We’re listening to the feedback that the community have been providing us about the Craftlings demo. With that in mind we have given the demo an update today.



This update includes:

• Added Japanese Translation
  
• Increased amount of starting Craftlings for Level 1 from 1 to 3
  
• Bug Fixes

The demo will be removed from Steam on 3 February 2025, so you’ve got a few weeks left to check out a taster of Craftlings and to compete in the Winter Challenge Map.

The festive season is fast approaching and it’s never too early to start celebrating. 🎄🥳

What better way to get into the spirits of the season than playing our Winter Challenge Map and sending some snowmen into space? Let me explain.

[h2]What is a Challenge Map? [/h2]

Alongside the main campaign of Craftlings we will be including Challenge Maps for players to test their skills and achieve specific objectives within a one-hour time limit. These maps DO NOT have a save option so you really have to test yourself to achieve the highest score you can for the global leaderboards.

We will be adding Challenge Maps to Craftlings regularly as part of an ongoing rotation, so keep your eyes peeled and the demo installed for some fun surprises.

The first Challenge Map for Craftlings is the Winter Challenge Map ❄⛄.

[h2]What is the Winter Challenge? [/h2]

As we mentioned earlier, the main objective of the Winter Challenge Map is to build snowmen and send them into space.



Build a firework rocket and launch as many snowmen into space as you can before the time runs out, sounds simple...right? Well, you’ve still got to build and gather resources to get to that point, so you’ll really put those skills you’ve learned in the campaign to the test.

The Winter Challenge Map will be available until the end of December and we even have a special channel on our Discord server specifically to share the results of your efforts, so don’t be shy, show us how well you did!

Following feedback we've received from the community, we've made some updates to the Craftlings Demo, including adding leaderboards!:

• Added Camera Movement to RMB, adding new input system
  
• Moved the buying functionality from the bottom bar to LMB
  
• Added a ladder icon
  
• Added size indicator to building widget
  
• Added translations for "size" to building widget
  
• Added steamworks API plugin for demo
  
• Added winter challenge leaderboard to demo
  
• Added time leader board to Octopus Level
  
• Added time leader board to Lighthouse Level
  
• Changed tutorial for buying to show that it works with both buttons (LMB)/(RMB)

• Updated tutorial to reflect changes in buying functionality
  
• New icons for pickaxe and hammer to better distinguish them
  
• Corrected typos and grammatical errors in the game text
  
• All languages have been updated
  
• Changed Lighthouse costs for new players (Stone +2, Hammer -2)

It’s been a very busy week!!!

Not only did we change the name of our game from The Settlings to Craftlings, announced our partnership with Raw Fury and showcased our brand-new trailer at the PC Gaming Show but we also updated our demo on Steam! 🥳🎉

For long time followers of the game, and new players who are just curious, let us tell you about the demo and what has been updated, improved and what is new 👀

• 2 unique maps forming part of the single player campaign
  
• Implemented an improved progression system allowing you to unlock new items as you progress through the demo
  
• Removed the Bank Challenge Map 💵– thank you for playing!
  
• Added a new Winter Challenge Map ❄⛄🚀 - make sure you check that out!
  
• Upgraded the objective of each level to have clearer guidance, while still letting you find their own solution to complete the objectives.
  
• Visuals have had a full overhaul and there's a new pixel art style and new building animations to bring the world to life.
  
• Implemented updates to the UI and changes to the way you interact and interface with the game
  
• Renewed mechanics and adjustments to the way you play
  
• Added a completely new way to gather stones
  
• Introduced drones for automated item collections
  
• Introduced a chest for resource storage
  
• Reworked dynamite 🧨: You can now use dynamite to remove items from the world and add them back into your inventory.
  
• Introduced a new economy system for tool production. 🔨⛏
  
• Added a floating barrel with small rewards. Listen for the cry of the seagull to know when the barrel is arriving.
  
• Introduced an additional option to prevent all resources being consumed by buildings, allowing resources to pass to other areas of the settlement. This means you don’t have to manually close and reopen them.
  
• New ladder placement system with placement preview. No more misplaced ladders!
  
• Assorted QOL updates and bug fixes.

Greetings all,

We’ve got a lot to talk about! First, we have a new name, logo and Key Art to share with you. Just announced during the PC Gamer Most Wanted Showcase, Craftlings (formerly known as The Settlings) will launch in 2025 on Steam from ARIANO Games. We even have a new Developer logo!

You’ll notice right away Craftlings has an updated visual style with renewed pixel art, updated animations, an improved UI, and a lot more going on underneath the hood. We’ll talk more about that soon.

Another significant development - we’ve signed with Raw Fury! We’re honored to be working with the publisher to help optimise and improve the Craftlings experience and aim to reach new heights with the game when we release next year. This is a huge milestone for Craftlings and one we’re very excited about.



While we wait for launch, you can now check out a brand new Craftlings demo! This features all of the visual changes and developments we’ve highlighted above, but also includes a very special, time limited Winter Challenge Map available during Rawcember, Raw Fury’s month of announcements and activities.

The Winter Themed Challenge Map can be accessed from the main menu and is available to try right now. Set in our Winter Themed Biome, the demo features updates to the Craftlings, their environment and buildings, as well as giving you new things to try.



Your goal for this Challenge Map? Simply, build snowmen and launch them to the moon in the true festive spirit! Let us know how you get on and post your best scores and reactions in our Discord Server.
