F1® 22 News

Fans of Formula 1®️ will finally be able to get a taste of the action during F1®️ 22’s Free Play Weekend*, 20th – 24th October. Players will have the chance hit the track, take the wheel and earn their place at the top of the podium.

In addition to the Free Play Weekend, players of F1®️ 22 will receive the new My Team Icon Mika Häkkinen for free. Players will be able to claim him by logging into their in-game inbox and adding the iconic and championship-winning driver to their My Team lineup from 10pm BST on Oct 17 until Nov 7th.**

Furthermore, all racers will also receive free US-inspired content, to celebrate the sport’s return to the Circuit of the Americas for the United States Grand Prix™️, 21st – 23rd October. The Stars and Stripes livery, helmet, race suit, and gloves will be available in-game from 17th October and can be claimed via the in-game inbox.

F1®️ 22 players will also receive “The Griddy”, the dance craze that took the US sports scene by storm. The dance finally makes its way into F1®️ 22 for all player-created drivers and is sure take podium celebrations to an entirely new level. Available to redeem in game for free from October 17th.

Between 20th October and 1st November, Steam players who purchase the full game will receive up to 50% off the Standard and Deluxe Edition of F1®️ 22. Those who play F1®️ 22 during the Free Play Weekend and decide to purchase the full game will keep all their claimed items and progress. New and existing fans will also be able to enter the Daniel Ricciardo’s challenge, exclusive to F1®️ 22.†

The Flying Finn
Making a surprise debut in F1®️ 22, two-time World Champion Mika Häkkinen will be available for all players as a My Team Icon.

F1®️ 22 Champions Edition players can ignite old rivalries whilst competing against existing Icons including Michael Schumacher, who Häkkinen named as his biggest rival.

Mika Häkkinen will be redeemable in-game for a limited time. You’ll need to log-in and check your in-game messages between October 17 and November 7 in order to add him to your game.


Fly the Flag for the United States Grand Prix™️
Ahead of the Austin Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, we’re delivering a customisable Stars and Stripes livery so you can dress for the occasion.

This eye-catching livery can be redeemed by heading to your in-game messages from Oct 17.



Do The Griddy!
Finally, we’ve got one more freebie for you. The Griddy, which has taken US sports celebrations to an entirely new level, makes its way into F1®️ 22. We managed to get a couple of familiar faces to recreate it too.

The Griddy can be applied to your custom driver as their podium celebration after you’ve redeemed it through your in-game messages.

F2™ 2022 Season Update has Arrived
Emulate your heroes and dive into the challenging discipline of Formula 2™ - with the 2022 season, team, and driver roster - available now for all players.

The F2™ season may already have wrapped up with Felipe Drugovich taking the crown ahead of the final race in the calendar but you can re-write history as one of the 22 drivers on the grid including rookies Logan Sargeant and Jack Doohan, in a 14-round season that includes F2™ Sprint.

Over half of the current F1® grid have taken part in F2™ at some point in their racing careers. See for yourself what it takes in Career, Grand Prix, Time Trial and Multiplayer modes.

The Future is Here
Unveiled and raced at the Singapore and Japan Grands Prix, McLaren’s new Future Mode livery is available for a limited time in-game, replacing the original 2022 MCL36 design.

You can race in this futuristic livery for roughly a month before the livery changes back to the standard one. Then, from December, the livery will be available for download for free for use on your player car.

Podium Pass Series 3
The third series of Podium Pass gets underway on October 12, with 30 brand new Free and VIP tiers for you to work your way through. Here’s a selection of just some of the items that are available for you to unlock.
