Minor Update Patch Notes 2024.11.28

Hello everyone,
It's has been a week since we released The Devil Within: Satgat. Despite some of the issues that have affected the player experience, we are so thrilled to see all of you enjoying our game. The passion with which you play our game is such a boost for us.

Over the past week, our development team has been working tirelessly on resolving the issues that you, our passionate community, have been reporting. This patch will fix a lot of the known issues and will also improve the player experience. If you encounter any further issues, please feel free to let us know through the official Discord, through Steam, or through other means. We promise to respond as quickly as possible.

This patch contains not just bug fixes, but also changes that will have a large impact on gameplay. The following has been updated in the latest version of the game on November 28th GMT+9.

[h2]1. Jump Improvements[/h2]
A lot of you have asked for jump mechanic improvements. Because changing the jump mechanics would change the overall level design of each stage, we had to be careful balancing player feedback with preserving certain parts of the originally intended player experience. In this update, we've slightly raised the jump height and changed it to feel a bit more smooth. With this change, certain parts of specific levels will feel a lot better.

[h2]2. Firearm Improvements[/h2]
After this update, when using a firearm, a small HUD will appear that makes it more intuitive to aim and shoot. Crosshairs have been added as well for keyboard/mouse players. Aside from that, each firearm has been improved and better defined, allowing players to better strategize their use of the firearms.

ㄴ Increased the damage when fired at close range

ㄴ Greatly increased the rate of fire

We hope that these changes will add more diversity in how you tackle obstacles and enemies.

[h2]3. Changes and Fixes[/h2]
- Fixed an issue where certain elite monsters would not respawn after a player death
- Added an indicator for monsters that carry the Containment Cell Keys
- Fixed an issue where certain treasure chests were not correctly displayed in the 4th stage (The Capital)
- Fixed several issues related to a boss in Stage 4 (Devil Shinman in the Capital), allowing for a more stable experience
- Fixed an issue where in the Ruined City, under certain circumstances, the Wanderer gun did not appear as intended.
- Fixed an issue where the portal to the final area did not appear as intended.
- Improved the final area of the game so that players have a method of replenishing consumables
Jaran has been added to the final area of the game. You can purchase consumables through Jaran, so we hope that this will alleviate some stresses for players who aren't sure if they should use their items.
- Added the final artifact to Dongbaek's Shop for players to purchase: Balanced Object
- Fixed certain other minor bugs and made minor improvements to certain areas of the game

We sincerely hope that this patch will make the game a lot more fun for our players. Regardless of where issues are posted, whether it be in the Discord, Social Media, or on Steam, we will always try to listen and resolve issues as soon as possible. The following has been updated in the latest version of the game on November 27th GMT+9.

[Changes and Fixes]
- Adjusted certain language strings to read more naturally
- Added Corruptor's Memory Shard icons to the map and the fast travel map
We received a lot of feedback that users may forget where the Corruptor's Memory Shards may be as the quest log for each one gets cleared if you finished it once. We hope that this addition improves the player experience.
- Fixed an issue where the 'This... is... HAETAE!' achievement was not being unlocked under certain circumstances.
For those of you affected by this problem, load the save file that has the conditions met and it should unlock automatically.
- Fixed an issue where the certain Haetae-finding achievements were not being unlocked under certain circumstances.
For those of you affected by this problem, load the save file that has the conditions met and it should unlock automatically.
- Fixed an issue where the Crimson Oil Cluster + Lord of Inferno bosses would not move as originally intended.
- Fixed an issue where the extended area of Stage 3 would not be accessible in certain circumstances due to using up the Containment Cell Keys, making progression impossible.
For those of you who are currently affected and cannot obtain the Containment Cell Keys because they have been used up, we have a temporary solution in place for you.
- If you see the message of needing a key 10 times, the door will open. You do not need to move maps or save points, just go back and forth 10 times.
- Fixed an issue where in certain circumstances, text on the mini map related to the current goal was not displaying as intended.
- Fixed an issue where the backgrounds were not being loaded as intended after using the Haetae Statues.
- Adjusted the respawn location of the player when using the Haetae Statue and dying before reaching a save point to the Haetae Statue itself.
ie. Move stages with Haetae Statue, try to get to a save point but for whatever reason you died BEFORE reaching the save point, respawn at the Haetae Statue
- Fixed an issue with the quest marker regarding the Corruptor's Memory Shard quests
- Added 2 artifacts that can be found in Dongbaek's shop, purchased with Haetae's Scales: Bleeding Red Spirit and Vow of Revenge
There were originally 5 empty spaces which was incorrect.

Hello everyone,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported The Devil Within: Satgat. Whether you have been with us since the Early Access or have joined us at launch, we are so thankful for all of you. Additionally, we would like to say thank you for letting us know some of the bugs or issues that you have encountered while playing The Devil Within: Satgat. To that end, we apologize for the shortcomings of the game.

All of us here, including the director of the studio, have been closely monitoring your play data through streams, videos, as well as achievement progress in order to pinpoint various things that need improvement. We are currently identifying certain crash issues (some of which have been resolved, but we are still working on solving other edge cases), unintended situations that may arise, as well as certain quality of life factors. To that end, we would like to share some details.

[h2]1. Adjust Boss Balance[/h2]
We've seen that the balance of certain bosses call for very specific skill builds or too difficult on certain difficulty modes. We plan to adjust them so that the bosses can be challenged with a variety of builds and play-styles. We will do our best to make sure that players can enjoy these boss fights, utilizing different strategies to defeat them.

[h2]2. Improving the Exploration Experience[/h2]
We have seen the feedback regarding the fast travel at campfires being not so intuitive. We are working on improvements to make everything feel a bit more natural, including giving better indicators of where to go next. This way, we hope that players don't lose their way while going through the maps.

[h2]3. Improving Visual Indicators[/h2]
We also identified some issues in certain areas and boss fights where it is difficult to visually see the attacks. We will resolve these issues case-by-case rather than a blanket fix over all of them.

[h2]4. Crashes and Inability to Progress[/h2]
Our of all of these, we are prioritizing the response to unexpected crashes or issues that have been halting player progress and hope to get these patches ready sooner rather than later. We are also working on fixes related to challenges not being completed as well as collectibles not being obtained. These fixes are being worked on so that players don't feel their sense of accomplishment being obstructed or ignored.

We aim to resolve most of the issues that we found, including the major issues listed above, within this week. We are so extremely proud of this game making its way into player libraries, but we apologize for the inconveniences laid out during the initial release. We will continue to communicate with our players to make sure the game gets into and stays in the best shape possible.

The following has been updated in the latest version of the game on November 25th GMT+9.

[Changes and Fixes]
- Adjusted some English strings to read more naturally
- Fixed an issue where certain achievements were not getting triggered.
- Improved the balance of certain bosses
- Fixed some issues with the quick slot items
- Improved the mini map when fast traveling to be able to be adjusted (ie. zoom in, out, move around)
- Improved the boss challenge of Stage 3 in terms of balance for the later levels
- Improved certain boss' passive abilities and overall balance
- improved the quest list to include up to 5
- Made certain improvements to the ending so that if you were to continue a cleared file, you would get the engrams for beating the final bosses
- Fixed an issue where certain monster waves were not able to be cleared in certain circumstances in stage 4
- Fixed an issue where the direction of certain meteor attacks of one of the final bosses were not telegraphed as intended
- Fixed issues with fast travel between and around stages
- Fixed an issue where certain attacks of the boss of the extended area of stage 1 were not telegraphed as intended
