COMMUNITY COSPLAY CELEBRATION: INTERVIEW WITH FROGGYSUIT

Throughout the week, we want to celebrate our amazing community and highlight a number of incredibly talented cosplayers who have caught our attention in the DEATH STRANDING community over the years. Today, we're putting the spotlight on the fabulous Froggysuit!
COMMUNITY COSPLAY CELEBRATION: INTERVIEW WITH FROGGYSUIT

Hi – Please can you introduce yourself?
Hi, I go under my artist name Froggysuit. I'm a cosplayer from Germany.
How long have you been cosplaying for?
I've been cosplaying for 8-9 years at this point. But I've been to cosplay conventions before that, so I've been in involved with cosplay as a hobby for longer.
What inspired you to cosplay as Fragile from DEATH STRANDING?
First of all I'm a huge Metal Gear and Hideo Kojima Fan, so cosplaying a character from one of his games was always a big dream. When DEATH STRANDING was released, Fragile caught my attention. Her character and design just stuck with me.
Can you talk a bit about the process of putting together your DEATH STRANDING inspired cosplay?
I usually split a cosplay into multiple parts: wig, outfit and equipment/props. First I got a wig and did a makeup test, to see if I feel confident with the character and can do justice to the look. I had a friend help me with the styling of the wig.

After that I started with the outfit which consisted mainly of a jacket, tight leggings and grey boots. I made the leggings out of latex so that they would look shiny and skin-tight just like in-game. I was extra careful with all the details here, like the stripes on the sides and details at the back of the knee. The material gets glued together and then has to be shined with special oil. For the jacket I settled with ordering one online. But on reflection, I would have been better off crafting it myself (which is still on my to-do-list).

As for the boots, I bought some regular grey boots and modified them so they would look like the boots in-game, which had long shoelaces and other details like different coloured parts and a big strap. Fragile's equipment (umbrella and bag) are still work-in-progress, but I got other props that I could use for a shooting, like a jar of cryptobiotes, which I got as a present or the BB that came with the collectors edition of the game.
Are there any other characters you’d love to cosplay as from the DEATH STRANDING world?
I actually cosplayed Sam from DEATH STRANDING and did a photo-shooting with a friend who cosplayed Higgs.
What advice do you have for aspiring cosplayers?
Cosplay is not a competition, it's a hobby. Even though some people do it professionally and reach a certain level of quality, the most important part for yourself is to simply give your best. It can be frustrating and won't be as much fun as other hobbies at times, but that's where you realize where your passion comes from.

It doesn't matter if you buy everything ready, modify something or craft it yourself, most people have got limitations that justify their process of putting a cosplay together. Best thing is to focus on one cosplay and try to improve it. One day it will be perfect. And always try to craft things by yourself, because stock photos from online shops can be misleading and the most detailed cosplays are always hand-crafted.

A big thank you to Froggysuit for taking the time to answer our questions.

COMMUNITY COSPLAY CELEBRATION: INTERVIEW WITH LEAH

With Halloween around the corner, it got us thinking about costumes and cosplay! Throughout this week, we’re putting the spotlight on a number of incredibly talented cosplayers who have caught our attention in the DEATH STRANDING community. Our fans are SO creative and we want to celebrate that! First up, we’re putting the spotlight on Leah, who’s multiple cosplay creations really stood out to us!
COMMUNITY COSPLAY CELEBRATION: INTERVIEW WITH LEAH

Hi – Please can you introduce yourself?
Hi! My name is Leah and I’m a small Spanish cosplayer who loves videogames and specially Hideo Kojima’s works.
How long have you been cosplaying for?
I’m 28 now and I’ve been doing cosplay since I was 16, so woah, 12 years! Guess I’ve been around for a quite long while, I’m a veteran of cosplay.
What inspired you to cosplay as Fragile and Higgs from DEATH STRANDING?
Not only do I love Hideo Kojima’s works, but also Troy Baker’s work. The moment I saw his name on the trailer I was more than prepared to see what this character was going to be like. But as soon as I started the game I noticed he was more than a “bad guy”, he had a certain something that caught my attention. DEATH STRANDING is a touching game, a really relaxing one to play, yet every time he (Troy) showed up, it was pure chaos. To be honest I’ve always had a weak spot for villains and characters like him, because there is always a big reason for them to act this way which for me makes them really interested. He’s another victim of the sociality we got to experience in the DEATH STRANDING world, and he faced it differently than the rest. And let’s be honest, his outfit it’s amazing. As a cosplayer it caught my eyes immediately. (Chuckles)
Can you talk a bit about the process of putting together your DEATH STRANDING inspired cosplay?
Sure! In fact, I never dared to do such type of cosplays before I did Higgs. This was a big deal for me, a before and after as a cosplayer. Until I decided to do it all I did was sort of easy, only animated characters who did not need any kind of "transformation". Stuff you could get anywhere. But this time where could you get an odradek for example? Or the pod? You know? I started to check all different types of tactical suits and accessories, to make it accurate and at the same time realistic for a character like him. At the same time I needed everything to make me look bigger, more masculine. My room was a whole mess for an entire month because I wanted to be one of the first at a convention, wearing DEATH STRANDING cosplay, so I had to rush a bit. I burnt and cut my hands several times. It was a challenge for me and though I was really happy with the result I was scared of social media, but thankfully the community loved it! I felt great and the pain of doing this cosplay was worth it!
Are there any other characters you’d love to cosplay as from the DEATH STRANDING world?
All of them! (Chuckles) No but seriously, I think they are all amazing. Besides Higgs, I got myself a Fragile Express jacket and did a quick Fragile, which actually came out looking pretty good! I love the Bridges’ porter suit so who knows, maybe Sam one day? But for sure I’ll be making Cliff sooner or later, as someone who lost her dad I can’t help but to love deeply this character. Strong, brave, father figures like his, really get my heart.
What advice do you have for aspiring cosplayers?
You see, when I started there were many rules about cosplaying. Now cosplaying has matured and evolved and that allows all of those who want to try and cosplay, more space to have fun. Back in the day, people looked weirdly at me for trying to look like a male character, while today I can go outside as Higgs. What I’m trying to say is cosplay doesn’t end with “play” for no reason. This is supposed to be fun even when creating the costume can be a little bit stressful at times. Only limit in cosplay, is your imagination and where can it takes you. Have fun, keep working, don’t pay attention to mean comments. Don’t be afraid to shine!

CENTRAL REGION AND EASTERN REGION COMMUNITY PHOTO EVENT
CENTRAL REGION AND EASTERN REGION COMMUNITY PHOTO EVENT
Hi everyone! If you’ve been around these lands for a while, you’ll remember our Central Region Interactive Map event, which we ran last year with our community. The response was wonderful, so thank you again to everyone that took part! Today, we’ve updated the page with the DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR’S CUT Eastern Region map, giving Porters like yourself an additional opportunity to share your journey with us.

With that in mind, we invite you all to share your very best photo mode shots with us. We’ll pick our favourites over the coming weeks and months and pinpoint them on our maps. When new Porters join us, they’ll be able to go into the game with some expectations of what to expect as they explore.
COMMUNITY EVENT DETAILS
Want to get involved? Here’s what you need to know.

• Submit your very best photo mode shots on Steam or at https://505games.com/uploads/ along with a clear screenshot of the map, highlighting where in the world you’ve taken your photos. This will allow us to pin your shots on our interactive map in the right place. Without that additional screenshot, we won’t be able to accurately identify where on the Central Region or Eastern Region map the photo was captured.
• Think outside the box and travel far and wide! We’re looking for variety, so do explore as much of the map as possible.
• Please only use the photo mode tools available in the game.
• If you wish to include a short message to support your photo submissions, then leave them in the comments and we’ll include them with your captures on our website!

We can’t wait to see your captures and showcase them on our Central Region and Eastern Region maps.
