DEMO AVAILABLE - CHECK OUT THE PRE-RECORDED STREAM

Hello everyone!

If you want to see how I'm dealing with the flood, you can check out the pre-recorded stream of Flooded on Steam (I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it :))! It will be up until the end of the event.

It’s gameplay footage with my commentary, in which I will show you both levels available in the demo, which you can try yourself now!

Don't miss out on the fun - can’t wait to hear your feedback!

DEMO AVAILABLE | LIVESTREAM WITH THE DEV

As you probably know (or not), on Monday at 10 am PDT / 1 pm EDT / 6 pm BST, the next edition of Steam Next Fest starts

Now let me take a deep breath and tell you something very important. Ready?

>Inhale<

Flooded will be a part of that event! I have prepared some treats, so I am sure you won’t be bored!

>Exhale<

Okay, let’s see what you can expect!
First and foremost - the demo!
That's right, throughout the Steam Next Fest, you will be able to check out the demo version of Flooded, in which you can try your hand at 2 levels of the game. I guarantee this can be challenging - operating under time pressure is not that simple!

This is the first time I am publicly sharing the build, so your feedback will be extremely helpful. Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions or encountered problems with the game. I have created relevant threads on the forum for you to discuss:
Second - live broadcasts!
What would Steam Next Fest be if I couldn't introduce the game to you?! During the event I will be doing two live streams - the first one on Tuesday (you can set a reminder at the top of the page), and the second one a few days later (I'll be sure to inform you about the details)!

If you don't have time on June 14 at 10 am PDT, then… No problem! I will loop a pre-recorded gameplay video with commentary on the Steam page for the duration of the Festival :)

Have fun!

Meet the Team…

Before you set off, you should assemble a team… And its most important component will always be the commander, who is in charge of coordinating the team’s actions, uniting the group and deciding on the most important things.

In Flooded, before each game, you will be able to choose a commander to manage your attempts to survive a historical flood. However, they will not be the same - each of them offers specific perks and special ways to reach your goals. Today I will introduce you to some of them!
Myles (Specialization: Strategy)
Bonus: Adjacent buildings of the same type work more efficiently.

The first character is a slim man with dark hair combed in an old-fashioned way. He is great at building various strategies and his main strength is paperwork. He makes up for his physical shortcomings with his cleverness and analytical approach to each problem.
Ellen (Specialization: Construction)
Bonus: Buildings can be relocated.

A hardworking woman with a ponytail always hidden under a helmet. You must know she is the only one who has never worked in a mine. However, Ellen is not afraid to get her hands dirty, and her experience in other industries is a big advantage in a natural crisis.
Henry (Specialization: Defense)
Bonus: The default durability of buildings is increased.

This guy is the opposite of Myles - a characterful and well-built blonde who believes in muscle strength. Although, it must be noted, he never uses it to hurt another person. Henry is mild-mannered by nature, but very charismatic. He can easily lead a group of miners and motivate them to work harder!
Thomas (Specialization: Technologies)
Bonus: Buildings have an additional level of development.

The youngest of the group of potential commanders and probably the most distracted. However, it is a textbook image of a real genius. His short-lived enthusiasm does not allow him to finish the tasks he has already started, but his impressive knowledge can help you escape the island… The choice is yours!

See ya!

The Beginning…

Everything has a beginning and every effect has a cause. The linearity of life, the principle of interaction and all that blah, blah, blah. Sounds philosophical? Maybe, but that’s the reality. And in the case of Flooded - in retrospect - I was not expecting what the future was about to bring me.

How did it all start?

I love creating games, and one of the best options for making one from A to Z are all kinds of game jams. This is a good opportunity to test your skills and knowledge of tools, as well as meet many people from the industry.

However, in order to discover new horizons, I assumed that I would try something different for every event of this type - after all, the market is flooded with game genres. The idea for what you know today as “Flooded” was born during Miedź Jam 2021. The theme of the game jam was “The Future is Copper” (“miedz” means “copper” in Polish).

I have never done isometric strategies before, and let's agree, the subject of the event itself asked for something like that. This is how I came up with a plan for "Copper Island" - an RTS game about escaping an island, using mined resources.

Well, there was just one important thing - I was lacking an element in this idea that would really distinguish it from other strategy games…

And then I thought "hmm, what if I made this island shrink?..." The rest was easy, as I built all the other mechanics around this concept. A week of work, turning the vision into reality and continuous programming that resulted in getting a third place at the game jam!

Sail on the wave!

The project received really positive feedback and a lot of voices encouraged me to further develop what I have managed to create during these seven days. And although I did not intend to wade into it at first (I am not used to staying with jam games - surprisingly, without time pressure, the work is harder), sometimes when life gives you lemons, you might want to try making the most delicious lemonade.

This is the exact decision that I made in the case of this project. “Copper Island” was renamed to “Flooded”, and similar thing happened to my life plans - they completely changed. Nevertheless, this is just the beginning of the story, as it turned out there were a lot of surprises waiting for me on the way… But I’ll tell you more about it some other time.

Stay tuned!
