Gambit! News

Gambit is about to become better than ever!

Hey everyone,

As you may be aware, we moved Gambit!'s release date to Q1, 2023 - late Q1, 2023 to be Frank with you. (pun intended)

But don't worry! We're making the best out of this extra time!

We're keeping everything Gambit currently has (duh): the action packed single player/Co-op story, the gazillion unlockable weapons, skins, attachments, custom masks, charms, the graffiti boards, the hilarious and unfiltered banter, the hidden areas and minigames, the 'Municipal Mayhem' PvP event, the achievements, the killer soundtrack AND we're going to top it all off with a never-before-seen zombie expansion!

That's right, we're going to include a unique zombie mode, doubling the game's playtime, and quadrupling its fun factor!
Don't worry - zombies, or as we call them: 'Consumers', have a perfect place in Gambit's world, and won't be completely out of place. ;)

Besides the zombie mode (which is already in development), we're improving every aspect of the game as well as adding extra elements to make the gameplay even more satisfying.
Developing games WITH our community has always been our jam, and now we're incorporating even more community feedback into Gambit - we'll be gathering feedback from a tight group of Beta testers during the Holidays so we can jump back to work in January with a handful of valuable community feedback!

---

We wish you all a happy and safe Holiday Season - we'll soon be back in full force!
Cheers,
-XREAL Games Team

Gambit's release date being moved to Q1, 2023

Hey everyone,

We’ve made a last-minute decision to move Gambit’s release date to Q1, 2023.

We couldn't quite get the PCVR version up to the standards we wanted to (we've been working on it day and night until the last minute), and since Gambit was always meant to be a cross-play title, we decided that we’d rather spend another month or two pimping it than to release the PCVR
version half-baked.
We want everyone to be able to access and enjoy Gambit at the same time regardless of the platform of one’s choice.

But wait, we have good news too! We’ve been working on a super secret Gambit zombie DLC as well that was meant to be released a few months after release, almost doubling the playtime and bringing new elements to Gambit’s already hectic gameplay - now that we’ll have time to pimp the base game out even more, we’re going to include the whole zombie shenanigans in the release version!

With all that in mind, we’re shooting for a Q1 2023 release. It's really unfortunate that we had to make this decision so last-minute, but we feel like it was the right one.

Our Discord server, as well as Gambit’s Twitter account and Steam store page are all open to anyone who would like to know more about the game or would like to get sneak peeks and behind the scenes straight from the devs.

We’ve also made a “launch” trailer, or as we now prefer to call it: a delay trailer. (:
On a serious note, we hope you like it - the next one will incorporate our home-brewed zombies as well!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

It’s important to note that Gambit has been, is, and will be developed by a separate team within XREAL Games, its development and the delay has no effect on Zero Caliber’s development.

Something something delayed game good, rushed game bad. On a serious note, Gambit’s gonna be even more awesome than it is now, so stay tuned, and keep an eye on our social platforms for further development goodies!

Thank you all for the ongoing support, we can’t wait to let Gambit loose!
Sincerely,

-Dan & the whole XREAL Team

Get ready to rock and roll!

Road to Gambit's release - Graffiti!

Hey Rascals,

The world’s about to end, and you can give it a final push. Join the Sand Lizards, four misfits out to get rich or kill anyone else trying!
Or... take a break from wreaking havoc and release your inner Picasso on the dedicated graffiti boards!

Graffiti panels can be found in your base as well as scattered around wherever your journey takes you - they become available after you kill everyone in an area, just because, y'know, creating in peace is much more desirable than being surrounded by bastards trying to end you. (Except when those bastards are your friends drawing penises on your masterpiece. Yea, that totally didn't happen a thousand times during development.)

After creating the new Mona Lisa, you can just press the screenshot button on the side of the graffitit board to save it for eternity!
Oh wait, do you think the typo in the previous sentence was a mistake? It totally wasn't. Graffitit. Because graffiti boobies. (.)(.) Get it?

Aanyway.. Let's see those wishlist numbers go up!

Gambit's release is right around the corner, stay tuned for more sneak peeks and feature reveals!

Road to Gambit's release - Meet the Crew!

Hey Rascals,

The world’s about to end, and you can give it a final push. Join the Sand Lizards, four misfits out to get rich or kill anyone else trying!

In Gambit!, you'll be able to play as one of the 4 main characters: Frank, Udo, Cody or Kevin.
Each of our 4 misfits has a.. peculiar personality to say the least, and a team dynamic second to none! Did we mention the special weapons? Oh yeah.. get ready to rock and roll!
FRANK
Frank Larkin is a tough guy, short spoken, and highly superstitious. His promising sports-career was broken and consumed by a world of gangs and crime - he joined and worked for a warlord as a hitman for years. His relation to firearms is almost maniacal.
His special weapon? A freakin' chainsaw!
UDO
Udo Haider became friends with the team as a German exchange student. He’s a pragmatic scholar, like jokes but doesn’t really get them. Occasionally he uses complex German terminology with no equivalent in English. He’s the team’s bomb specialist, and the wielder of a poisonous crossbow.
CODY
Cody Swanson is a tinkerer, can fix anything. He’s the team’s scout and tracker. Played in the same team with Frank early on, though not as successfully. He’s easy-going and a lot of fun to be around.. the giving end of his explosive bow.
KEVIN
Kevin Conroy is.. just Kevin. Self-consciously stupid, c*ck-surely unoffendable, a true jester, a helpless kleptomaniac and a spoiled brat. Ex-coder to IJI, he's the team’s security-system “expert”.
He's boasting a pair of heavily modified combat defibrillator.

You might be wondering: "Why does everyone wear a mask in Gambit?" Well, we're glad you asked! Stay tuned to get answer in next week's devblog post! ;)
