Hotfix #3 | Month 1 Update

  • [p]Backup Save System: The game now automatically creates a backup save every 25 minutes (max 10 backups). You can rollback to these if your main save is corrupted or soft-locked. Access this via Manage Save Data menu.[/p]
  • [p]Save Game Naming: Simplified save file names (no special characters); Names are shorter to fix issues caused by file names becoming to long for some devices.[/p]
  • [p]Save Name Auditing: Long or invalid save names are now automatically corrected to conform to new system.[/p]
  • [p]Save Copy Fixes: Copying an original save multiple times during different play sessions no long causes new copies to overwrite existing copies. New save names are now unique.[/p]
  • [p]Offline Achievements: Now properly tracked.[/p]

  • [p]Keybinds on PC: "M" opens map, "Esc" opens Exit Menu. "Tab" still returns to your last visited tab.[/p]
  • [p]Panning Map: Smoother and no longer clamped.[/p]
[p][/p][h3]🕹️ GAMEPLAY & UI BUG FIXES[/h3]
  • [p]D-Pad Input Adjustments: D-pad up/down are no longer zooms the camera as these inputs are mapped to Fat Travel Home and Photomode. Zooming remains a PC-only feature (mouse wheel).[/p]
  • [p]Pressure Plate Fixes: Now reset properly if associated objects despawn or reset, fixing several soft-lock issues.[/p]
  • [p]Lava River Platforms: now spawn properly when you load game already in proximity.[/p]
  • [p]Destructible Ram Door: Now retains its broken state after being destroyed.[/p]
  • [p]Stormy Home Key Fix: No longer unlocked by unlocking Stormvale Portal.[/p]
  • [p]Tomb of Heilda: Stone elevator fixed.[/p]
  • [p]Ashlands Snake Shrine: puzzles fixed.[/p]
  • [p]Statue of Eona in Fox Island Cave: No longer overrides Home location when activated if main story is completed.[/p]
  • [p]Map Waypoint Fix: Waypoints now correctly place on grave icons.[/p]

[h3]🔧 OPTIMIZATIONS[/h3]
  • [p]Reflection Quality Fix (Low Settings): PC visuals now look as intended. Low settings can now enjoy better visuals with no performance impact.[/p]
  • [p]Adjust World Position Offset Disable Distance 100s of game actors (Hazel Bushes, various plague meshes, flags, etc). These actors would invalidate shadow cache a extreme distances.[/p]
  • [p]Static mobility now applied to non-moving components (chests base, door frames, standing stones, etc.). Prevents Shadow cache invalidation.[/p]
  • [p]Static mobility now applied to non-moving actors (Destructible pottery, Audio/trigger/blocking volumes, VFX, Spline paths (wisps, rivers, slides),Flag poles, hero skeletons, etc, etc). Actor that need mobility override this. Prevents Shadow cache invalidation.[/p]
  • [p]Rogue and hidden foliage cleaned up to improve performance.[/p][p][/p]

  • [p]Pine Forest Rock and other Misc Meshes: Now has proper collision.[/p]

  • [p]Skylight and Dungeon Hole Fixes: Closed off areas accessible via late-game abilities.[/p]

  • [p]Unique NPC Foxes: No more unintended tail glow during the burning village scene.[/p]
  • [p]Grimnir Encounter Visuals: Light particles and FX improved.[/p]
  • [p]Spirit Antlers & Fox Tail Embers: Now match your Light Essence colour for better visual consistency.[/p]

  • [p]Various music stinger and layers that were broken on PC are fixed. This include "Kulning" vocals in Misthaven.[/p]
  • [p]Mossy Home Portal & Outro Music polish.[/p]
  • [p]Volume Slider SFX: Now affects raccoon and tortoise sounds.[/p]
  • [p]Console Music Bug: Fixed audio cutting in and out.[/p]

[h3]⚔️ GRIMNIR ENCOUNTER BALANCING[/h3][p]General[/p]
  • [p]Grimnir's plague projectile cooldown increased (2.5s → 4s).[/p]
  • [p]Knockback reduced by 50% and removed during dashes and targeted jumps.[/p]
  • [p]Ram Phase:[/p]
  • [p]Grimnir's Melee cooldown increased to 4s.[/p]
  • [p]Lightning visuals now match Cleansed Ram.[/p]
  • [p]Grimnir's Plague "Cage" resized and given a visual upgrade.[/p]
[p]Sun Wolf Phase[/p]
  • [p]Roots now deal only Thorn damage and no longer cause rapid multiple hits.[/p]
  • [p]Knockback behaviour adjusted.[/p]
[p]Moon Wolf Phase[/p]
  • [p]Platforms now appear when gliding or walking underneath with Sunken Rune.[/p]

  • [p]9 fireflies instead of 3. Platforming redesigned to be a recovery/breather phase.[/p]

  • [p]Stag Temple Gate: Spirit vines now activate after unlocking Spirit Form Rune. This help guide player to use Spirit Form and progress in this area before leaving.[/p]
  • [p]Glide Cavern: Slight redesign to better guide player at start.[/p]
  • [p]Light Essence Icons & Descriptions: Updated to better reflect lore and Guardian themes.[/p][p]

[h3]What is ghost gear?[/h3]
Ghost gear is fishing gear that has been lost or abandoned at sea. It’s a deadly menace to whales, dolphins and other marine life.
When a whale or dolphin gets tangled in it, it can kill them in the most horrific way, by preventing them from getting to the surface to breathe. Or they can carry it for days, weeks or even months suffering a slow and painful death as it cuts into their skin, restricts their movement and hampers their ability to hunt and feed.
But it’s difficult and expensive for fishers and other ocean users to dispose of gear they find at sea, or even to responsibly get rid of their own gear at the end of its life.
Did you know that about 1/3 of marine litter found in European seas is discarded fishing gear? That's estimated to be over 11,000 tonnes entering the sea each year!
It is a massive problem and so WDC are working on some innovative solutions.

Spirit Of The North 2 | What's Coming?

We just wanted to check in to let you know working hard behind the scenes.

There’s a lot currently in progress, and while not everything is ready to show just yet, we wanted to give you a quick peek behind the curtain.


[h3]Backup Saves[/h3]
One of the bigger features we’re focused on right now is backup saves - this will let players roll back their save file in case something goes wrong (power outages, etc.). It’s been a common request, and we're making good progress on it!

[h3]Soundtrack[/h3]
The official stand-alone soundtrack is also coming together beautifully. It’s still a few weeks out, but it’s getting close, and we think it’ll be definitely worth the wait!

[h3]Fixes[/h3]
We’ve been working through many of environmental fixes: we're patching between 5 to 50 issues a day! That includes miss aligned meshes, collision bugs, holes in map, etc. Thank you for reporting these when you find them!

We’re also adding key binds for specific menu tabs, like pressing “M” to open the map directly. This was one of the most requested features, and we’re happy to be implementing it.

There is a bug that disable reflections when the player uses Low Settings. It honestly looks horrendous and was not intended. If you've been playing and everything has a strange white glossiness to it, this is why. We've fixed it and it is queued for the next update. This will make LOW quality look like a 100x better in many situations.

Hotfix #2 | Week 2 Update

[h2]Greetings Guardians! 🦊 [/h2]

We’re excited to share that Hotfix #1.3, CL 12895, now live on PC, with the console update arriving in just a few days! This patch brings a host of important fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and community-requested changes. Let’s dive in:


[h3]🔧List of fixes[/h3]
Collection Removed At End Of Game. Fixed issue that caused players to lose their collection(Relics and Keys) after finishing game if they died before reaching a Statue of Eona.
Save Game Repair. We implemented a script that audits and repairs your save file that runs automatically when you select a save game to play. Currently this includes fixes for those who's Relics and Keys were deleted at the end of their game. The game will re-add them when you relaunch your save game. This script also attempts to re-add your Raven companion if you have a Glide Rune but no Raven.
Landscape and Cliff meshing around Misthaven Northern gate. Waterfall and pond added to prevent players from accessing Highlands with a torch.
Jump Gate in North Misthaven now uses standing stone for activation(requires spirit form).
Stag Temple now traps player inside to force them to use Spirit Form. Many players were obtaining Spirit Form and just leaving.
Progress Lost issue #1. The Ram Encounter would continue to block autosave if the player abandoned it. This lead to player losing progress if they continued to play for a long time and then dying.
Progress Lost issues #2. Some puzzle involving hiding wisps and cutscenes would not stop blocking autosaves. This lead to player losing progress if they continued to play for a long time and then dying.
Removed rogue lever in front of Bear Guardian Temple.
Various fixes to Fox Island behavior and appearance when returning after end of game. ie Killbox under wooden bridge will not be present. Also plugged hole leading to portion of cave that is intended to be inaccessible.
Lighting changes for Lumen on Xbox Series S
Mosswood Foliage Cleanup.
Added ext triggers for some Stormvale structures.
Internet Time Events now uses our own website. This should fix the issue of events like the Light Weaver not being blocked in countries like Russia. We will continue to test and work on this and thank you for you ongoing patience.
Added Bear Roar SFX to end encounter.
Added missing lava SFX
Misc fixes for environment holes and and misaligned meshes.
