[/p][p][/p][p]While this is still a work in progress, it’s a focused step toward refining the game’s core experience![/p][p][/p]
Trailer – A Glimpse of the New Art Direction 🎥
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]The Signal: Stranded on Sirenis is a single-player survival craft game set on a captivating alien planet that doesn’t want to let you go. You’ll scavenge, build, extract, and survive your way through a strange, sentient world — uncovering its purpose one step at a time. We have big plans for the story, but that’s not the focus just yet. [/p][p][/p]
What’s New in This Build🧭
[p]This Pre-Alpha Playtest gives you a focused look at some key systems and design updates. While it's not the full game, there’s still plenty to dive into. This playtest does not represent the full experience, but rather, is focused on gathering feedback on our recently developed systems. [/p][p][/p]
Art & Atmosphere
[p][/p]
 • [p]Debut of our new art direction, which defines the visual tone of the game moving forward.[/p]
[p]
Combat & Progression
[/p]

[p][/p]
Survival & Exploration
[p][/p]
 • [p]Core survival systems like scavenging, crafting, building, and resource gathering are in place.[/p]
 • [p]The playable region is a small slice of the Overworld, featuring cliffs, ruins, chasms, waterfalls, alien creatures (both docile and aggressive), and robotic sentries.[/p]
 • [p]Dedicated players can unlock a vehicle, with a sneak peek at our customization system.[/p]
[p][/p]
Playtime
• [p]Estimated playtime: around 2 hours for skilled players — depending on deaths, exploration choices, and optional crafting.[/p]

June Dev Update!

[p]Hi everyone,[/p][p]Over the past month, we’ve been focused on improving the core combat experience in The Signal, especially around how it feels to move and shoot in first-person.[/p][p][/p]
Why We're Making Changes
[p]The Signal is a narrative-driven game set on an alien planet. Our original vision leaned heavily into puzzle-solving to supplement the environmental storytelling and to support the unfolding mystery of the world. However, after multiple playtests, we realized that the slower gameplay rhythm was detracting from the overall experience, and pulling focus away from the story.[/p][p]The feedback was clear: a snappier, more reactive moment-to-moment experience would better support player immersion and pacing.[/p][p][/p]
What We've Changed
[p]To support this shift, we’ve made major updates:[/p]
 • [p]Redesigned the animation system to support a more responsive feel.[/p]
 • [p]Moved to a more data-driven system for scalability and easier iteration.[/p]
 • [p]Reworked enemy AI to add more variety and personality to encounters.[/p]
 • [p]Improved terrain navigation and shooting feel to make first-person gameplay more satisfying.[/p]
[p]All of this ties into our renewed focus on making each encounter more dynamic and meaningful.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
World Structure Rework
[p]Throughout our playtests, we also tried several different world structures. The version that resonated most with playtesters—and our team—is one that centers around a single hub area. You’ll build your base here and head out on expeditions from this central location. This setup not only fits our gameplay better, it also aligns more closely with our story direction.
With the world structure design locked in, we finally started working on level design that we intend to carry into the final game. We can’t wait to test this out with players. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
What’s Next?
[p]We're continuing to polish combat and improve overall aesthetics. Our goal is to put together a playable slice that brings everything together for another round of playtesting.[/p][p]If you’d like to take part, head over to our Steam page and click the green Playtest button to sign up:
[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
Thanks for the Feedback
[p]Your feedback has been essential in guiding our decisions. Testing early and often helps us stay grounded and avoid tunnel vision. We’re excited to share more soon.[/p][p]If you’d like to stay updated, follow us on social media:[/p][p]— The Signal Dev Team[/p][p]
