Characters - Part 2!

What's that, you say? You want to hear more about the rest of our character lineup at launch? Welllll alright then! If the likes of Duck Anderson and Moose Salto aren't tickling your fancy, that's ok. Because these friends are proficient in the likes of swordplay and invisibility.

We thought that might get your attention!

  • Beware of Little Lars's deceptive charm, as such proficiency in handling explosives surely comes at a cost. In a past life, they honed their craft as expert bomb defusers. Being resistant to explosions opens the door to becoming a bit reckless with them.

Passive: Thick Coat - Explosion resistant.

Recommended cards: Bomb Belt, Sticky Bomb, Punch-R

  • Started working on their dad's fishing boat when they were young and hasn't stopped working since. Hates working overtime but does it for the pay. They long for peace and solitude and have a secret dream to be a lighthouse keeper. Starting your matches with Stevie's powerful custom Boira is always useful, especially if you boost it even further!

Passive: Classic - Start each round with a custom Boira 9

Recommended cards: More Accuracy, Steel Bullets, Big Mag

  • Ever heard the story of the Hare and the Tortoise? That was all bull because Haru won that race by a mile! Being able to run super fast is a blessing. Add a couple of cards to your deck and you'll break the sound barrier in no time!

Passive: Runner - You move faster.

Recommended cards: Move Faster, Energy Drink, Invisible

  • Sable is a racing legend. They have a Gas-Gas bike they use for commuting and a vintage Ossa racer bike they have been repairing as a hobby. Occasionally plays bass with Spike when they're in town. Sable is the one that brings a sword to a gunfight! Their unearthly reflexes make blocking bullets a cakewalk.

Passive: Katana Lover - Start each round with a Katana.

Recommended cards: Move Faster, Double Jump, Empty Mag

  • You know those classic movie scenes where a person takes a seat at a table and discreetly aims their pistol at someone, hidden under the table? Well, that's Myk's style, except they use a machine pistol. The Brasshopper is a wild weapon. The fast rate of fire makes it lethal in most players' hands.

Passive: Brasslover - Start each round with the Brasshopper.

Recommended cards: Big Mag, Big Head, Bullet Time

Welp, you met our starting characters but there will be a bunch more to come! In fact, the next character drop is one that has been hotly requested in our forums ;) More on that in June when we get talking about our first big expansion!
Mayor’s Message
Hey folks, it’s me, the Mayor of Friendtown. When I approved the budget for this newsletter, they promised me space to write a column every week. If there’s one thing I love, it’s the chance to talk directly to all of you, my dear citizens.

As you may have heard, there’s available space at Buddy's Boulevard for new local businesses to thrive! As a matter of fact, I’m proud to announce I’ve had some very promising talks already about a Laundromat. Until next time, that’s been me, the Mayor of Friendtown - and you’ve been reading the Mayor’s Message. Thank you.

Game Update 1.0.1!

Howdy, Friends!

It feels like both an eternity and no time has passed since we went live on Tuesday with the game! HUGE thanks to the community for turning up and battling your buds (and soon-to-be besties).

Our first major patch for Friends vs Friends is now live! We'd like to thank all of you for your support and feedback since launch, we hope you enjoy this latest update and the many more to come - we're just getting started.
Changelog

Content & Features
- Level-based Matchmaking
  • Matchmaking now properly takes level into account when searching for a match, which should result in much fairer games. Players who wish to disable this feature are able to. Please let us know if you run into any issues with this system!
- Progression Revamp
  • We've heard your feedback loud and clear, the progression feels too slow. In this patch, we're making a number of changes both to the frequency of rewards, speed of leveling, and introducing a new level cap. These changes should make for a much more satisfying experience. Some of you may see some immediate level-ups as a result of this change, surprise! :)
- Report system
  • You can now report players for suspicious activity on the match aftermath screen by pressing the "!" button in the right corner.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a bug where players could fall outside the map without dying by using the Ice Block card
  • Fixed a freeze when spamming the space bar while opening packs
  • Fixed: a bug where the camera could temporarily become offset when receiving explosion damage

We're working on a meaty update for tomorrow, right here on Steam, so keep your eyes peeled as we release our first of a weekly series we like to call the "Buddy's Bulletin"! We'll cover game updates, and community submissions, and start building out the lore of Friends vs Friends that you've been requesting!

Thanks again and see you on the playing field!

Characters - Part 1!

Hey, hey, it's the post you've all been waiting for... character introductions!

Sure, we've been talking about the hub and matchmaking and betas, but it's also vital to know who you're going to be jumping into battle with, wouldn't ya say?

There are so many characters (and all pretty unique in our ways) we're going to break this up into two parts.

So that's about enough outta me, let's meet the friends. Friends you will fight. So I guess that makes them enemies. Or not. ANYWAY:

  • When DJ Newton isn't busy laying down the latest remix, they're hitting shots from a distance with precision. Increased accuracy lends itself nicely to weapons with high bullet spread, making Newton an excellent pick for players who lean heavily on weapon cards.

Character Power: Reading Glasses - Start each round with increased Accuracy

    Recommended cards: Brasshopper, Boomstick, FK-82

  • Duck Anderson is a well-known character around town who has a knack for always finding whatever they need. The Mayor is allegedly their relative, though the exact connection is top secret. Having access to the Green Herb heals lends itself nicely to aggressive play-styles, as well as more unconventional approaches. Stacking healing and invincibility cards may yield strong results.

Character Power: It's Medicinal - Add a Green Herb card to your hand every turn

Recommended cards: MedKit, Tin Man, Titan

  • Spike is the lead singer and guitarist of a band. They stay up late and sleep in the daytime. Love food but can only find time to eat one meal per day. Their favorite is kebabs or ramen after a good show.

Character Power: Big Bullets - Your bullets deal more damage. Packing an extra punch is an advantage most players are looking for. With Spike, it's a given.

    Recommended cards: Boomstick, Brasshopper, Punch-R

  • Moose is playful, confident, and perfect for players who prefer mobility. Thanks to their Power Legs, Moose benefits strongly from other mobility cards to outclass their rivals. Both close-range and long-range weapons can be sensible choices.

Character Power: Power Legs - Start every round with Double Jump

Recommended cards: Albatross21, Katana, Energy Drink, Move Faster

  • Here's the deal. Donnie puts the B in Badass. It's that simple. Anyone pickin' a fight with them is sure to have an immediate sense of regret. Donnie also happens to be a volunteer Sheriff's deputy on the weekends. Increased health works well in nearly any deck, making Donnie a great all-around pick.

Character Power: Badass - Start each round with increased Health

    Recommended cards: Boomstick, Brasshopper, Punch-R

OK! Stay tuned for the next post that introduces the rest of us lot!
