EA SPORTS™ WRC: 2024 Roadmap Revealed

Ever since the launch of EA SPORTS™ WRC last year, we’ve received tons of feedback from fans about the game, how they play, and what they would like to see in the future.

Today we can begin sharing what we’ve been working on, with the announcement of our 2024 Roadmap*, including exciting new content for rally fans to explore and enjoy.

Check out the roadmap and details below, and stay tuned over the coming months for much more detail on what’s to come for EA SPORTS™ WRC.
EA SPORTS™ WRC 2024 Season Expansion - Coming in October
As the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship season heats up, we’re delighted to announce that the EA SPORTS™ WRC 2024 Season Expansion** will release in October.

This expansion pack will bring players up-to-date with the current season of the sport, featuring new locations, rally stages, high-performance vehicles, liveries and more.

Check back in the coming months as we dive into more detail on the expansion and reveal all of the content, ahead of its release.

Players who purchase the EA SPORTS™ WRC 2024 Season Expansion will also receive an additional two DLC packs** post-launch, more on those below.
EA SPORTS™ WRC 2024 Season Edition - Coming in October
If you’ve never experienced the thrill of EA SPORTS™ WRC before, October will be the perfect time to start as we’ll also release a bundle for new players.

This standalone bundle combines the EA SPORTS™ WRC base game and the EA SPORTS™ WRC 2024 Season Expansion into a single purchase.

This also includes the two additional DLC packs (more info below) that will release post-launch.
EA SPORTS™ WRC DLC Packs - Coming this Winter & Spring
Following the launch of the EA SPORTS™ WRC 2024 Season Expansion, two additional DLC packs will be released, the first coming this Winter and the second in Spring of 2025.

Players who purchase the EA SPORTS™ WRC 2024 Season Expansion will receive these at no extra cost, and those without the expansion can purchase the packs individually.

These themed DLC packs will contain new cars, additional rally stages for existing locations, moments, and more.

We’ll share more details later this year, follow us on social media to get the latest news.
EA SPORTS™ WRC Season 6 Rally Pass - Starts July 30
Shifting gears towards the immediate future now, we’re pleased to announce that the Season 6 Rally Pass** begins next week, from July 30.

Based on player feedback received throughout the past year, we have made a number of changes to the Rally Pass, to improve the experience for all players.

For the first time, players can unlock liveries for cars outside of the WRC (Rally1) class, as well as additional sponsor decal sets for the livery editor.

Rewards will also be grouped, so that players can customise their driver with a complete set of new cosmetics, instead of sequentially unlocking each piece across multiple levels (as in Seasons 1-5).

Moments also return for Season 6, and the Season 6 Rally Pass will be free for all players.
esports WRC - Coming Soon
Finally, esports WRC is still in development and we’re almost ready to share the official competition information and event calendar, as we continue to work with our partners on the finer details of the series.

The 2024 season is expected to consist of online qualifiers via Racenet, and an in-person final where the top players compete for the title of esports WRC World Champion. The series will challenge players across a range of locations and conditions in Rally1 cars.

Stay tuned for further updates, and as with all news you’ll get it first on our social media channels. In the meantime you can watch some high-intensity action from our invitational exhibition event, which was held in Poland at the end of 2023.

EA SPORTS™ WRC - EA anticheat

As part of our ongoing efforts to create a safe and fair experience for all players, we are adding EA anticheat to EA SPORTS™ WRC from June 2024.

Rally is a competitive sport where drivers battle against the clock, the car and the world for the best times on the leaderboards.

Protecting the competitive integrity of our leaderboards is integral to providing a fun, fair and authentic rally experience for everyone.

For more information regarding EA anticheat, please see the FAQ below.
FAQ

What is EA anticheat?
EA anticheat is a kernel-mode anti-cheat and anti-tamper solution developed in-house at Electronic Arts.

PC cheat developers have increasingly moved into the kernel, so we need to have kernel-mode protections to ensure fair play and tackle PC cheat developers on an even playing field.

As tech-inclined video gamers ourselves, it is important to us to make sure that any kernel anti-cheat included in our games acts with a strong focus on the privacy and security of our gamers that use a PC.
What platforms is EA anticheat available on?
EA anticheat is used on the PC versions of EA SPORTS™ WRC.

It is not required on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 versions of the game, which are protected by existing anti-cheat and anti-tamper solutions.
What game versions of EA SPORTS™ WRC feature EA anticheat?
EA anticheat is a part of EA SPORTS™ WRC from Version 1.9.0 onwards.

The release date for the Version 1.9.0 update is to be confirmed, follow our social media channels for the latest news.
How do I install and troubleshoot EA anticheat?
EA SPORTS™ WRC will attempt to install EA anticheat if it is not on your system already.
You can also install EA anticheat manually, please see our installation and troubleshooting FAQ for more information.
Why are you moving to EA anticheat?
Third party anti-cheat solutions are often opaque to our teams, and prevent us from implementing additional privacy controls or customisations that provide greater accuracy and granularity for EA-specific game modes.

With EA anticheat we have full stack ownership of the security & privacy posture, so we can fix security issues as soon as they may arise.
Why is kernel level anti-cheat needed?
This varies on a game-by-game basis.

For games that are highly competitive and contain many online modes such as EA SPORTS™ WRC, kernel-mode protection is absolutely vital.

When cheat programs operate in kernel space, they can make their cheat functionally invisible to anti-cheat solutions that live in user-mode.

Unfortunately, the last few years have seen a large increase in cheats and cheat techniques operating in kernel-mode, so the only reliable way to detect and block these is to continue to have our anti-cheat operate there as well.
Are the System Requirements for EA SPORTS™ WRC changing?
The minimum system requirements for EA SPORTS™ WRC specify Windows 10 as the operating system. This will not change.

Additionally, EA SPORTS™ WRC will not run on the native Steam OS for Steam Deck following the release of EA anticheat.

EA SPORTS™ WRC has officially been categorised as "Unsupported" on Steam Deck since its release in 2023.
Will EA anticheat degrade gameplay?
No.

We’ve conducted extensive internal and independent performance and stability assessments to ensure EA anticheat is as performant and lightweight as possible.

EA anticheat will have no discernible impact on your gameplay.
Does EA anticheat run when I start my PC, or only when the game is running?
EA anticheat only runs when a game with EA anticheat protection included is running.

All anti-cheat processes shut down when the game does.
Does EA anticheat stay on my PC if I uninstall EA SPORTS™ WRC? Can I uninstall it if I want?
If you have uninstalled all of your EA games that have EA anticheat protection, EA anticheat will automatically uninstall and remove itself from your PC.

It can also be manually uninstalled by you at any time you choose and will be completely removed from your PC.

Please note that if you uninstall EA anticheat, any games that require EA anticheat protection will not be playable until EA anticheat is reinstalled.

If you would like to reinstall EA anticheat we’ve made it as easy as possible to do so, with simple prompts in the game launch process.
Does EA anticheat let EA see my browsing history, personal files, or things like that?
Player privacy is a top concern of our Game Security & Anti-Cheat team - after all, we’re players too.
EA anticheat will only look at what it needs to for anti-cheat purposes in our games and we have limited the information EA anticheat collects.

If you have a process on your PC that is trying to interact with our game, EA anticheat could see that and respond. However, everything else is off limits.

EA anticheat does not gather any information about your browsing history, applications that are not connected to EA games, or anything that is not directly related to anti-cheat protection.
We’ve worked with independent, 3rd party computer security and privacy services firms to ensure EA anticheat operates with data privacy top of mind.

For the information that EA anticheat does collect, we strive to maintain privacy where possible through a cryptographic process called hashing to create unique identifiers and discard the original information.

Overall, EA anticheat’s use of your computer and data collection is consistent with EA’s User Agreement and Privacy and Cookie Policy.
How do I know that EA anticheat is not introducing any security vulnerabilities to my PC?
Our Game Security & Anti-Cheat team is composed of some of the best security engineers in the world, and we are passionate about ensuring that our software does not cause any security vulnerabilities.
Our anti-cheat engineering team performs daily testing and we continuously run security and penetration tests against EA anticheat internally.

But don’t just trust our word on this. We’ve also worked with independent, 3rd party security and privacy assessors to validate EA anticheat does not degrade the security posture of your PC and to ensure strict data privacy boundaries.

Although we’re confident that we’ve taken every possible precaution, we are monitoring and listening to any reports received to make sure that potential issues get addressed as quickly as possible.
I think I found a security vulnerability with EA anticheat, who can I contact?
If you believe you’ve found a vulnerability, please let us know by following our Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure process by emailing [email protected] right away.

We take potential security issues seriously, and will work to fix them as quickly as we can.
Where can I get help if I run into issues with EA anticheat?
If you need help to install and troubleshoot EA anticheat on your PC then you can visit our EA Help page.
