Where did the ship in the CEZ come from?

We know that the cruiser is located at Area-9, a facility isolated from baseline reality, so formally it does not belong to the CEZ territory. However, this raises no fewer questions.

Who built this ship and when? Where did its quantum technologies come from? What were they intended for? And how did Murmur end up there?

Some of the answers have already surfaced in a memo from Phil, the head of the Areas project.

Official memo

From: Phil, Project Lead Areas
To: Board of Directors
Subject: Operational update on Facility Area-9 and next steps

Following up on documents from Operation Sludge, I report the following:

We have uncovered data on production unit Shipyard (Facility Area-9). Archive research from the late 1980s confirmed that work on a cruiser using advanced quantum technology of that era took place at the Shipyard.

During field operations to verify details about the facility, Vympel's and Pozhar's teams clashed with an unidentified but well-equipped enemy force. A check through MĂĽller confirmed these forces do not belong to Mercenary units or any other known factions. I have ordered additional reconnaissance through third parties with strict security measures.

Separately, an emergency crash of a private satellite was recorded near Forge-11. Preliminary analysis links this event to an energy surge accumulated at Area-9 after the original disaster.

Note:
The incident and subsequent shutdown of the complex were likely caused by tests or related experiments. Given its nature, a massive amount of energy may have built up inside over time.

To locate the satellite, we engaged the Mercenary faction (they determined the crash trajectory using black box data), followed by Rise's specialists. Using Murmur technology (a psi-infrastructure tower), they precisely pinpointed the crash zone — that is, the source of the surge.

Note:
I would like to highlight that Rise has made significant progress in mastering Murmur technology. They not only repaired the device but are now using it confidently and safely. This requires separate analysis.

Further developments:

  • Covenant detained an unidentified fighter who testified about involvement with disgraced Colonel Semersky (lead of Operation Polyus).
  • Frontier confirmed the presence of gradual-type psi-influence at the facility entrance. They suffered personnel losses but provided crucial support during the assault.
Note:
Troops and military stalkers were likely hit by the initial echo of the surge, probably after Area-9 was reactivated. Some personnel were successfully rehabilitated.

During the attempted cleanup of Area-9, we eliminated Semersky's group. However, some time later, Murmur emerged from deeper levels of the facility and forced our units to withdraw. The fighters may have been inside the Area since the collapse of the old Mines network — possibly in a biological hibernation state, or anabiosis.

Note:
I believe this was triggered by an energy burst from malfunctioning psionic generators aboard the ship. Given the loss of tactical advantage and the high threat potential posed by Murmur, I request the Board's authorization to launch Operation Sea of Exclusion to regain control of the facility and continue extracting its technologies.

🌊 Echoes of the seas

Sometimes the inhabitants of the CEZ are overcome by nostalgia for the Mainland, and when that happens, they bring all sorts of orders to the local technicians, just to bring back a piece of the past... And now an order has arrived for the former sailors.

A host of new marine-themed motifs and styles have appeared in the in-game shop.

Marine artefacts

[p]New artefacts have been discovered in the Zone! Scientists have already conducted their first studies, and here’s what they’ve found so far: [/p][p][/p]
[p]• Artefact Jelly — a gelatinous mass of slime. Although the artefact constantly sheds new “droplets” that seem to make up its substance, its overall volume never decreases. Attempts to catch and preserve even a single droplet have so far been unsuccessful.

• Artefact Noose — a circulating stream of water flowing in a closed cycle. Even though it’s made of liquid, it can actually be held in your hands — as long as you don’t let the “stream” slip away, since it can easily flow right out of your grasp.[/p]

❗️ These artefacts will keep appearing for a couple more weeks, until April 1. Have you managed to get your hands on them yet?
