Vampire Survivors Adventures update adds story modes, defying God and Man

Vampire Survivors is getting an Adventures update that will add "self-contained miniature story modes that reset and remix the game's content, following the Survivor's cast on a series of wacky sidequests". That's according to developer Poncle, who are clearly in a whimsical mood this week. After all, if there's one thing this game about auto-massacring ever larger crowds of kamikaze night creatures has been lacking, it's some proper narrative context.

One of the best indie game success stories of 2022 is getting even better soon, as Vampire Survivors introduces a story mode. No, I'm not joking. After many, many months of developer Poncle making light of the idea that players love Vampire Survivors for its deep, rich lore, actual narrative-driven Vampire Survivors Adventures are coming with its beautifully named 'Deeplorable update' in patch 1.8 very soon.

Vampire Survivors update defrosts snowy new stage, expands endgame

Vampire Survivors is one of my favorite games ever, as I always find myself going back for more of its fast-paced action. Poncle's indie game was my introduction to the bullet hell genre, and also my first real enjoyable roguelike experience. Now that the developer has dropped its massive free update, Whiteout, the 1.7.0 patch notes are finally here and I'm ready to lose hundreds of more hours in the challenging game. The update brings a new character, a wintery stage, bonus endgame content, and more achievements to unlock.
