Major FREE Content Update

Welcome, travelers,
We are super excited to unveil all the new content coming to Baladins! This update introduces a new region complete with a full set of quests, characters, and adventures. Additionally, there are more changes throughout the game and new features. We've also worked on optimizing the game for lower configurations and fixing bugs as much as possible. All this new content is available for free and ready right now!

[h2]THE GATES ARE OPEN TO ROAZAY[/h2]

ABOUT THE REGION
The mountains north of Gatherac serve as a frontier with the kingdom of Hobland. Once a war-torn region, it has now been peaceful for generations. A few people live there, away from the racket of Hortegarde. The two main points of interest are Roazay's Greenhouse, where monk gardeners cultivate all kinds of plants, and, of course, the gates of Belfosse, the mine-city of the nutons.

Founded by the Matagots in the mountains near Hollow Mount, Roazay is a spiritual and religious landmark for Gatherac. It provides a sanctuary for outcasts, misfits, and loners from across the country.
The village is built around a circle of stones raised centuries ago, the creators of which remain unknown. However, the Matagots feel a profound connection to the world of the dead here and frequently honor the four gods through rituals, particularly Gruïd. An enduring sense of peace and tranquility envelops the village. The residents speak softly, avoid arguments, and do not engage in fights. Tents and small stone houses are constructed near the lake and around the village's largest structure: the Monastery of the Garden.

The Matagots nurture and tend to a flower garden, safeguarding rare botanical species. They utilize these plants in rituals and for crafting potions and medicines. Those devoted to caring for this place are known as the Gardeners, a semi-monastic order. It is said that there is no wound or illness the Gardeners cannot heal. While the order was originally comprised mostly of Matagots, now individuals from all backgrounds are part of the Gardeners.
Pilgrims travel here from all over Gatherac—and even from beyond its borders—but the journey to the mountain is arduous and fraught with challenges and peril.

  • Travelling Merchants: Endlessly walking the road and roaming from village to village, the traveling merchants join Baladins to bring you new items and buy & sell opportunities. Get your timing right if you want to cross their path!
  • Hidden Character: A suspicious little character is now hiding in the lands of Gatherac. Time to play hide & seek! Find them, and they'll greet you with a culture test and potential rewards!

  • What is going on around here? They need your help to solve a seemingly insurmountable issue.

[h2]BUG FIXES & MISC[/h2]

Network rework
- We changed the network plug-in used for the game. It's mostly invisible, but now you must share a code with your friends to connect with one another. This results in some changes to the title menu UI: a local/online menu and a lobby code menu.

Debug
- Fixed potential event desynchronization when switching event during another event
- Fixed a dice roll sound that was playing in a loop
- Fixed ending loop event desynchronization
- Fixed credits music continuing when returnin main menu
- Fixed loading issues with the most recent campaign when a campaign is deleted
- Fixed some french texts that were displaying the info "NEEDS UPDATE"
- Fixed some boards sounds continuing durring end loop event

Misc
- Added a splash screen when the game launches and while game assets are loading
- Added music during the recap board
- Added music in the character selection screen when restarting a loop
- Changed the main game font
- Implemented optimizations: reduced the size of some sprites and textures, added LODs, fixed memory leaks, loaded more assets at game startup instead of during gameplay (resulting in only one loading per game session), improved launch speed to make it slightly faster.

Big game update! v 1.1 LIVE!

Hello Steam players!

It's been a little over a month now that Baladins has been out and seeing the response it’s received since has been a thrill!

We’ve read through all your comments, Discord messages, emails, Steam forums, and more; and we’ve worked on fixing the biggest issues that our community has been facing, as well as making some changes that you have been requesting.

Here are the major points that have been raised so far:
  • Multiplayer: The people demand Remote Play Together
  • Save system: Once-a-loop saves is too little.
  • Gamepad: There is a need for better precision and UX improvements.
  • Online: Disconnection issues

Our dev & QA team have been hard at work, and we're very happy to present you all with this big new update 🥳

Here’s a breakdown of what it includes:
✅ The people have spoken, and we have listened: Remote Play Together is now available.
✅ New Save System: you can now save the game once per (in-game) week
✅ Gamepad support has been improved, and we’ve added a reticule.
✅ A lot of debugs have been made on disconnection issues.

Your feedback has been immensely helpful and encouraging to us, and we hope this update will make Baladins as enjoyable as we always wanted it to be.



Patch Notes details:
Features:
  • New Save System: The run will save at the beginning of each week. Every quest statues, rumor, and random encounter will save, as well all class stats, inventories, and locations. You can resume at any later point, alone or with the rest of your party, right where you left off. Even if the rest of you party does not join back at the same time, missing classes that were saved will return at the end of the loop and their progression will be acknowledged.
  • End your loop: You can now end your loop at anytime by simply going to “Settings” and selecting “End the Loop”. If everyone in the party approves, you will directly go to confront Colobra.
  • Controller: We have added a cursor to controllers on the board. No more tedious searching!
  • Remote Play: After testing the feature to the best of our abilities, we are happy to announce that Remote Play Together is now available!
Bug fixes:
  • Several save bugs have been fixed.
  • We resolved a bug that desynchronized random draws, which in turn would desynchronize the entire run.
  • Items kept after a run are now really kept - for real now!
  • We solved dice roll autowin/autolose modifier synchronization.
  • Several typos in the French version have been fixed.
  • Several quests have been fixed.
  • Camera can now pan lower in Mouliac, allowing better/easier selection of the guild hall.
  • Crown is properly displayed during a vote.

Hey friends,
We continue pushing updates to make the game better!

  • Synchronized Autoplay text
  • Synchronized Board load
  • Hide the save icon when leaving the settings menu
  • After a vote, non-active players can not control the game anymore
  • Fixed a bug with remote players starting at the same location as the host if they joined a game after the host had already chosen a region
  • Fixed random state synchronization, leading to a desynchronization between players playing with a big latency.
  • Fix some synchronization issues during the outro. Also added messages during the transition post-Colobra to give better information to players.
