Would you nominate Vampire Survivors for "Labor of Love" in the Steam Awards?

It's been another crazy year here at poncle working on Vampire Survivors, and as usual it's thanks to you all if we can keep doing that while also having fun!
This year isn't over yet anyway, we still have update 1.8 to release, together with a (very little) extra bit of content that isn't even available in the public beta version yet.

If you think we've done enough, it would be great to get a nomination for "Labor of Love" in the Steam Awards please!
If you think we should do more instead, no problem, hopefully in 2024 we'll get there! I'm going to share our Chaos Roadmap just below, to tease how much more we're planning to add in the future 👀

When it comes to planning new content, I'm not a fan of big, perfect, highly detailed roadmaps, as it's often straight up impossible to foresee all problems that might occur during development (did you happen to hear about a huge software company trying to screw over game developers recently?)

Even internally, we use a big list of stuff we know we want to do, but we don't put that in order or on a timeline. So here's our Chaos Roadmap, a highly cryptic list of all future updates that are getting cooked behind the scenes:

Vampire Survivors is getting a free story mode with "deep lore lmao"

Vampire Survivors, one of the best indies of 2022, is apparently getting a story mode, and it'll cost you nothing at all.

No one could have predicted Vampire Survivors, a pretty simple game that predominantly involves you walking around trying not to get hit, would still be here almost two years later pushing out continuously good updates. Yet here we are, with the latest announcement that the roguelike is getting a story mode called "Adventures." According to an FAQ, Adventures are "self-contained miniature story modes that reset and remix the game's content, following the Survivors cast on a series of wacky sidequests.

"Each Adventure will offer a unique progression path, giving players an opportunity to start from scratch and face custom challenges with a limited arsenal - without losing precious unlocks in the main game." No specific release date was provided on the Adventures 1.8 update, though it is meant to be coming soon, and will be available on all platforms. Best of all, it's free (other than a redacted line about your soul, or something)! Though there is a note that "some Adventures are expansions to DLC content, and require you to own the relevant DLC on the platform you're playing on."

After all, if there's one thing this game about auto-massacring ever larger crowds of kamikaze night creatures has been lacking, it's some proper narrative context.

One of the best indie game success stories of 2022 is getting even better soon, as Vampire Survivors introduces a story mode. No, I'm not joking. After many, many months of developer Poncle making light of the idea that players love Vampire Survivors for its deep, rich lore, actual narrative-driven Vampire Survivors Adventures are coming with its beautifully named 'Deeplorable update' in patch 1.8 very soon.
