[h2]Shadow of the Guild is nearly here: just under one month of a wait left for the release![/h2]

Steam Next Fest brought the game attention well deserved with thousands of viewers on streams.

“Luckily I didn’t see the number of viewers… I thought I was alone so I just kept having fun on the stream lol!”

said the developer of Shadow of the Guild, Robin Buisson from the Guild Studios after his nearly three hours broadcast during Steam’s October 2022 Next Fest. Over a hundred thousand unique viewers and nearly ten thousand concurrent viewers brought Shadow of the Guild some well-deserved demo-enthusiast attention.





Guild Studios has been making the beat ‘em up / RPG / story-driven Metroidvania for a long time since it originally started as a saga of books, penned by the lead developer of the game! The French book series called The Rain Merchant’s Guild tells the story of the said guild, which controls the clouds, rain, and thus the water available to the people.

[h3]Story
[/h3]
Shadow of the Guild sets up a premise for the books and lets you play as one of the Guild’s Shadows, Yarán. A shadow is part of the Guild’s spies who are trained to be warriors, mages, and assassins. Yarán receives a mission to solve how the evil Emperor Gethro III has learned to make clouds himself and is trying to steal the domination of rain and clouds from the Guild.

[h3]Gameplay
[/h3]
Shadow of the Guild is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up with an RPG-like progression. When you go further in your mission you will be able to choose which skills you want to develop. You can choose from the paths of warrior, mage, or assassin, each focusing on different skill trees.

The actual gameplay lasts for about 5 to 7 hours depending on how deep you want to dive into the story. And why wouldn’t you, it truly is a magnificent story.

The Guild Studio is also promising a lot of upcoming updates on their roadmap, including speedrunner features on their first update following the release, more content, and missions, and they’re hinting something about slaying a horde of pirates…

Shadow of the Guild is a story of Yarán, one of the finest spies in the Guild of the Rain Merchants, who is tasked to find out the mysteries and treacheries that are happening in the lands of Emperor Gethro III.

The game is a mix of beat-em-ups and infiltration games, blending RPG-like progression, and side-scrolling metroidvanias into the mix. The unique art of the game and its cinematic cutscenes make the story immersive and exciting to follow along.



Your choices you make with your own skill tree will make the game different for all players. You can focus all your powers to the path of a mage to use potions, lightnings, and other magic to beat the enemy forces. Or move along on the path of an assassin to execute sneaky kills to unsuspecting villains. Or go all-in and push through the guards and bosses as a powerful warrior.

Shadow of the Guild is coming out in 2022, but now is your chance to try your hands on its demo! The demo contains nearly an hour of gameplay, but the full game takes about five to seven hours to play through.

We're pleased to announce that our first public beta test is now live. You'll be able to experience about one hour of the gameplay we have so far.

This playtest will run from now until end of September.



[h2]What to Expect

Although Shadow Of The Guild is coming along nicely, it's not complete yet. Most of the gameplay features are in place and working, but we still have a lot of content to add.

All that said, we feel like we have a decent early game experience here, and we hope this playtest will offer you quite a few hours of entertainment.
