As you prepare to embark on your perilous journey to freedom, we'd like to introduce you to the key characters that populate the world of Back to the Dawn.

[h2]Thomas the Journalist [/h2]

First up is Thomas, but he's not your average journalist. He’s a fearless truth-seeker driven by an unwavering sense of justice. His determination to expose the truth behind each story, even at the expense of his personal relationships, makes him a formidable investigative force. But it has also earned him a fair share of adversaries.

When Thomas's investigation into an illegal sewage dumping case uncovers the town mayor's involvement, he quickly gets framed for a crime he never committed and gets thrown into the Boulderton Prison. Now, Thomas must devise a plan to escape jail and clear his name by exposing the truth behind the conspiracy that has incarcerated him!

Choose from 3 Unique Profiles!

You will play as Thomas - the game’s main playable character. Choose from 3 backgrounds, each with their own unique traits. Be a charming broadcast journalist with a gift for the gab, a sneaky undercover journalist who is good at crafting, or a hardened war correspondent who has seen combat.

Choose carefully as each past occupation offers you different ways and skills to help you survive and hopefully escape the perils of prison life. Along the way, you will discover Thomas's resilience, resourcefulness, and hidden talents as you plot your escape and seek exoneration!

[h2]Reed the Devoted Lawyer[/h2]
Up next is Reed, an adept attorney with his own legal practice, who has been Thomas's faithful friend since high school. Discovering the news of Thomas's incarceration, Reed has dedicated himself to his friend's case, striving to expose the deceit that resulted in Thomas's unjust imprisonment.


As you progress in the game, you will grow to admire Reed's smarts and loyalty. Operating outside the prison walls, he employs his sharp investigative skills to create innovative methods to support Thomas with vital information and resources. Together, they form a formidable team in their quest for truth and Thomas’s liberation!

[h2]The Gang Leaders of Boulderton Prison[/h2]
Within the walls of Boulderton Prison, intricate power structures and tacit regulations dictate everyday existence. Three imposing gangs, each headed by a formidable leader, rule the prison pecking order. These bosses direct their devoted members and oversee exclusive resources and prospects within their domains. As you maneuver through the unfamiliar terrain of prison life, exercise extreme care when selecting your affiliations, as clashing with an ill-suited boss could spell catastrophe and put your entire escape strategy at risk!

[h3]Alex the Lion[/h3]

Alex, the cunning leader of the Sharp Tooth Gang, is a master tactician. His gang controls the basketball court and TV room, preying on the weak and exploiting every opportunity. Joining forces with Alex may provide access to precious assets, but one must consider the potential consequences of such an alliance.

[h3]Jumbo the Elephant[/h3]

Jumbo, the unyielding commander of the Big Foot Gang, is a ruthless enforcer surrounded by hardened felons. They run Boulderton Prison’s weight pit and its underground boxing matches, providing refuge for those drawn to displays of physical might. To enter Jumbo's inner circle, one must demonstrate their resilience and willingly accept a world of savagery.

[h3]Caesar the Ape[/h3]

Caesar, the enigmatic boss of the Black Claw Gang, is a shrewd strategist and kingpin of the prison's general building and loan sharking operations. His network of criminals has a hand in every underhanded transaction within Boulderton Prison. Gaining Caesar's confidence could lead to assistance with visitation rights and invaluable intel.

Each boss boasts their own distinct personality, motivations, and agendas. You must carefully navigate these complex relationships, weighing the potential benefits and risks of aligning with each gang leader!

Over the past few months, we have received a ton of fantastic feedback and suggestions from our community. Today, we would like to share some of the development progress and updates we have made with Back to the Dawn!

[h2]Sizzling New Kitchen Minigames![/h2]

We have heard your desire for more minigames and activities during the day, and we've got you covered! We are introducing brand new kitchen activities! Like the laundry room, the kitchen will be an additional work option for you to experience prison jobs during the day.

There are a wide variety of minigames in the kitchen to experience, such as washing dishes, peeling potatoes and pickling cucumbers that can be played via dice rolls! If you have enough strength stats, you can even try your hand at transporting ingredients.

Prepare meals for your fellow inmates!

In addition, we are currently developing cooking mini games for the kitchen, where you can cook over a dozen types of food! Our goal is to capture the feeling of excitement as you prepare various dishes during a prison mealtime to feed your fellow inmates. To achieve this, we are currently designing various types of mini-games from the ground up to let you immerse yourselves into roleplaying as a prison cook!

However, if you thought you would get a free meal from working in the kitchen, think again! Prisoners must be careful not to get caught stealing or cheating by the watchful chef, or face the consequences. If you are willing to take the risk, there are secret opportunities for you to sneak into the kitchen cellar to steal food, or who knows, you might even discover a new escape path in the kitchen.🤫

We have heard your feedback and we're excited to share that we are currently working to include achievements in the game!

As achievement hunters ourselves, we understand how much replayability achievements can add to a game. And with multiple endings in Back to the Dawn, we want to add loads of fun easter eggs for you to discover through our achievements!
