown the features of modern Metroidvania into our workshop and decided to transfer, first time in video games history, them to Virtual Reality. And we can't wait for you to play it!

Dear forklift operators - thank you for supporting us, for waiting for this update, and for helping us choose what will be most important to you!

As you can see - this time we added some really important things to the game, things that you asked for from the very beginning of Early Access. Thanks to the work of our team, in the current update we can communicate adding the steering wheel support you requested so much, beta version of VR goggles + other controllers support, We also introduced completely new control presets and improved button binding. The final surprise is that Best Forklift Operator already supports Point shop and Community Items!

[h3]🏁 Support for Steering Wheels & Pedals[/h3]
We are pleased to confirm that the game now supports steering wheels. We have prepared for the support of four specific, the most popular (tested and confirmed are: Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 (Xbox 360 model), Logitech G29, Thrustmaster T150 Racing Wheel & Thrustmaster T300 RS Racing Wheel) and general system support for other models. Now the forklift journey really begins!

Steering Wheel works in VR and non-VR mode (btw - in the menu, the steering wheel is detected as a gamepad).



[h3]πŸ₯½ Virtual Reality mode + ANYTHING[/h3]
We listened to many of your voices - you often wanted to combine controlling various controllers (including steering wheels, gamepads, mouse, keyboard) with wearing VR goggles on your head. We have good news: You can now play Best Forklift Operator this way - but we also want to emphasize that this is a beta version solution.

The multitude of configurations and necessary tests mean that we cannot currently provide something that will support each hardware configuration. The game will start in this mode, but not every hardware (computer + headset) will work properly.

The chances of it working properly are similar to the chance that you will get bugs, but knowing that we will be able to satisfy at least some of the players, we decided to add such a feature in this update. We'd love everything to work perfectly right away.

At present, however, it is not possible for us to further refine this solution. We ask for your understanding and we hope that most of you will be able to enjoy BFO exactly the way you want.



[h3]⌨️ Key Binding Presets + User Presets [/h3]
As the name suggests - we have added new versions of the controls preset to the game. Thanks to them, it will be easier for you to find the control method that will be the most suitable for you. And if that turned out to be not enough, you will assign functions to specific buttons yourself.

You will now find in the game three presets for the gamepad (and a fourth for customization), and three presets for the keyboard (and the fourth one for customization).

We hope that thanks to this Best Forklift Operator will become more accessible to everyone.

Our dear friends in warehouses and forklifts around the world - we want to thank you again for your commitment to Best Forklift Operator.

The first update is live and brings you some of the things you really cared about. The game now offers support for HTC Vive (Wands), and Valve Index (Knuckles) goggles & controllers! This means that even more people will be able to try how BFO performs in VR (and we know from many of you that this is a great, immersive experience).

In addition, the game now supports new, higher display resolutions (above full HD), and we have introduced a more intuitive, user-friendly pointer to the VR version. We also improved the issues that made the game crash at first for some users.

The first thing we would like to address is THAT IT WILL BE A LONG READ. But bear with us, as we have a lot to say and discuss and we do everything in our power to be as transparent as the air. We are fully aware of many "stuck in EA forever" or other, much more dramatic, cases. Hence we plan ahead, and try to work as close as possible, with our players. Now, sit back and have a read :)

Before we started working on Best Forklift Operator, we had a rather clear vision of what the game should be, how should it play and what should it have. From the Day 1, our heads were spinning with the ideas and possibilities.

But also, we were aware, that not everything we hoped for, can be implemented upon the release of Early Access. And it's not even about production, budgets or time restraints. It's about full awareness, that handful of people can provide only so many perspectives, and that when you are the creator of something - your views and opinions, might become biased.

Hence the Early Access. So we can interact with the community and join forces with you - to create something awesome for everyone, not just us. To cross-check what's important for us vs what's dear to you.

And I dare to say, knowing it is not a perfect score, it appears we... mostly delivered.

But you - wow - you guys DELIVERED a looooot more. With capital all letters.

Past 7 days we've been working around the clock. Talking to all of you. Checking reviews, discord, forums, refund notes, social media, comments, PMs, and DMs.

Everything has been recorded, categorized, archived, and sorted. Then put into a sheet, then put into another with filtering, then in another one with commentary and analysis.

From the Day 1 - we had a clear Roadmap. But also an awareness that we might have to adjust it after the release of Early Access.
The good news are: 80-90% of your expectations vs our initial Roadmap - matched.
What did not - was the priorities.

We wanted to focus on adding more content to the game, but you turned our eyes to many other aspects and so - we are in the process of shifting our focus and reordering the Roadmap.

(This one is supposed to be less cringy. No? Oh. Ok...)

From over hundreds of reports, broken down into two categories, we came up with this:

- Being able to rebind the controls on controllers and HOTAS
- Support for other Virtual Reality headgears (Valve Index, HTC Vive & others)
- Horizontal shift for forklift

- Support for Ultra-Wide monitors, multi-monitor setup, and higher resolutions
- More missions/maps
- Better cargo and vehicle physics
- An option for "arcade" reverse gear
- Sandbox mode
- Adjust the placement of the gearbox to avoid accidental interactions
- Better/more realistic audio for vehicles
- More camera options
- Being able to play in VR but with controller/HOTAS instead of VR controllers
- Multiplayer
- Support for OpenVR
- Support for non-standard keyboards such as AZERTY
- Being able to adjust vehicles mirrors

- Rare crashing upon launch/stuck at the title screen
- Missing virtual hands in VR mode
- The game is lagging on some devices.
- Controls randomly switch between connected devices.
- Reflection in mirrors is not dynamic in VR

Those lists are not complete and for the time being - we had to get rid of a couple of issues if the author was only one individual. E.g having AI NPCs walking around the warehouse, and being able to get killed... yeaaaaa, no, sorry ;D

As mentioned above, our old, internal one - is outdated now. So it is kind of pointless to share it at this point in time. In the next couple of days, we will have many meetings and brainstorming sessions to come up with a brand new one - strongly influenced by yourr feedback from past 7 days.

Mind you - adjusting project Roadmap is no trivial task. You cannot just go and start from the top and move to the bottom. Some features take hours to implement, some other days, some different weeks and months, and some - are out of reach. The catch is to put everything in an order that takes many factors into the equation and keep the whole thing both doable and steady.
But don't worry! We got this. 😎
