Post-Release Update #3 - New difficulty level, technologies and some fixes…

Hello, folks!

I want to start this post by thanking you all for your feedback since the release of Flooded. Your reports and comments about bugs or missing features have been incredibly helpful in improving the game, so thank you!

I’ve spent the past week working on addressing some of the issues you've mentioned, and I'm happy to announce that there are a ton of improvements in the newest update! Guys, version 1.0.6 is here!
Just chillin’
One of the biggest new features is the addition of a new difficulty level called "Relaxed". It is now the easiest way to play Flooded - the flood meter fills up slower, which significantly reduces the stress associated with dealing with the flood. I think cozy game fans will love it (and not only them), because it will allow them to focus on building, rather than on surviving.
What’s more…
In addition to the new difficulty level, I've also added two new technologies - Terraforming and Terraforming II! Both will help in case of water and electricity shortages, but I'll let you discover that yourself! Good luck!

Oh, and are there any component fans here? There is a new one called “Wet Performance Screw” - you should defo try it out! Or maybe you want to test your luck? If so, then check the Mystery Box in the trade menu!

Furthermore, there are plenty of balancing changes, bug fixes, and other small improvements that should make the game even more enjoyable to play. Check out the full changelog below for more details:

New features:

2 new technologies (Terraforming + Terraforming II)
1 new component (Wet Performance Screw)
New difficulty level (Relaxed)
1 new decoration on Rocky Ocean
1 new decoration on Tropical Ocean
You can now cancel ship construction in the queue by clicking it
Added Mystery Box that can be purchased in the trade menu to obtain a random component

Balance changes:

Acid rain doesn't appear in the first era anymore
Now there are more free ground tiles among trees on Tropical Ocean
The island on the 7th level is now bigger
The island on the 9th level is now bigger

Bugs fixed:

Port description changed
Now particles emitted by fire, volcano and explosions don't move while the game is paused or the time is stopped
Now Embankments don't sink during Flood regardless of certain technologies (Melioration II, Artificial Islands II) being developed.
Newly collected components should now arrange on the grid in the right way
Natural Reservoir can't be built multiple times in the same spot anymore
Theo's (Discoverer) passive ability related to finding positive objects in Mystery Spots should now work without issues
Colors of particles emitted when a building is destroyed should now match the building's color
Ice Cream Shop can now be built only once per level (as the building's description claims)
The bug with rivers and fissures not spawning in the 10th level is now less frequent

Other changes:

Buildings that can't be upgraded don't have the level information box in their menu anymore.
Dark Performance Screw icon changed
Now play time statistic at the end of each level does not include time manipulation
Turret's range now increases with its level and is affected by Turret's performance statistic

Thanks again for your support, and don’t forget to leave a review on Steam - it will be very helpful.

Stay tuned for more!

Post-Release Update #2 - New technologies and more…

Hi there!

It's Friday and, just like I promised, I have a new update for you!

But first things first! I want to thank you all for your continuous support and for keeping an eye on the development of Flooded. The game wouldn't look as good as it does now without your dedication. You’re the best!
Now, on to the exciting stuff!
I've added two new technologies - Cryptology and Z Virus - as well as a new component called the Dark Performance Screw. What do they do? You need to check it out yourself, but I’m sure they’ll be an exciting addition to Flooded, especially in the later stages of the game!

I’ve also fixed some of the bugs that were reported over the past few days. Flooded should now provide more fun and fewer frustrating moments that could make the game less enjoyable.

The full changelog is listed below:

New features:

- 2 new technologies (Cryptology + Z Virus)
- 1 new component (Dark Performance Screw)
- 2 new decorations on Toxic Ocean
- You can now purchase iron in exchange for copper or lead using trade menu
- Now you can have a maximum of 20 technologies at the same time instead of just 10

Bugs fixed:

- Issue with oil spills spawning in strange patterns
- Bug related to building range not covering the whole island is now less frequent
- Game progress is now saved less often, which should reduce the likelihood of corrupting save files
- Now land tiles should always have the right appearance based on their adjacency to the ocean
- Artificial grounds built around the shore shouldn't now reduce the island's building range
- Diamond Pickaxe relic can no longer be used to mine resources while the time is stopped using active pause

Lastly, thanks everyone for leaving a review on Steam. I'll be back with more updates soon, and I hope that today's one is to your liking!

See ya,
Tymek

Flooded has been out for a week!

Hello everyone! 👋

Can you believe it's been a whole week since I released Flooded? Time flies! I wanted to use this opportunity to reflect on the past days and share my own impressions on the launch.

Firstly, I'm thrilled with how everything went and I'm over the moon that so many of you played my game. At its peak, 74 people were playing simultaneously, which is an amazing result! What's even better is that, even though it's been several days now, there are still at least a dozen people playing the game almost constantly!
Reviews 🎮
You know what’s exciting? Flooded has been making waves in the gaming world! It's been featured on some of the biggest gaming sites out there, including:
📰 PC Gamer
“I faced some tricky choices as I played: if there's a copper node close to shore, should I set up a mine on it to quickly extract as much as I can? Or should I leave it and build my factory further inland where I know the building won't be swallowed by the ocean within the next few minutes?”
📰 Destructoid
“For being a rather unique premise, Flooded offers a very tight and polished experience. It’s the sort of thing where I’m afraid that if you either add something or take it away, it will stop working. Just a terrific execution of its thesis. I’m not certain it will necessarily soak your socks like some more expansive builders might, but your time spent stranded will be worthwhile.”
📰 Even the Financial Times!
“It’s a compelling combination of base-building, tower defence and real-time strategy whose procedurally generated maps, different modes and £10 price tag more than make up for its relatively short campaign length. And its combination of human and environmental threats is an effective reminder that when it comes to the climate, we are often our own worst enemies.”

In addition, many well-known creators (like Raptor, Orbital Potato or Lutel) have streamed the game!

Can you believe it? I still can't!
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Once more, I wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who's been playing Flooded and sharing their thoughts on Steam. Your support means everything to me. I also want to encourage you to leave reviews, as they really help the game reach new people.

Finally, I'm excited to announce that a new update will be released this Friday! It will add some content and fix a couple of the bugs you've been telling me about.

Thanks again for your support, and I can't wait to see you all in the game!

Earth Appreciation Festival 2023!

Gamers!

If you think that after the game's release, you can just relax and take it easy, you're very wrong. It's an intense period, but every message from you gives me a better boost than coffee (although I think I drink too much of it...).

But the main reason why I’m writing this post is that I wanted to let you know that Flooded is part of the Earth Appreciation Festival 2023! The event will be live from today until next Monday, April 24th.

During this entire time, Flooded will be still available at a discount, and there will be a banner on the game card, leading to other awesome games from the Festival - make sure you check them out!

Lastly, I'd like to thank everyone who's played Flooded and remind you that it would be awesome if you left a review on Steam - especially if you're having a good time playing the game!

See ya,
Tymek

Tips and tricks 🧰

Hello!

I know Flooded may seem like a simple game (looking at the art style!), but it can sometimes get tricky, especially when you hear the siren and your buildings are about to disappear in the ocean…
To give you a headstart, I’ve prepared a couple of hints that I hope will help you flow (pun intended) through the levels! 🙂

  1. Remember to build enough Quarters, as they provide you with Miners. To gather resources you need:

    • Open-Pit Mine/Mining Shaft/Underwater Mining Shaft;
    • Miners;
    • Water.

It’s crucial that you obtain enough Miners to fill all jobs and supply them with the right amount of Water.

  2. Don’t forget about upgrading buildings from the Action category. A Workshop or Lumber Mill on level 3 can cover even the entire island!

  3. Think 3 steps ahead - build Embankments, while you still have space. Later on you’ll have to rely on Artificial Ground, which is more expensive.

  4. Avoid cutting down trees around your Miners’ Base - they can cover your base from enemy fire.

  5. Learn about your Commander and Relict - not using their perks can make the playthrough more difficult.

  6. When you think everything is lost, try to uncover Mystery Spots on/under the ground or on the ocean. An epic chest may end up saving your run.

  7. When leveling and upgrading buildings, start with those farthest from the shore. The ones by the ocean will probably get flooded anyway.

  8. When you can see that the next flood will take away some buildings, destroy them. This way you’ll at least get back half of the resources used to build them.

  9. Use shortcut buttons, especially for leveling and destroying buildings. These can be found on the right side of the bottom menu. Once you click on one of them, you will be able to pick which buildings should be upgraded or destroyed. This way you won’t have to click on every single building and upgrade/destroy them from the building’s menu.

Have fun!
